Ok yes i know hench'men' but I was a bit bummed when I realized in the current game I'm playing that I can only design new henchmen as more males, I had wanted to make a strong spear wielding type Valkyrie henchmen type unit that I could use to maybe lead some spear wielding female valkyrie units lol.
Not a major letdown but I would certainly love to see it added in in a future update.
+1 for male/female henchmen in unit design.
I have to say this is about the only complaint I personally have with this game but overall still a damn fun game to play
Well, you could setup a beastlord sovereign for that, couldnt gear it up but its kind of like having a cavebear henchmen lol
Beastlords are the best. In the early rounds of a game I tamed a Cave Bear. I named him Fell Fang. A dragon killed him and i cried.
I had a corpse spider named fluffy. A death demon(The giant one) killed him... so I used the kill spell and killed that bastard.
I think some sort of memorial thread to fallen pets, champions, etc., is in order.
The japanese had their Onna Bugeisha, which fought alongside male samurai and were known to be capable warriors.
As for the thread topic:
I am all for it... we are able to design female soldiers, therefore we also should be able to design henchwomen
I'd support adding henchwomen.
Love the Avatar, Niteshade
Another vote for Henchwomen. I try to design all my custom units as female- the "BLAUGHHH" sound male units make when they die gets on my nerves something fierce.
I hope the game Dev's are catching wind of the suggestion.
It just feels like something that totally compliments the games unit design feature immensely
I'm surprised it wasn't in earlier.
'Henchmen' should be connected to both genders, instead of being gender exclusive. Clicking 'random' should have a 50/50 chance of giving a guy or a girl. I guess making a fourth tab for female henchmen might be necessary, but I hope not: I think it'd look cluttered.
That being said, Henchmen definitely should have the female option, its just that I hope it doesn't take two tabs just for henchmen.
I dont think a 4th tab would be absolutely needed, just let clicking the Henchmen tag randomly generate male or female. It'd b a start and I'd be more then happy to see it implemented.
I like the male only henchmen. I can't stand getting too many female heroes. I actually press Ctrl-N not so often because of a bad starting point, but more often because the level 1 hero I can recruit early game is a female. This 50/50 approuch is really rather irritating.
The main reason I play with the henchmen trait is that it allows me to have more male then female heroes.
Did you not even watch Mulan? For all you know your henchmen ARE women already.
T-t-t-trainable bears? oh god no.... OH GOD NO! If my enemy was sending wave after wave of bears at me I'd just surrender, too scary. Bears are voracious, ravaging beats who traveled to Elemental from the outer planes of misery . Desperately seeking out the vulnerable, devouring them hopelessly. Rubbing their bloodstained backs on all your puny man-outposts because the mindless slaughter gives them a great itch, unknowingly and gleefully reaping destruction across the lands. They are nature's assholes.
In the first game I think Tarth was the only faction that could make female troops.
Yeah, I never played Tarth back then....
I know you guys/girls are out there(Devs)
*lures Devs in with more
I'm actually surprised this many people have commented in favor of a post I made lol ( rarely post on forums )
I have a temporary fix for the male only henchmen. I've added the female henchmen.

Thats pretty cool.
I do think I'm going to leave the game as is for now though, in hopes of them implementing the feature in a patch or update.
I"m making due so far in my custom sovereign's game using a few henchmen mixed with champions. I'm still going to keep hoping it gets put into the game though, few days of playing consecutively and I've really not found anything in the game that seem like faults to me besides that ( granted only on the easy difficulty settings)
I've set it up so you are not changing any of the game files, just add this to your units and you can have the basic female henchmen. Basically the female bard, female sheildman and the female torch bearer. (It's like designing your own units in the game, put the appropriate file in your units folder in your (documents\my games\fallen enchantress\units) folder. No need to change core files.
So the version that you worked up that doesnt alter ne game files use the base trait sets that the shieldman, torchbearer and bard use, just can't edit them like on other units?
Hmm, I may take a look at it this week, I'm getting a bit bummed that I still can't launch the game properly even after the update I noticed just got downloaded and applied, s*sigh*
I'll check out your addition though the next time i sit down to play
You can edit the way they look, just not the triats. That is the cost of not changing the core files. I will try another format to see if I can do it without changing the core files... I just had issues with some memory problems (namely these units were equipmentless).
I think there should be prettier looking women for all of the profession, and more appearence choices when creating them.
Ah gotcha, well not being able to edit their traits is a willing compromise id think until they "Hopefully" implement female henchmen. Being able to edit traits on every other unit type kind of makes up for it, minus champions.
At least when they level up we're still free to edit the level up traits n skills as we wish though. Was having fun tryin interesting setups on the default henchmen, taking my torch bearer, sending em down the path of the mage, giving him a flame shooting staff n such, and i made a sniper bow using henchmen, just didnt get a chance to use him much yet
I still look forward to making that badass Valkyrie spear using female henchmen one day
