It looks like Fallen Enchantress is ready for release. I don't know what differences there are between 0.99 and 1.0 yet but it's probably safe to pass judgment.
So.....
What do you think the Metacritic average of Fallen Enchantress will be by December 1, 2012? Put in your guesses.
Here are some recent game releases to compare to.....
Dishonored 91
XCOM 89
Borderlands 2 89
Torchlight II 89
Transformers: Fall of Cyberton 79
Prototype 2 76
The Sims Super Natural 71
Retro City Rampge 70
Of those, I've only played Torchlight 2 and XCOM. It's so hard to judge FE to those games because they're so different.
I do remember Civilization V got scores like 90 and FE is better. I hate guessing but it shouldn't get anything lower than an 85. So I'll say 87 only because the reviewers these days tend to be kids looking for explosions and won't appreciate the vast amount of hours one can get out of this game.

Amusing idea for a Discussion Thread, Mmrnmhrm. Actually I had the same idea a few days back; but I didn't execute, and you did. So, Good on You, Mate !
I think that FE deserves an honest 90; but I don't think it will quite achieve that level. Civ V was moving on the whole Sid-Meier-is-unique vibe, and E:FE (as we all know) has the E:WoM Albatross hanging around its neck (metaphorically speaking). I probably would have picked 87 as the Metacritic score, but since TheJaker has already taken that, I will go with: 88.
BTW, what kind of prize are you going to award for the Winning Prediction, Mmrnmhrm ?
I don't understand how Civ V received a 90. Definately not what I would have given it. These metrics should leave room for games that are clearly better.
As for FE, I would say it's deserving of an 80 in its current state.
However, knowing that additional content, quests, stamps, and props are all being included with 1.0 (and that doesn't even touch the campaign and workshop), I would say that....if these small balance issues are taken care of, FE is in for a solid 87.
If some of the larger changes were added in: More advanced AI, more diplomacy options, better road mechanic, more summoning spells, better balanced essence, tactical combat, RPG elements to the sandbox mode, etc....well, you get the point. Adding these can easily push FE into the 92-97 range.
This game is REALLY looking awesome
90.
This game is the comeback kid. That's a rarity these days.
I'm pretty conservative and would say EFE deserves a 75 or so ... Civ V definitely did NOT deserve a 90. IMO, at release, Civ V was a huge disappointment and should not have scored much better than EWoM's Brad-confessed fail launch. Civ V has improved slightly since, but still falls short and it seems they won't be fixing it anymore, as the recent patch plans I read about seemed applicable to G&K; vanilla, my guess, is abandoned. :/
E:WoM was rated as 53. A lot of lessons were learned, while there certainly have been a number of "This is blah!" type posts, I have not seen anyone say FE is worse than WoM, and I feel confident most players feel it is an improvement, certainly much better than WoM at launch, so I would guess it would probably hit 70.
I feel it's pushing 85.
I'll undercut that by 1, 84. Now to see if I win the showcase showdown!
91.
This game will live on for quite a long time. 90 from me.
The answer to this, my friends, is of course, 42. FE's # is in good company.
Getting serious for a moment, comparing to Sid's Alpha Centauri, which has a 92, I would give FE an 87. For me at least, Alpha sets the bar - FE is closing in.
1 dollar Bob.
Given the current scores... I feel it is 90.
And the retail price is.... 1 dollar
At least 80. I've played far worse that got far better on Metacritic. At least 80. Probably deserves more, but you know how reviewers are...
83
I'd say an 80. Probably not much more.
Pointless predicting the score, it will depend heavily on the campaign which we can't judge.
I'm new here (just bought the game), and have no right to vote, but review scores are often so insane/paid for/biased that I want to take a shot based on industry assumptions. Most people here seem to feel like the game is in good shape, so the big question is: will reviewers be rooting for Stardock to pull it together after WoM, will they feel bitter about it, or will they be neutral? I think the bias will be slightly positive. Also, I think metacritic is more interesting in terms of the Pro/User voting ratio. Usually, something is wrong if there's a big difference, though obviously trolling and anti-DRM backlash can affect the results.
My guess: 87/9.1
Mmrnmhrm's List with User Scores Added:
XCOM 89/8.1
Dishonored 91/8.4
Borderlands 2 89/8.2
Torchlight II 88/9.0
Transformers 79/7.7
Prototype 2 76/6.3
The Sims SN 71/6.0
Retro City R 70/8.9
I am gonna say 75 to 80
74

I'm guessing somewhere between 80 and 85. Niche games rarely get good scores, it's always mass market bullshit at the top.
