I assume that a lot of us will be playing Guild Wars 2, so I figured that I'd start a thread on it.
Prerelease is this Saturday. I personally am gone for the weekend, but plan on playing quite a bit on Monday (assuming they don't kill the servers prepping for release on Tuesday).
I guess that Vlad is playing on Tarnished Coast, so I'll probably go there as well. My understanding is that server transfers are very pain free though, so it might not be a big deal.
I'll also probably start with a Mesmer, if anybody cares.
My understanding from people who played in the beta is that its a really solid game, so I might be playing it a lot. I've been waiting for a non derivative, well executed MMORPG for a long time.
Ha, the PetterDumpTruckians noticed that as well! Though I think we had move trouble with the AoE arrow spam
I had to deal a rain of arrows last time I did PvP. Fighting in the shade sucks if you don't have a skill to deflect the arrows.
Seas of Sorrows is 4chan:

My understanding is that reddit is on Isle of Janthir.
Shiverpeaks seems to be a bunch of hardcore asian PvP guilds, plus a few hardcore US guilds that used to play MMORPGs like Shadowbane, so you know they are serious about PvP.
They just rotated the matchups today I believe, so we should be better here.
Good thing they rotated the brackets. Being up against the hardcore Asian PvP guys and 4chan was starting to suck.
k - so we have a few cool guild items being built right now. Another 1-2 days until they are completed. Check out the guild stat page in game for more info.
super lag tonight for me. Enough that I pissed off to play lol for a bit. Not happy about the lag. Was quite god awful for me.
I've started an elementalist. He's almost level 8 as of now. Hoping to level the crap out of him soon. Really want to get some level 30 characters asap.
me, my friend, and karl tried Ascalonian Catacombs, but we picked up some loser who decided to drop us all out...
It was also pretty clear that I needed to switch to a PvE build for dungeons. I was in what was basically a PvP build with lots of damage and CC, but chain CC just wasn't effective enough, so I'd probably go with a more damage soak build based on shouts.
We really need to get enough people to 30 so that we can have full parties of non randoms for dungeons.
HELP PACOV GRIND OUT LEVELS!
HELP SPARDASON21 GRIND OUT LEVELS TOO!
I have a 27 guardian, but it's so tempting to start new characters.
I have no temptations there
I have a level 62 Engineer now
ffs dax! Slow down, man!
44 Thief.
I might start a new Ranger, I told myself I wasnt gonna be one. Since that was my main in GW1. But the Im having a hard time resisting temptation.
As I play WvWvW more it doesnt help.
Yeah, started a ranger last night, in part to go through grabbing resources with going completely daft, and in part to train a class that can hold their own in WvWvW.
pacov had a ranger... started a new character after playing him in WvWvW. Have a level 20 elementalist now.
Elementalist is the best WvW class IMO
That's my take as well. Seems just way too powerful now. Heh... I'll get my guy leveled up and they'll nerf him to hell. That said, pretty sure they have more than a few bugs to work out as it is.
Alright folks, I've recruited a new member (Ninebears/Ankhtepot.5369). He seems decent, if perhaps a bit older. I was helping him with a skill challenge, got to talking, and he didn't run screaming in fear, nor did his head explode/melt/combust when I told him the "Good Word" about PeterDumpTruck. So hurrah!
Also, we need to get those membership ranks sorted!
In other news, I managed to get 100% completion on my first zone. The reward was decent; cash, xp, karma, as well as two green items, some transmutation stones, and 40 copper. Not terrible.
I got that for one zone... and I'm thrilled to say that another zone is bugged out so it is currently impossible to get 100% completion... buggy arse game.
Is there any EASY way to group up with folks? It seems really difficult to get folks together imo.
Here's the grouping issue as I see it:
You can form a party spread over any zones and any overflows (of which there are multiple). But in order to actually play together, you have to all be in the main zone. That's fair enough, I suppose. But there are some huge issues that are holding this system back.
First, queue times to get out of the overflow in busier areas are 20-30 minutes.
Second, every time you change zones, or use waypoints, you (if in the main zone) get shunted to an overflow, or (if you're in an overflow) you get shoved to the back of the queue.
Third, the "Join party member" option doesn't work. Nothing happens the first 3 or 4 times I click it. And if I click it after that, I get an error saying I have no internet connection.
So, to party effectively, we have to a), play less popular zones, b ) trudge around on foot (not use waypoints!), c) not change zones, and d) put up with a lot of shit.
Join party member works fine for me 90% of the time.
I haven't had it work once. It's a real pain.
I haven't had it work either. I'm sad that the launch is going this poorly. Oh well, more time to spend punching monsters in the face with my Monk in Diablo 3.
Well Carbon is done with GW2 for a bit.
The newness has worn off.
lvl 50 thief and all I do is die. Die some more. Die die die die die die.
Personal Story missions are total crap. Here fight 10000000000000000000000000 guys alone. K have fun.
WvWvW is retarded. We have the 1000000000000000000 arm chair generals. All we do is lose everything.
Dungons are another crap shit fest. Retarded bosses. NOT FUN AT ALL. Even crappier rewards.
