This is my first thread so don't mind if the topic is messy or something.I will make 3 levels when i post and hopefully more will be posted.Highskilled [H] 9-10 skilledSkilled [S] 7 or moreRegular[R] 6 or lessEDITED ABOVE TO CURRENT.I will also start adding if there are suecide players in the game & if there are eco players in the game.First up: This is an intense game with alot of skilled players E.g. PlayerSlayer, Diehard, Carpetbomb, Ooloo and more. The Deciding Factor in my opinion is Carpetbomb being able to defeat his opponent faster then anyone else and then being able to feed his team. Tho I think there is alot of intresting 1v1's going on in this game but Carpet sent ~50k Cred and some of Metal/CrystalVs My teams 0, Thus ending the game. I made a big misstake losing my Progren and wasn't able to recover from that and I also upgraded my fleet supply to fast resulting in a ~200 Supply being unused after I lost my Cap... The most even matchup here is Ooloo vs Diehard in my opinion, also I would like to point out that Diehard is almost getting 0 Feed compared to the others in his team and still outperforming. Replay can be found Here and in the External Link button.FOR ALL NEWBIES READ GRIMMS GUIDE TO 5S HEREGuide to watch replays:
How to watch them?
I watched and enjoyed all of your replays. I hope someday to be good enough to play with pros like you.
Please post more games.
To replays from this evening, sadly both ends because a team getting a crash but there is really ALOT to learn for new players and regulars in these 2.This replay got a A-B-A-A-A-A-B-B-B-B setup where A is team A and B is Team B, Obviously. Players included: Doci, Fallen, BagsX, Huymac, Juffos, Siddy, And more. This one is less skilled but still higher then average I would say. A Sandwich for both teams and afterwards eco. Things to watch in these games. How the good players are expanding, as usuall. How the bad players are expanding. Then you should think, "what do I do when I expand?" In what direction? How to behave in a sandwich situation? Most noobs panic, flee, run, starbase. All of those 4 are Stupid. Yes, Starbasing is stupid if ur not vasari. Instead, Put up another factory, Get turrets and repairs and try to hold untill your eco can feed u for something big.I finished a third game before I could post so here it is aswell. The teams are ok but pretty stacked. GG is called instantly in a teamchat because of starting positions. it's still an ok game but also pretty onesided.Tho It's good for you noobies to see how to play agressive and defensive.Including: Fallen, Me, Xwing, KHAAAANNNN, Bagsx, and more. replay here
Red ruby I've already told you posting replays are a waste of time. I tried to watch two of them and it had nonexistent stuff happen in game like caps blowing up and players like doci losing to pwnshop. This happened in my own replay thread so I just gave up.
Plus for the longest time I thought you were smurfing as Rage|Above|All. Lol.
Lol, and what do you use as you're ingame nick?Seen plenty of replays working but I'm not checking mine anymore tho.I know who the smurf Rage Above All is. But ofcourse, I wouldn't tell anyone. And maybe I'm smurfing aswell, who knows? If there is anyone here that enjoys looking at Fallen when he rages OR if anyone wanna watch how you SHOULDN'T Play, look at sleeper in this game. Or in any game for that matters. This one is for the lulz.
U use Sinkiller on ICO aswell? Never seen you afaik. What is causing these issues?Sounds wierd. Maybe It's you? Never had any abnormalities in any of the replays I watched but I know in other games where you play up a replay that is a different version, the replay acts wierd. So maybe this has something to do with the DLCS? Anyway, All DLCs are installed now, I thought I had all but I didn't so I bought them today. Also latley I see so many new players, regulars and sometimes people with several hundres of games, going 1-2 civlabs really early as frontline/deathspot. It's fucking stupid. If you can handle it, Fine. But 99% of the players on ICO can't. Especially if you are in a game with people of higher skill lvl then yourself. For example. In this replay Jbaum is doubled, Look how he handles it vs 2 players less skilled then him. And also, the guy that is vs me.Going 2 civlabs, not colonizing in the propper direction. Getting the volc and not fighting for neutrals. He dies in the first 6-7 minutes and he couldn't do anything, Not only because he is a noob. But because he is going Civlabs and getting Civ techs in a 5s instead of spamming LF.Pros and Cons with CivlabsPros with 1 lab:•The Terran Tech for Vasari & TEC. For the Advent, it's usefull as eco but costs too much otherwise imo, but if your planning on getting 2 civlabs then fine.•2 Civ labs: You can colonize Volcanic and Ice planets, Trade for tec, mineral upgrade for vasari, culture for advent. Now all these things that you get from Civlabs, is leading to less LF.1 Lab is more then 2 lf less. 1 lab + tech is atleast 3-4 lf. Cons: You can't do shit with Civlabs really. You can't get military research (READ: HP UPGRADE ARMOR UPGRADE MAIN WEAPON UPGRADE) because you're out of logisticslots if you don't upgrade logislots and that results in even less LF.•Its fucking stupid•Pretty much tells ur opponent that you got 0 cash for LF and that they're free to spam and overwhelm you.Replay here
Also to Sinkillr, When I tell sleeper he sucks and that he needs to lose his sucky attitude, he sais: "STFU Red, You Suck, Doci and Grimm owns you in less then 10minutes. Well sleeperetard, they win vs everyone on ICO except for themself 99% of the time. Big suprise. So no, I don't think he is doing it on purpose, because I don't think there is a human being that could be that retarded. But maybe he got some kind of mental problem I dno.
