Only 2 days left until release
I don't want to sound sappy here but we have been really touched by all the support we've gotten from you guys over the past couple of years that we've been working on this.
One of the motivations for making so-called "niche" games is that we really enjoy our tight knit communities. We enjoy hanging out with you, listening to your ideas, arguing different game designs, etc.
Earlier today, we went "gold" which simply means 1.0. I like to think that games are never truly finished. They simply ship. For me, that just means that 1.0 is the beginning of our journey together -- not the end.
In the meantime, let me share with you some of the things we've been doing since the last public beta and 1.0...

I've gotten a lot of questions from people over the past couple of years about why we are giving away Fallen Enchantress to the early adopters of War of Magic. They say people won't remember War of Magic (it was 2 years ago). They say it won't "buy" good will back from those who didn't like WOM.
It doesn't matter. The reality is, our job is to make some of the world's best PC games. Period. Regardless of the reasons, War of Magic didn't live up to that standard. And since we developed it internally, we had the ability to make good on that.
The budget for Fallen Enchantress was about twice that of War of Magic. I am a firm believer that people DO remember when companies backup their stated beliefs with deeds.. They remember when companies make good on their word. I think that in the *long-run* (and Stardock is one of the oldest non-public game developers in the industry so we think long-term), people will have confidence that we mean what we say: If you buy a Stardock game, it will be excellent.
A huge thank you
Tuesday is the big day. It's hard to believe that in the next week or so we'll have a pretty good idea of the fate of Fallen Enchantress. We hope that people out there like what we've done here. We have you to thank for it. Few games have had the opportunity to spend so long in a public, no-NDA beta where people could give their suggestions, criticisms and ideas. The game is better for it. And that couldn't have happened without your help.
We look forward to reading your feedback and deciding together what we should do next with this game that we love so much.
Awesome.
*Slow clapping* Thank you for making a great game. Nice to see some of these bug fixes.
I really hope this game does well.
As I said in another Discussion Thread, there are times when the last 7.5 months (since I down-loaded Fallen Enchantress) have seemed like a lifetime; and there are times when it has seemed far too short. All in all, it's been entertaining, educational, and a heck of a ride ... Thanks for taking us along!
Some of the sillier reviewers will have problems with the idea of a TBS, or confuse strategy games with RPGs. Doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure the game will do very well. Best of luck with it, Brad.
Any AI changes? No? Strategic spell casting?
Forgive me here for asking this, but if this game goes well for you guys,....
CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A BUSINESS SIMULATION GAME!?
You can make it fun and goofy at the top, but serious underneath. The attention to detail you folks have with numbers and making them relate to the macro world is amazing. If you do make one, I will personally pledge to buy every game you ever make from then on. I'll even set up a trust for my kids that buys a copy of each new release after I pass.
please?
They did something like this eleven years ago:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Corporate_Machine
It was a good, stylish sim, with lots of numbers underneath, and a strong AI.
2 days to go!! Woot! Cant wait to get home from the field and DL FE! Been a fun 2 years and ya those of us who were there 2 years do remember, and thats why(I think) most of us are still here. You made amends and thats more than can be said for many game companies. You listen to our ideas and have even incorporated some of them...again more than most do. You've earned my trust and more(like my interesting conversations with my wife for example). Keep up the good work!!
Will there be any kind of hard copy of FE with a cloth map or anything like that? Just wondering because im geeky like that.
The press, hmm, yeah, I'll go with if you don't have anything nice to say...
Congrats to all at Stardock! And by the way, what no video this time?! We'll let it slide, the change log is worth 2 videos!
looking forward to release. I play this game a lot; it's tons of fun and I hope a lot of other people discover this gem as well.
also, I like the faction trait changes. splitting some of them up will let us create more unique factions.
I like all the changes but these two are the best. I wonder if the trog berserk is taken from this post, if so I hope we see more racial active abilities later.
congratulations! Already the game is good by me look forward to spending the whole weekend playing FE
I lose track of time playing Fallen Enchantress. Only the best of games have this effect on me and they are few and far between.
I appreciate the care, dedication, and effort your team has put into Fe and know by actions - not just words - that Stardock stands behind its titles.
I will recommend this and other Stardock games to my friends and any gamers that ask my opinion. This is one way I can thank you for a job well done.
I hope you have a stellar release reception and wish you all the best in the future. Now I will look forward to the first of hopefully many Fallen Enchantress expansions.
Please relay my thanks to your team, and thank you especially for standing solidly behind your producta.

It has been an awesome ride. I just regret being busy with work and school to not be able to play it more. Thanks for listening to our suggestions. I have to believe it pretty hard at time with many voices telling you to go different directions. This game has tons of potential to do very well.
Can we please have the game show our units movement path and allow us to confirm or cancel BEFORE the unit actually moves?
It is so frustrating when your unit moves off and wastes its whole turn moving in some unexpected way you did not want/intend it to move due to pathfinding issues or unexpected terrain movement costs.
Thanks for the list. The rebalance to factions and some custom faction attention looks solid. It's been a great beta. Thanks for all the hard work.
Awesome work Stardock! I'm refusing to update till release. Its been a long time in the making and I can't wait to try out the complete but, not so finished product!
Thanks Stardock! To a good launch! Good work everyone!
I never worked on the beta simply because I didn't have the time. But I have been following things through the forums on how Fallen Enchantress has been developing. I was always happy to hear how you all were really listening to feedback and the community seemed to be, overall, happy with your work.
On another note, I certainly will not forget that you have given myself, and others, Fallen Enchantress for free because War of Magic didn't "live up to the standard." I think that really says a lot for how you all feel towards really putting out quality products as well as realizing that your customers are more than mere numbers. I wish other companies would have the integrity you all do.
Looking forward to this game when it is released on Tuesday. That bug correction made me laugh though.
Way back when, I remember being hesitant about buying into the EFE beta. I am NOW, so glad I did, and would not hesitate to buy into any other beta that Stardock were to offer.
I have had a great time, and am looking forward to many more great times playing EFE. If, by any chance there are gamers out there that don't like EFE, then it is their loss, they know not what they speak.
Awesome, so are we going to get some more epic art like a pic with all the sovereigns getting"blasted"(Ie drunk, hammered, wasted) around a bar to celebrate the launch of the game
I do remember when WoM was only an idea on the forums.
I do remmeber when there were the first announcement.
I do remember some discussions about game design.
I do remember the huge fail.
I do remember when you said Fallen Enchantress would be given to those early adopters.
I do remember when you announced that Kael was hired.
And I'm glad to see a company that has some ethic.
Thank you.
Congrats on a job well done. E:FE is a great game. Not much more to say until Tuesday
