Greetings!
Today’s the big day. In fact, 2 hours from now 1.0 will go live.
Now, to save yourself pain and aggravation please do the following: UNINSTALL the beta. Completely. That also means go into the my games\fallen enchantress directory and rename it to something else (or delete it entirely). Edit: ensuring that \program files (x86)\stardock games\FallenEnchantress is also cleaned out is a good sanity check from after the beta.
Don’t take any chances. Start from a clean setup.
Best of Luck with the Launch Frogboy, Kael and everyone else at Stardock. Was one heck of a wild and fun ride with the beta most of the time (unlike Elemental which I found not fun and shelved after it was streamlined to put it on its feet). Not sure if all the last stuff (final nerfs on magic and heroes across the board if modest) exactly fits my taste but they seem sensible and the game seems round now. Kudos for effort and result (feeling a bit to polished overall for my tastes being a hopeless fan of rough but allready shining gems awaiting polish bodes well for the state of the game overall in my experience)Not overly worried about the reviewiers here, lots of the older geeks in the reviewing business should find a soft spot in their hearts for a true deep 4x gem (and the success of the most recent X-Com reboot bodes well as will Fallen Enchantress I'm sure) which I have no doubts about Fallen Enchantress being. Its not just the money, good reviews are given out to genuinely good games either...Wish I had more time given 2 halftime jobs (one shaping up to be more of a full time job. Alas.) which eat up allmost anything I have in free and not free time... (still good mind you... ) to play the final version alot more. On the other hand when I might get some more time in a few month or a year splendid mods are bound to be around.Oh and of course: Thank you for the free final version of a very good game in my favorite genre and setting. Much apreciated. And thanks again for installing and using solar power + sharing your experiences about it from an americans perspective, will stop by in the respective threads given I can make a tiny bit of time. Another 3 Mb/s peak downloader here and still brimming with anticipation. Those who have trouble with it: Let the download run (should last 2-3 hours with our speeds) and do something else. Works out fine most of the time for me. Maybe it will help you either... (3 Gigs isn't much mind you. 20 Gig stuff makes me run to places where I can download stuff with 5 MB/s very much increasingly lately. Curses on those programmers wasting coding space. Elite fitted on less space than this post here and all attached to it probably. Those where the austere times where drive space was valuable... Grognard rage out... )
Nice and easy transition............
I'm not sure why it was such a problem for so many to remove the beta...
Go to Add/Remove programs. Select from list. Done. It's that simple....for XP users.
Frogboy's instructions call for also reming the game data, which is NOT done when uninstalling and has to be done manually
Uninstall first, delete folder second...oh well, everyone has to learn somewhere, at some point.
For me, it wasn't in Add/Remove programs.
Good luck Frogboy and the team at Stardock! May the game do well.
I can not uninstall the beta ver at all from control panel / addremove in win7 32.
I was wondering if I could just remove it manualy and clean it out of the reg would work?
Hey Froggy (and the rest of Stardock) I want to thank you again for the freebie. I felt it entirely unnecessary as I was happy with Elemental after a few major patches, and I've never seen a game company do that that I recall.
I appreciate the respect, however...even knowing you might've lost some customers, it's hard for me to imagine anyone doing that.
Later,

My experience when that happens is that the easiest way to do it is reinstall into same directory (doesn't even have to be exact same version) and then immediately perform an uninstall. The reinstall should replace the uninsaller with a working one.