Really good game, No minidumps disconnects or leaves. Players, Doci,Multiz,Jbaum,Dumdee,Juffos,Siddy,Huymac, and more.As usual, look at expansion from ecos and frontline. How should you behave when you have dual eco and a suicide spot? When does the ecos fleet? Please feel free to ask questions. Replay Here
So it's sunday and alot of good people online. This game is sadly pretty onesided but as usuall, there is still alot to learn. This game contains alot of the best players in sins, including: Grimm, Fallen, Oli, Specter/Achilloraptor, Matze, X-Wing, Dusky, UNSCAdmiral, Bender and myself ofcourse. In this game we got an eco, a suicide spot, a sandwich and shitloads of neutrals. Neutrals are IMPORTANT.
Lol how often does this happen? 1 game out of 50?
Hopefully I will be able to post 1 game tonight.Bumpps
Hello Red Ruby,
When someone is in the eco slot and is asked to go early feed or late feed, what does that mean and how do you go about it?
Hello Red Rudy,
I would like to talk about the lobby area for the multi-player. I noticed that a lot of players scores that don't seem to add up. For exp., If someone has 500 games played in total, and out of that amount, he or she has 250 wins and 11 loses. Doesn't this seem suspicious. Where is the 239 missing games? What I mean is there a lot of cheating in Sins Multiplayer? I can understand mini dumps of games, but you see a huge difference between wins and losses and a lot of missing games.
Do players cheat by hosting games, and while playing, they would pause the game for a long period of time to make the other player drop.
Or how about having two Sins accounts. You basically play against yourself, but one side almost always wins, while the other side is a dump for your losses. Or even worst, play a 5s game with your two accounts. Both accounts will play on separate teams, but your loss dump account will throw the game to make the 5s more like a 6v4 match up.
I notice a couple of hosted games where its 2v2ai or 3v3ai. Is this a good way to keep ass%&*#s out of the game, by having human players side against the ai.
Maybe im being paranoid, but I would like to know if you feel that there is a lot of cheaters in sins multiplayer and how to spot them?
Thank you.
Industrial
If you just QUIT from a lost game instead of SURRENDER and quit after this, you will not have a loss in your record. So quit=nothing, surrender or defeat=one loss.
Just to clarify, it is NOT considered "cheating", "sneaky", or "unethical" to simply quit a game...players who quit aren't doing it to avoid a loss on their record, but rather they are doing as a courtesy to not drag games out unnecessarily...if you know your team is going to lose, the right thing to do is simply quit so that a new game can be started...
The reason why "quit" is preferable to "surrender" is that if you surrender, the replacement AI will NOT be friendly to your team...sometimes you may be wrong, and your team actually could win...or perhaps you have to leave because something came up in real life...either way, surrendering really screws over your team because they not only lose a human player, but the AI replacement will turn against them...quitting on the other hand ensures the AI replacement will at least try to work with the remaining members of your team...
AAAAhhhhh!!!. It makes sense now. Thank you for your wisdom Sensei Seleuceia.
Hello Sensei Red Ruby,
I would like to talk about how to deal with the Vasari Starbase as a TEC player. What are the best ways to defeat the Orky. What fleet setup would be good to use against an Orky, especially during the start of the game when i'm spamming out light frigates. I usually role with a akkan capital ship.
How to you deal with the situation when an enemy migrator gets to your home world when your main fleet is on the front lines? Do you crank out LF on your HW to deal with the threat. Do you bring back your main fleet to deal with the problem. Do you sell off assets on your home world an ignore the orky. Are hanger bays with bombers a good investment against migrators/build stage orky, from invading your planets.
How do you deal with a enemy planet with two star bases on it? One or both being an Orky.
Any scrapes of wisdom from you will be eagerly devoured by this hungry grasshopper.
backup,
go to "how to deal with starbases" section of the grimm's guide
its not a 100-percent coverage, but still pretty good
Make sure you culture the enemy starbase. This prevents it from using its abilities. Highly useful.
Hello can you please upload some more replays thank you.
Hey ReD-RubY,
I'm kinda newer to the game, but browsed all of the bigger guides and most of the tactics mentioned on wiki. What really adds to my experience though, are these replays you were uploading. Sadly, there is too little games of mediocre quality on youtube and the replays are hard to find too.
Don't get discouraged by the replays being buggy - the thing that happens is that a player in the replay "disconnects" and a stupid AI takes after him, but it is fairly easily recognized and when you restart the replay it usually doesn't happen again.
If you are still playing I'd be happy to see some more recent replays. Or if you know about some other sources of replays please let me know, but I have searched pretty thoroughly.
I think the multiplayer community is almost the same alive as when the Sins came out, but sadly we have very little "popularization" of it like commented replays on youtube or streaming. I think such effort from even a few skilled players would help the multiplayer immensely.
Thank you very much and cheers.
@ caucau,
I don't think Red-Ruby plays anymore (at least not under this nick). The replays also break with each patch.
Unfortunately some of the replays are so old they've seen multiple patches.
Your best bet is to auto record games yourself. You are bound to end up in a game full of pros. Then watch the replay and see what the Pro's are doing.
Some players to watch (these are very strong players), are Diamonddragon, fallen, x-wing, doci, grimm, achilloraptor, sb=>ferdie, oli, hummer, bender, & Big. (there are others but this is a start).
Watch how they play in various positions i.e. aggro, suicide, eco etc. and how they expand/colonise etc.
The replays will help you tremendously, but playing 5s games will help even more. There are things you just cant get from watching replays alone.
I am a fairly new player & nearly up to 800 games and only just starting to get the hang of the more strategical side of things/reading the map etc. (this for me was very hard to get I was virtually map blind for a long time).
Also remember most strong players have been playing for 4-6 years, hence have thousands of games under their belt; maybe even tens-of-thousands, as records reset with each expansion.
...anyways good luck this is probably one of the hardest MP community to get into.
