A number of years ago, the question was asked on the GC2 forum. To my surprise, the average age was somewhere in the early to mid thirties.
I was expecting a younger crowd.
I wonder if that holds true for FE. Are you a GC2 crossover, or new to SD games?
Do you/did you ever play AD&D?
No poll option, so I'll start. I'm 45, and a GC2 crossover. Played AD&D in the early to mid 80's.
I'm known as GeezerGamer at the Civ forums.
36 on the outside, still 16 on the inside!
Ya ya, been there done that. Civ, DnD 1st edition (when the only good choice was a male human), MOOs, MOM, the first RTS (who remembers Dune 2?) etc.
But, really, DnD? How about Rolemaster for a real Geek's RPG?
I do, but I liked dune 1 a lot better
60. First Stardock game was back in their OS/2 days, before GC for OS/2. Never played D&D. First TBS was chess.
Age 26
first heard of Stardock when i bought sins from ebay since it was not out in the UK yet. Rts games i played over the years Range from age of empires, starcaft to empire earth then stuff like supreme commander, and the dawn of war 40k and total war, spellforce etc as for tbs type games the first that i really enjoryed would be wom and sword of the stars have played some others but didn't really get in to them etc. and i agrea with the older you get the more you start to like games like FE. i still enjory action games and wrestling games some of the best metal gear soild, syphon filter series, any game with spider-man in and i love postal 2. and mmo's like SWG the ebst one ever made i might addd hehe (before nge runined it ggrrrr) but know i find i like a lot of the tbs games before i just got bored with them (i wanted action etc but know i can enjory them with out the rts elemtals but i still do prefer them , hint, hint tactical battles hehe) and i liked rts but i was not very good at them i feel i improved a lot comapared to my early days hehe.

GalCiv2 was probably my first SD game.
I have played AD&D (and not just cpu games based on it, I actually bought the 3E books when they released). My dad has boxes and boxes of modules and miniatures. I fondly remember investing hours hand painting more than my fair share of them.
56 and female. How's that for an odd combination? First game I played was Ultima I on c64. Oops, not true, that was the first real game. First game I actually played was Adventure by Scott Adams on a Texas Instruments computer. Don't remember the model but the game was on a tape. Does anyone remember the old text based Infocom games? They were out the same time as the early Ultimas and Wizardry (great game for it's time). Guess I rambled a bit, my first tbs was Civ I and yes, I did play galciv II for a short time. Not really into space games.
Age 59
Never played tabletop D&D, but have played a huge number of computer RPGs (starting with Crusaders of the Dark Savant) and turn based strategy games set in fantasy worlds (Master of Magic, Shadow Magic, Fall from Heaven, etc.)
18.I feel so young. Lol.I played Sins of a Solar Empire briefly but I don't enjoy real-time as much as I used to. I saw a 60 year old posting earlier and wish my dad (who is also 60) could play this, but he isn't very tech-savvy and can barely play his beloved Steel Panthers lol.
edit; I also play Endless Space. Anyone playing that?
22New to SD, Killed my notebook's keybord yesturdy with be@r...I like FE, don't think it's @bout age) @lw@ys pl@yed this style of g@mes.The good thing is: FE doesn't need the keybo@rd to work (@lmost)
That was me. I consider myself fairly tech savvy, having been writing software for a living for more than 35 years and having owned a PC since IBM came out with its first in Nov 1981.
I don't do multiplayer, FPS, or RTS, because my reaction times are shot But I do spend an awful lot of time playing TBS and single player RPG.
22, British Male.
Never played pen and paper RPGs, but played and loved BG et al when i was little. First TBS games were CCTP2 and Test of Time. Sins was my first SD experience and i bought FE purely of the back of Kael's work on FFH2.
> 60
Played D&D and then AD&D. Playing 3.5 with a group now.
Found Civ series at CTP2.
Found GalCiv2 and Stardock when CalCiv2 come out on Steam.
As an old D&D purist, this is the first time I have tried anything like an RPG game.
Loving it.
32 old school TBSG and GSG player, but I wouldn't count myself as an Elemental demographic. I consider this game boring and lacking 70% of the style and substance that made HOMM AoWSM and all the other classics worth playing.
...
Oh my god. You've missed out on so much.
Go to GoG now and check out Arcanum of Steamwork and Magic Obscura, Baldur's Gate 2 Shadows of Amn, Planescape Torment, Mask of the Betrayer, if you're into post apocalyptia or retrofuturism you should also check out Fallout 2, just off the top of my head those are the ones that stand out, I'm missing some great games.
Also check out HOMM and Age of Wonders 2 and Shadow Magic if you like RPGish strategy, while you're at it you may want to check out Disciples 2 it's kind of simple but it's another additive RPG Strategy game. There are a lot of great ones that's just what comes to mind, chances are if you're a D&D fan you'll love all of those games
