Apart from bloody Balmer the economist running a tech company...
I want to make one thing clear.. Windows 7 is the best operating system to have ever been released by Microsoft..
Windows 8 is the worst piece of shit in the whole history of microsoft and i can probably guess theres some kind of espionage thing going on where they convert all user hate mail about the new ui to positive reviews.
Anyway --i think this is the best for everyone because now we can all buy macs. Awesome!
This is the key. Windows 8 isn't just the same old next iteration of Windows where most of the big changes are under the surface. Windows 8 is, among other things, a whole new UI with potentially new ways to accomplish any particular use cases. It takes some time to get familiar with it, but once I did, I appreciated it. I like it.
Complaining about Windows 8 without giving yourself time to learn it is like complaining that a V12 Vantage is a crappy car because you never bothered to learn how to drive a stick and can't get the car out of the driveway. One might not like it after they learn, but without knowing how their criticisms are largely irrelevant.
I'll never not like a V12 Vantage....
It's also a matter of monopoly. As a customer, I should be able to shop for the UI I prefer. I am old school now I guess. I want the old UI. So where do I buy it in the wonderful free market system? Nowhere? Cool. I guess the invisible hand just smacked me like a pimp. I am sure I will get used to the new UI, but honestly the free market seems to just screw people over more than it offers these mythical choices to consumers.
The people need to learn how to not get screwed...like not buy their system...sends a message.
Not really. One person not buying when millions do tends to be the small irrelevant voice in the crowd. The big corporations will not care until over half that crowd quits buying. Not gonna happen anytime soon.
At least we can hopefully look forward to Microsoft getting broken up for being a monopoly sometime in the future.
Well I'm liking Win 8 and increasingly find Metro to be quite useful as a launchpad for everything on my PC, not just apps. It still needs a bit of work and fine tuning, but Metro is the way of the future, though merely a stepping stone to even more highly evolved PC software that until now has only been the stuff of science fiction. So there's no point pissing and moaning about it because Microsoft isn't going to backpedal to suit a bunch of dinosaurs who want to remain in the last century. Okay, maybe dinosaurs is a bit harsh, but the way I see it, it's better to come peacefully than to get dragged kicking and screaming.
Change may not be the easiest of things to embrace, but being stubborn about it and maintaining an unrelenting grip on old tech until you've got bleeding fingernails isn't going to halt its progress. So whether you come peacefully or kicking and screaming, it's going to happen, it is happening. How hard that is on you... uh, depends on you.
With a bit of luck, the powers that be will look into splitting up Apple for being exactly that
You just wait till they say you can't install anything that's not in the MS app store. That may change your mind.
And for the record MS is a bigger monopoly than Apple.
And the only reason I'msinging you this song now is cause you may know somebody in a similarsituation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in asituation like that there's only one thing you can do and that's walk intothe shrink wherever you are ,just walk in say "Shrink, You can getanything you want, at Alice's restaurant.". And walk out. You know, ifone person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick andthey won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking insingin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's anorganization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I saidfifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant andwalking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement. And that's what it is , the Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacre Movement, andall you got to do to join is sing it the next time it come's around on theguitar.
[Good old Arlo]...
Yes someone who assumes that everything stays the same since it always worked before. There is no other solution for MS then to blackbox the OS and the applications.
They are losing the comfy cushion of monopolization, their first loss reported won't be their last since structurally if you build your empire on a monopoly to generate off the charts profits and the monopoly is gone , the off the chart profits are gone too. And with that a nosediving stock value.
So you need to replace your monopoly with something that can generate equal unrealistic profits. And they only way is to become Apple v2.0
It's weird how people can be so gullible about this paradigm shift. The current version is just crap no matter MS fans want to see it differently. It has the worst of both worlds. The only logical next step is the phase out one world and strengthen the other.
Win32 WILL be gone. Skinning will be gone. Skinning was never a part of MS's interest, they'd rather not have it. Uniformity is their mainstay, this is all fringe activity. MS isn't going to keep huge chunks of superfluous code in just to please a tiny group of skinners or customizers.
Remember who said is first, keep this post, print it and hang it on the wall of your office. In 5+ years time you can tell me i am a visionary.
Priceless!
For the record...the people are a bigger monopoly than both of them.
