Very soon we plan to release the very first Map Pack for Elemental: Fallen Enchantress. In addition to a new hand crafted map for every map size along with new stamps to spice up random map generation, it also includes the full Anthys map. A gigantic map that contains the entire known world of Elemental (at least, as of ~150 AC).
Working ships/boats were promised at one point for War of Magic and I was disappointed they or other forms of water movement (portals, underground passages, etc) were not in Fallen Enchantress. I'll wait to see if or how well the AI uses them. I would like to see an add-on that would add more RPG elements (interactions between champions/heroes/rulers) to the game.
thank you very much!
Thank you.
Hmm my guess would be Fallen Enchantress - Last Hope.
I'll buy three if you do put in MP
It won't as much as you like to think but I for one want you to be inconvienence so that I can have MP.
Yes FE is the replacement game to make up for that POS War of Magic game. But the DLC is not.........Let me repeat this.....Yes FE is the replacement game to make up for that POS War of Magic game. The deal was that those who got WOM at a certain time in the past was going to get the next two GAMES for free. They did not say that we were going to get the next two games PLUS all the DLC's for free.
Do you understand now......This is not rocket science.
Leaders and Heroes.
An expansion pack centered around making heroes unique
That said "Last Hope" isn't a bad thought, if nothing else we just suggested 1 trillion new ideas for expansion packs to Stardock
Sincerely~ Kongdej
that actually makes sense
MP should be the SP expereance but with more than one player. You should still be able to look at your sities and units while other people are doing thier turn so no down time so to speak. MP should not be a faster cut down version of the SP game. And you don't need any more balance that what is already in for SP. And there should be a Hot seat (love to play more than one Faction/Civ/side at a time.
Besides, Lionheart doesn't turn into LH.
I would like to see an expansion pack focused tactical battles & tactical battle maps - aka Warhammer miniature battles that would allow players the option to play short standalone battles using a point system for building their army. Then I can open FE for a long campaign game or a short battle. Perhaps, give the players a deck of tactical cards to play that affect the battle or the abilities of the engaged units.
I have played MP 4x games for a while now and we have no problem with this. And as far as humans playing in character to the factions they are playing I say to you who cares that is one of the challanges of playing a human over a predictable AI. I don't see the AI playing in character besides this is a sandlot game not the campaign.
Look for some reason you anti-MP people seem to think that the only way you can have MP in a 4x game is if they dumb it down to a RTS type game (I hate RTS) and balance everything in the game ad nausium. NO THIS IS NOT WHAT WE WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want a fast 4x MP game then play a small or medium map (they don't really take that long to play) I personally only play MP with the largest map settings and max opponets (some AI some Human) And I rarely if ever play with strangers. And these usally turn out to be some of the funnest and most challanging games of the 4x game I'm playing.
I play a lot of AOW:SM MP on large maps only and they are a blast. Yes a game can last from several weeks to several months (we don't care) how ever most usally last on the average of 3 to 5 sessions. Keep in mine that my friends and I are not ADD kids and don't need a game to only last 5 minutes. In fact the longer the game the better.
If you add MP you have to also add the Tactical battles or there is no point. That would be an example of dumbing down MP which would make people who want the SP experance with MP not play your MP. Hence on paper would look like MP is not wanted.
Remember no one wants crappy MP we want a good SP expereance but in a MP setting.
But it does not have to be. Look I don't want any SP features taken away. I want to be able to access them in a MP game. Nothing has to be traded off. Factions don't have to be balanced any more than they already are for SP play. All we want it for the game to be opened up for humans to be opponets as well as AI.
Well your wrong. MP works great in 4x TBS if done right which means you don't cut any of the SP features out.. Oh and by the way I play Shogun 2 and there seems to be a lot of people playing that MP so not sure where you get that the MP is dead.
Also keep in mind that if the Devs of a game do a crappy job on the MP then of coarse players will not play it.
I agree with this. Really the only time MP works with a 4X TBS game, is when it's focused on very quick, war centered games. War is only one small part of a good empire building game like FE.
....
FE is primarily about the spells and the quests. The empire building is decent, the battles are decent.
Its main strength is its customization (sometimes I just customize new factions, and by design its focus is on the unit customization).
If it didn't have a unit editor, it could divert more resources to giving the game 'flavor' ... but FE is designed to be the mother of all fantasy sandboxes, and I think it does a pretty good job of it
What? The best MP experiences I ever have is with games like Civilization 4 and 5, and Europa Universalis 3. These are grand strategy games, and not less epical or less empire building games then Fallen Enchantress.
The way to go is simultaneous turns and no dumbing down of features. Do it the Civilization multiplayer way. People who want short fast action games play team games or 1 vs 1 on smaller maps, we others do FFA's with 6-8 players (some AI's to fill up if needed, so good AI and AI doing diplomacy with the humans are still vital.) My tip is a free to choose turn timer that ticks down while not in a tactical battle, and that lasts longer for the turns the later in game you come (like in Civilization 4 and 5.
We would make a group on steam for FE MP players where we could organize games with serious no quitting players for one session 8-12 hour games, or organize looooong games with saves on the MP forum here. This is usual for the Europa Universalis games that easely takes over 100 hours to play. The usual thing to do there is to play one day a week, same day, same time every week for a bunch of players that agree upon the times to play the game. This way large map games and epical speed games can be organized.
Organizing good MP games is no problem, and there is a huge community nowadays for grand strategy epical MP. We only miss two of the greatest grand strategy games of all times; Galactic Civilizations and Elemental; Fallen Enchantress.
The problem is that serious, no quitting players are almost impossible to find, and trying to get everyone together with the same huge block of time that a 4X game requires is equally hard. If you're blessed enough to have cool friends that want to play a 4X game for hours on end then that's awesome...but I sure don't.
Then you join our Steam-group my friend. We have arround 800-900 members only in the NO QUITTERS group at Steam, with the most fanatical and serious Civilization 5 multiplayers. 10-20 games are organized there daily, if not more counting all the 1vs1 games. Games are hosted at every time of the day or night with members from all over the world, and everything is organized in the group chat where you can tell everybody you are intrested to join a game, or ask if people wants to join your host.
All games are with serious players never quitting. We have one important rule: quitting means you'll be banned from the group, and we have banned alot of players. Reloads are organized from the group-chat.
A typical 6 player FFA game on a pangaea map takes from 6 to 8 hours on quick speed (we use the turn timer). Add ca 2 hours on that for normal speed games. Just remember; Never join a game if you're not sure you have the time to finish it.
Is there much diplomacy in your games? Or mostly war? Do you guys play for a while and save the game or are you in it for the long haul?
In this group people use alot of diplomacy, because we mostly play FFA'ish. Other groups like the Ladder have a rule where no alliances are allowed, since they are more competitive and make rankings. NO QUITTERS-games are without these rules. 3 nations can ally to protect themselves from a stronger player for instance. No rules for diplomacy, everything is allowed. People tend to ally vs the strongest player, so they have a harder time winning.
...any response from the devs on this question? I'm pretty curious about it.
