Hello People!
Well, i'm new around here and i would like to ask if there is any way to add new BUYABLE / SELLABLE goods in the game to make the trade system bigger and the economy much intense.
Thanks so much
Nachodsk.-
Yes. Open up PlanetaryImprovements.xml with an XML editor and clone one of the existing entries. Make sure to give it a unique identifier. You can also do this in the Improvement editor but unfortunately the unique identifier field does not function, which would cause the game to error when you build the trade good.
Wow, can't believe i found a community with such nice and kind people to help newbies like me
Thanks a bunch Marvin! and i can make unlimited items like this way? thanks a lot ! i really appreciate your help.
P.S: Btw.. do i have to add an icon for the stuff i want to sell or buy each time i create it? thanks marv!
Well an icon to tell it apart from the others would be nice but it's purely optional. You'll likely never see the icon during regular play, right?
I don't know if there's a limit on trade goods.

But to add new tradeable goods i MUST add stuff in the PlanetImprovements.XML or should i add them in ResourcesTypes.XML?
Thanks for your help, Marvin
Edit: I know Marv you told me to add it in the PlanetImprovements.XML but i think there are pure buildings and etc, but i want to add goods in the game (apart from buildings) hope you can understand me.
Trade Goods have to be built on a planet. All the existing trade goods are in that file, so you have to add them there.
Thank you SO MUCH for your help, Marv!
Btw curiousity.. what is the ResourceTypes.XML file for?
Thanks again, Marv!
It defines the resources which you can build mining bases on. Each resource corresponds to a particular ability or abilities (the Military resource contributes to both Weapons and Defence).
I don't remember if anyone else has tried modding it, but my guess is that without support in the game code, adding resources for abilities that aren't represented yet might not work anyway.
Once i add something to the game (this time i add a new factory in the PlanetImprovement) do i have to make particular Research to see if i added it correctly or it should show up in first part of the game?
Thanks!
Btw i've been reading about the LIMIT of credits is 20,000 is this real?
If you want a trade good or any improvement to show up when you've researched a particular tech, just look up the relevant tech tree (there are racial tech trees for TotA, which have extra techs in addition to the main TechTree.xml which they refer to) and find the InternalName of the tech. Then enter that as the RequiredTech for that improvement. If you wanted it to be available for a particular race only, you'd need to make sure it's a tech that only they get. Or if it's just to be available from the start, just enter None for RequiredTech.
There isn't a limit to the credits you can have in your treasury, but after building up a surplus of 10000bc your trade income is halved. After building up 20000bc, your economy suffers a slight penalty so your tax income may lessen. There may be greater penalties as you build up a more ridiculously-sized treasury. If you have something to throw the money at, be it rushing improvements or ships or ship upgrades, or even paying off leases early, then there is an incentive to keep spending it. If you're making a pile of money despite these penalties and you want to save up and upgrade all your ships of a particular class, then you can do that too.
Well, as i said.. THANKS!
If something else i need can i ask in this same thread or should i create a new one?
Thanks for all,
Greets.