I hate rush hour traffic but I still drive on the highway. Needing it to get somewhere and "liking it" are two different things.
Windows 8 has some nifty features and will eventually be leveraged to force you to upgrade to it.
When finally tablets get to be comparable to today's desktops it might even be useful. Of course by then they will only sell desktops to corporate accounts and refuse to provide driver support for everyone else.
One particularly cool feature of Windows 8 is it's touch screen capability. There is just nothing like having a large screen, high definition monitor and smearing your fingerprints all over it all day long.
Admit it--they're brilliant.
Win98 Good.
WinME Bad.
WinXP good.
WinVista Bad.
Win7 Good.
Win8 Bad.
I'm seeing a pattern here.
Personally, no. However, I have not seen a feature marketed to me that warrants a big change in OSes. Nor do I see a reason to upgrade.
So far its been overhype of some picture password thing and that just makes me roll my eyes.
If you think you're the first to say that skinning is dead, defunct or an unwanted minority niche.....whatever....you are quite deluded.
People have been saying that for DECADES......
Well, Paul.... Wether you like it or not or just not want to face the fact, skinning is dying - a very slow death. It's an unloved minority niche, only being cared for by a hardcore core of die hard skinners.
'Outsiders' have abso-friggin-lutely no idea what it's about - at all.
Back on topic:I've just ordered an additional 120GB SSD.Just gotta decide wether I install Windows 8 on it (dual boot Windows 7) or use it for something usefull.
I agree with you entirely, It's so obvious what is happening. Microsoft must be SO jealous of Apple these days, and even more pissed off that they are late getting on the bandwagon.
We're all doomed........ DOOMED i tell ye!
the term skinning where does it start and how can it die?I wouldnt even use the word skinning - its rather customizing its true that many folks out there dont know what it is and they dont appreciate the glory of a customized look of their own OS... sadlyBut if you show these folks a good skin on your phone or on your desktop they will gain interest and mostly they want the theme or some info on how you made that possible. Its not dead but the "Legend" fails to pass on to others...How can you say customization is dying if you change your wallpaper if there is over a million guys creating walls and icons world wide.CUstomization (skinning starts here) changing the wallpaper of your OS...I also cant see why on earth someone would say ohh windows8 is the deathtoll for SD/skinning/cust. - i wonder did you ever take a look on a skin in windows7Not everything is skinnable...there but most of it is.But why should windows8 be worse?? you can force the old SM back it has everything that windows7 has its all there just not skinned yet,Taskbar previews, scrollbars checkboxes ,file animations,Logonscreen, like every windows a new Iexplorer, right click menus, It has a double taskbar that is scaleable seperately !!!!!!!! windowframes, close min max restore buttons. well i could continue here but it would get to long.It has all that windows7 has only aero is missing but it got a complete new interface for skinners to get creative on...I dont get it what is the point in saying it will kill skinning if you could possibly skin more on 8 than you did in 7
According to one market analyst, while MS may be a late comer to the pad/phone market, it is still a major market force and will leave Apple in its shadow. See story here.
Also, Apple isn't getting it all its own way.....
*Samsung is edging its way ahead of Apple in the Smartphone wars.
*The mini iPad hasn't been too well received, with some saying it has an ugly screen.
*UK judge orders Apple to reword an apology to Samsung.
And if Steve Ballmer can be believed, the prediction that Microsoft will again beat Apple may have already begun.
I completely agree with that... My system becomes very heavy when i always use new operating system i.e windows 7. Now i dont feel like upgrading my system anymore. I'm happy with windows XP.
I am not deluded, i have given are very good analysis of MS paradigmshift and it's ultimate consequences.
Remember me for saying windows will be a blackbox OS runnignonly MS certified applets, that skinning will/won't be possible depends on MS taking an interest in it and allows it to be done, not if we freely choose to do so.
Sofar it has scrapped aero for some minimalistic buttugly crap where you can change only the colors or sizes so i wouldn't count on it.
Until MS quits supporting it. Then you will need to upgrade.
petrossa....I'm not sure what browser and/or text editor you are using to post comments but you tend to add a half page of dead space to each one.
I am then obliged to edit it out.
Can you simply type straight into the comment box.
you can continue to use it.
you won't get windows updates for it but it will continue to function just fine.
