I assume that a lot of us will be playing Guild Wars 2, so I figured that I'd start a thread on it.
Prerelease is this Saturday. I personally am gone for the weekend, but plan on playing quite a bit on Monday (assuming they don't kill the servers prepping for release on Tuesday).
I guess that Vlad is playing on Tarnished Coast, so I'll probably go there as well. My understanding is that server transfers are very pain free though, so it might not be a big deal.
I'll also probably start with a Mesmer, if anybody cares.
My understanding from people who played in the beta is that its a really solid game, so I might be playing it a lot. I've been waiting for a non derivative, well executed MMORPG for a long time.
Oh, I'll give it another shot too (or the manor, as I passed 40 last night), but I would definitely want a full party, and a dedicated tank. My warrior, even completely respecc'd, would have not done a whole lot better last night.
Me and my guardian friend will probably be available to do CM whenever.
I'm currently grinding out to 80 at the Straits of Devastation
because the zone is basically one giant event that rewards players with massive amounts of experience as you complete objectives. Apparently it's the best place to go after 80 if you want to farm experience...
WaitWaiting. Why would youawait to farm experience after 80....?
As you gain experience after 80
you continue to gain skill points.
Skill points can be spent at the mystic forge (like 500 or so) for recipes and ingredients and other awesomely important things.
I just noticed this thread. I transferred my characters over to tanished coast. I was hoping to join your guild to play with other stardock fans. my account name is Sorael.1435. Thanks.
Invitation will most likely be offered by yours truly
yeah - i had someone else from the forums as me for a invite yesterday and I sent them one... can't remember who off the top of my head. We're actually getting a decent # of folks in the guild now. Good stuff. Now if only I could convince PeterDumpTruck to pick up gw2 that the prophesies might be fulfilled.

I am aware
Alright, the second dungeon (CM), went a lot better. I think we cleared it twice in little over an hour, and I gained a level each time, as well as some slightly above average loot. That makes it quicker than running around doing tasks for me. AND, I was able to keep my DPS built for the entire thing, only switching out an elite summon for an elite banner.
All-in-all, it was a stark contrast to last night's AC attempt. Pleasurable, even.
oo... what level needed for that one?
40
So, the level 30 dungeon is brutally challenging, but the level 40 one is a breeze? These guys really need to start adjusting balance.
AC isn't brutally challenging if you have the proper party.
However, I feel that Caudecus Manor is too easy, as Twilight Arbor is rather brutal, (moreso than Ascalonian Catacombs)
My friend and I plan on taking on Sorrow's Embrace (60) and then Citadel of Flame (70) at some point tonight.
Welwit other than Dax and Bravo, we had a full party of 40's. We did find it pretty easy, though. I, for one, only got totallyknocked out once per run, though most fights had at least one of us knocked down. No wipes, though, and the cash at the end much more than payed for any repairs.
Damn, I really need to get to level 30 with my ele. Of course, getting to level 30 is the hard part. I was sort of hoping there would be a lot less pointless grinding in GW2 than in other MMO games.
level 40*
Well, level 30 is when the Ascalonian Caverns unlock, so that's what I'm going to be shooting for, as soon as I feel like grinding the 16 or so levels needed for that just by doing the exact same events over and over again.
Ascalonian Catacombs are supremely annoying and require a large time investment to complete. I'd do tasks until 40
THEN do Caudecus Manor for a ton of levels.
Yeah, I'd like to start doing Dungeons too (I'm 62 or something like that). I haven't really tried them much yet at all since I dislike doing raids with PUGs quite a bit.
Me and a friend just tried CM explore mode...
it took us 3 hours and over 40 deaths to complete. I feel that it took a really long time, but that fact is offset by the fact that you are awarded with medals for your work. (we got 25)
These medals, each uniquely awarded for completion of each dungeon, can be turned in by the hundreds to redeem rewards in the form of exotic armors, sigils, items, and weapons. I am going to look further into this as I study the dungeon system.
We also completed the Citadel of Flames story dungeon (level 70) which wasn't very hard. It had neat rewards, typical of story dungeons, like the little jolt of experience and the rare hat.
It was also pleasantly fun rather than monotonously grinding. I recommend this dungeon.
Just a quick pacov blahblahblah update - I'm about level 34 or 35 now. Been enjoying myself, but playing a little less frequently (but still a little each night). Looking forward to hitting level 40. Side note, I make ALOT of money with the trading post. ALWAYS check the post to sell crap before you sell to a vendor. We are talking a pretty big difference and you can make the money instantly if folks have ordered goods. I like the system... I LOVE that its been accessible at least the last 3 times I've played. Hopefully they have their trading post problems resolved. Anyway, for the guild stuff, I'm going to get the next architecture upgrade asap so we can expand the guild stash. Night all!
I just dropped 100 black lion chests into the guild stash. Feel free to use as many as you wish.
Farming level 80 zombies for 3 hours is extremely profitable... I made 5 gold off of that crap...
dax - u can now purchase guild upgrades.
