I changed some things I didn't like.
Download: http://fallenenchantress.nexusmods.com/mods/5
Installation: LargeUI 0.7 and higher uses the Mod manager for installation
Manual Installation: Open the file and extract the files into your installation directory in the /Screens/ folder.
The .dxpack is the modded UI, and the .rar file contains the originals. The different UI pieces are completely modular, you can pick and choose what you like and what you don't. Note that some won't work if you're running on small resolutions. Sometimes the intent is to use more screen space.
UnitDetailsWnd.dxpack: http://i.imgur.com/EWYj5.jpg
I moved the traits and equipment off the portrait. The traits now appear in rows of 2 so we don't have to scroll the list so much. Both equipment and trait lists are longer. If they reach the end of the list, the scroll buttons will appear.
LevelUpWnd.dxpak: http://i.imgur.com/leNZ6.jpg
I added another row for traits. The first row fills up first, then the second one. If both rows are filled up, scroll buttons appear like normal. I also changed so we see all the relevant stats, particularly spell resist and spell mastery that were previously hidden.
CityHudEmptyEntryWnd.dxpack: http://i.snag.gy/qFchS.jpg
I added a full ring around an empty essence slot. The ring takes the colour your faction has (in screen it is red).
CityHudFullEntryWnd.dxpack: http://i.snag.gy/qFchS.jpg
I also added the same ring as above when the essence slot has been filled. I love that the icons appear on the city HUD, but they are too hard to look at due to how they "fade out" at the top.
LoreBookPopupWnd.dxpack AND SpellBookWnd.dxpack: http://i.imgur.com/HA1R7.jpg
Longer spell list means less scrolling through it. Yes, the book looks a bit odd but more stuff on screen = better. The list was extended 250 pixels or 40%.
The following files are "nested", they go together to replace the main strategic UI. It is not recommended that you choose only some.
MainGameWnd.dxpackAND MiniMapWnd.dxpack AND MainActionsContextWnd.dxpackAND MainContextDetailsSubWnd.dxpackAND MainContextVitalsWnd.dxpack
I enlarged the minimap somewhat (100 pixels width & 70 pixels height). Also End Turn button is larger. I have also extended the left context menu for unit selection and city selection in strategic mode by 200 pixels. This makes it easier to see traits for those units with many traits, also easier to manipulate the production queue of cities. There are also more commands available in the bottom action menu.

I recommend restoring all files to original before applying any patch.
Don't report bugs in FE Support when running a modded game. If you find a bug, reproduce it without mods and then report it.
Looks like it is probably your resolution, think this was primarily designed for enlarging interface on higher resolution, it is pretty small when run at these.
Here is mine running at 1920x1200
Thank you guys... Then it may take me looking into the DesktopX thing. Although, honestly, I know nothing of what that is... but I am willing to learn. So... off I go.
Have a blessed day,
-kmkenpo
Suh-weet... Thank you for pointing me to the software that could be used to modify/center the popup window. Here is a final of the adjusted item.

Thank you again... this is one GREAT mod. And now that it fits my screen resolution, its even better. Yay!!!!!!! I feel special!
Well done!
If you'd like, I could add a link to your version in the original post if you upload it somewhere. Or I could include it in the mod, as a low-resolution option of that particular screen, with your permission of course.
I got the game through Steam and so have unpacked to the relevant folder - steamapps/blah blah/screens - but don't get the mod - incidentally the ecomap mod works fine so it's not something silly like I don't have 'use mods' enabled
any ideas?
No idea. If you installed it right it works. What folder exactly did you install to?
Also you can try deleting everything in temporary folder C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - Fallen Enchantress\screens
When you unpacked, it asked if it's ok to overwrite files, did you answer yes? Yes to all?
@Elmet... I have the Steam version as well, so here is where I placed the files:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Elemental Fallen Enchantress\screens
It will ask to overwrite files, just tell it YES... Heavenfall included files to undo things if you don't like the changes (Backups.rar). It shouldn't be a big fuss to get it to install, as long as you are installing to the correct directory. Hopefully you can get it worked out... I am sorry for your troubles.
Thanks HF - clearing the temp files worked - now I just have the same problem as kmkenpo with the pop-up not being centered - highest res I can get 1280x1024 - downloaded Desktopx but no idea where to start - I think you can tell I'm no coder. Well not at least since the z80 days.
@Elmet... It is TOTALLY up to Heavenfall, but I could send you the file that I modified. My resolution is 1280x1024, so I had to make some adjustments to center it. I would post a link to the file, but again, it's his mod and I feel it best to ask before I do.
Go ahead, I just can't add it to the original post because I couldn't open your file for some reason (said in PM).
It's ok fellas - problem solved - bought a new fandango monitor - running 1920x1028 like the big boys
Thanks for all assistance
@Elmet... I am glad you are able too, enjoy!
@Heavenfall... It must be the version that I am using, as you said in the PM. Still, it's probably for the better anyway, what if the file that I have adjusted caused a fire or some economic break down in an alternate universe? That would certainly NOT be my idea of a fun way of spending Christmas, but I do appreciate that you tried to look into it. You have done a great deal for this community, more appreciated than you know... thank you doing what you do.
Thank you for this great mod!
HF, not sure, if I haven't asked about this already. Can you expand the description in tactical battle. when hoverign over enemy, there is a chance and damage ranges displayed as well as information if the target is voulnerable/resistant to weapon type.
Can you expand it further i.e. base attack 20, +3 to attack due to initiative higher then target, etc.. all those situational bonuses that are applied but are not displayed anywhere
No, I can't really change what data gets displayed from the .exe. I can only increase or decrease the size of things.
I'll post in support as ui suggestion
Up-to-date for FE 1.10
HF, can you add unrest value to the city description in the bottom left?
Nope.
Mod is up-to-date for 1.12
Would you be able to increase the portrait size of the turn orders in tactical combat?
Would also be nice to extend the spell casting bar in tactical combat so I can see more spells.
Great mod btw, exactly what I was looking for.
I'll answer in HF part - there is no way to mod tactical battles
