Seems this is an age old problem... I already have an elevated support ticket with SD. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and running WindowFX 5 which I just installed about an hour ago. Every time I have to reboot/shut down my pc explorer crashes with this error:
"The instruction at 0x69016fd0 referenced memory at 0x69016fd0. The memory could not be written."
Is anybody else experiencing anything like that?
Edit: My apologies, I'll post this in the feedback thread. Could a moderator please delete this thread? Thank you.
I just tried it with Fences Pro, since I didn't have it installed and it also requires a reg. #. I asssume it should work the same way as WFX install/registration.You can get the serial number from SDC now before you install, but once the registration window is open, asking for a number, it cannot be accessed.
Ok if folks remember to (or think of ) getting the serial # first. (leave me out of that group, I'm lucky to remember to put my socks on before my shoes some days)
Since most ODNT apps don't need a number to activate, it's not a big thing, just extra steps for the few programs that require it. If game registrations behave the same, it may be something to add to the "to-do" list for the next SDC update?
I meant te WFX serial number. The SDC copy/paste will be in a future update.
I'll let you know after the next WFX5 non-update.
Now you gotta admit, that was funny.
Where can I find version 5.1? All I see on my account is v5.0. I also checked download.com and it's also v5.0.
Log on to the store and download what is labeled as 5.00.001
The file you get will be File Version 5.1.0.0. That's what you are looking for.
Member since 2001, surely you are accustomed to SD's fabulous numbering system.
BTW, good seeing you in the forums.
Not so accustomed since I always used their delivery softwares which have been accurate in the majority of cases. But now you're remind me how old I am....
I'll give it a try. Thanks!
Ok so I downloaded WindowFX5-Setup.exe from my account. The details of the file says v5.1.0.0. When installed, wfx4.dll and wfx4_64.dll becomes dated June 18th. However, the software's EXE still reports itself as 5.0.0.3. In the WindowsFX control panel, it still shows v5.0. The two DLLs I mentioned still show v5.0 (5.0.1.0 to be precise) despite their newer creation date.
Stardock has got to get this straight. I'm not sure what I'm running anymore.
Uninstall everything. Install from either the store or SDC. No matter the file versions they are the mist current and will resolve all the reported issues.
The store or my own Stardock.com account still says v5.0. But if I download the file and look at the details, it says v5.1. That's even before doing any installation. So before I can even tell what I'm running, I don't know what I'm downloading...
And SDC reports nothing to update...
Zubaz, let me ask you. Where should I be seeing v5.1 mentioned to confirm a complete and successful update?
In any case, don't worry about the version numbers for this update.

I installed WinFX5 that shows up under my account (site says v5.0, but file details says v5.1) on a machine that never had WindowFX installed. I compared and can confirm that I am not missing any files. Somehow, it still says v5.0 instead of v5.1.
I already filed a support request last week about the explorer crash and received DLL updates that worked. This is not about that. It's more a confusion about what I am downloading and what I should be seeing to confirm a proper update. Right now it's very confusing. Is v5.1 the latest? If so, the version available for download doesn't say so.
I have the same problem, and in my account is the version 5.00.001, where can I find version 5.1?
your support please
This:
I must correct something. The update is not 5.1. It would have been called 5.01 if it were not for some technical reasons.
I installed the version 5.00.001 but does not correct the error!
"The instruction at 0x69016fd0 referenced memory at 0x69016fd0. The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate program."
You are the only person to report that the problem continued after the update.
Could you please contact support@stardock.com so they can obtain more details from you please.
EDIT: As your address seems to match the address reported originally and this address is likely to have changed slightly in the newer build anyway, it suggests your version did not get updated.
Where did you get the update from and did you reboot after installing?
from here, attached image
Thanks for your help.
I just installed WindowFX 4 to get around the 5
and yes I have submitted a ticket to stardock.
FX5 is rubbish.
What problem are you having With WindowFX 5?
The problem in this thread was resolved a long time ago.
V 5.15 as all prev. versions still crashes my explorer from time to time.
It happens when I drag&drop something no matter what and where...
