Hey all,
I just want to make certain the Stardock team hears and remembers a few comments that may be lost amidst the (well intentioned) slew of bug reports and feature requests which have followed Beta 4, some of which have gotten a bit over-the-top IMHO:
- we are all extremely grateful for your efforts to create what is shaping up to be a classic game, and perhaps a worthy successor to the record-holder, MoM
- a large part of this community (including myself) is having a great deal of fun with Beta 4
- Beta 4 is definately a major improvement over Beta 3, and it accurately reflects both your hard work and your attention to the forum suggestions
- most (not all, unfortunately) of our comments are generated out of our love of this game, and our desire to help you create a perfect game
In short, THANK YOU for perservering with this and WELL DONE for what you've accomplished so far !!!
PS - also it seems to me that many of the critical posts stem from the desire of some people to make the game easier / more predictable, so that it can be beaten after 5-10 hours of playing ... PLEASE DON'T GIVE IN TO THAT!!! There are many simpler games out there, there is always the option of cheating, and I for one LOVE games which are easy to play but VERY HARD to play WELL...
After coming here on a high from 20 odd hrs of the best Elemental yet, the forums are .. well .. depressing. Beginning to think that the first impressions survey is the big take-home gift to hold onto.
HEAR HEAR! +1
The beta forums are all about s telling the devs what is wrong with the game. That is inherently negative. Of course, if you look back at the beta 2 and beta 3 feedback threads, the difference is monumental. Even the harshest critics now have a list of things they love about the game. That is a huge improvement. If you look at all the quality polls from the beginning, wow. Things are looking great!
But if I haven't said so, thanks Stardock for making the best 4x game of all time. You guys are the best.
I think it's shaping up to be a worthy successor to MoM--and a great standalone game, on its own. The amount of work being put into it is obvious with each new beta iteration. Great going.
Thanks Stardock for coming up with something the karma of your company likes to do! Or in other words, "Good on you Stardock for learning the lessons of WoM and being in the process of creating a great game!"
I am very glad I preordered the game, though I wish to ask Stardock to go for the extra length of time necessary to make this game not just a good game, but a great game.
Thanks! We love you guys.
I'm thankful that we had the opportunity to work to make good on the dream of doing a fantasy strategy game. And we hope that you'll like Beta 5 as much as you like Beta 4 (Beta 5 will be all about fixing bugs, polish, and improving little usability things).
Frogboy this is great to hear! Now if you could only also add some tactical battle improvements such as flanking, that would be awesome...
Yeah, man. In three decades of adventure gaming, this is my favorite one. This one and Adventureland on the Vic 20. And Civ II. That one ate my life. Thanks for a monster of a game!
This will be a masterpiece of a game! I can't stop playing!
Stardock has done a great job with EFE. Thanks for all the hard work.
Good job. Love the game and all the hardwork into the game.
Even I as a nasty critic can start saying that all the hard work you've poured into this one is starting to pay off. Thanks for keeping on chuggin'!
I have to agree while it is a big milestone, there's still a ways to go. I will also admit FE feels like its shaping up to be an EPIC game. Absolutely. All this sandbox mode makes a person start to drool for campaigns, scenarios, map editors, mod tools...
