ok what am i going to do - the vasari patch is out and ive got a game to finish. I'm actually thinking of surrendering - im a little over 9 hours into the game now but i just cant advance - and ive been playing sins since the beginning , this is the first time ive had a game of rebellion thats stalemated and im wondering if there are any tactics for advent i might be unaware of they are my least played side and i just started a game last week while waiting for vasari
setting - easy to picture cause i made it in the ingame map creator
10 Players
each player started with the usual terran an astroid + volcanic or ice and i made sure it was even and all players got an ice, an asteroid & a dwarf planet as well.
map was set to phase lane legenth and liklehood high so each player has two ways into their starting "cluster"
So imagine a map with 10 clusers of planes all around the outide
5 astroid + 5 dwarf closer to the sun
closer in i swpaned 5 desert +- so all desert end up with two players battleing for it
further in 10 pirates (so yes each desert connected to two pirate)
further in close to the star a destert,2 volcanic 3 dwarf 4 astroid and 5 dead astroids
--- you dont have to read this part
best game ive played as advent ever in any of the sins - i started off by building colony capital ship first and then a second and was expanding fast in all directions took several dwarfs and astroids in enemy territory and then built two radiance battleships (both still allove and level 10's now) - Once titans got built it all changed i could not hold two fronts at the same time with only a loyalist tian level 5 (their titans 4 and 3) and my 6 caps 0- i lose both my colony caps and seveal outer systems and was pushed further back and i was gong to lose as a tec had used TAR and passed though the pirates and attacked my astroid and dwarf beside the desert - he only had 4 caps and no titan but i had pulled my fleet back to deal with the two advent - Losing on all fronts and with my titan on 18% hull i pulled my entire fleet back to my homeworld - i left the remaining 5 worlds to the AI to take and i dug in at my homrworld about 4 hours later (i spent all that time harassing the ai with my titan and 4 caps getting their XP up)i had managed to get a bit more research into fleet capacity so i built 3 more caps and then a few more (when you have no money you cant waste money on frigates because they get destroyed my caps dont)
--- you dont have to read this part (or any of my post really)
As it is now 9 players are still alive all AI are on hard and im bordering with 1 advent rebel and 1 advent loyalist
its a ffa with teams off - at this stage all players have level 9 or 10 titan
any attempt to advance on one ai results an attack by the other AI with its titan - i had the most success when i pushed back the AI attack and destroyed their titan - i sent my titan to my other border where a level 10 titan had just landed and i dispatched all 14 of my cap ships to attack the AI who had lost their titan but because of the map every single ai system is maxed out on tactical slots so i was forced to pull back after their titan showed up
i need my starbases on max health to help beat back the constant attacks so i cant put the culture thing on any of my sarbases except for 1 so with my 16 research structures i barely have any room for culture structures so i cant even try and attck enemy with that and im not not a big advent player - i find their titan is fantastic for taking enemy worlds just jump in take the world scrap it and jump out - again and again and again forcing your enemy to spend loadds upgrading the planet again
Im making 18 credits a second
because of a very clever move by a distant rebel advent he managed to land in one of my systems after he colinised a pirate that had been novalithed which means im now fighting on 3 fronts - 3 titans - i haven't lost any systems in over an hour - im dug in im and im building up money now - might only be making a little - have 12k now but just cant decide how best to spend/attack i an monitoring the map using the advent view system ability and i know that allot of the time my neighering AI players move their titans away from my borders do fight back attacks on their other fronts but any advance i dont have time to finish taking a system before the titan returns and normally since ive pulled forces away to launch the attack then get attacked at whatever system i pulled defenders away from
any suggestions or should i just update and go to my one true love - the vasari ? - the thing is i dont see myself getting this excited to play as advent again so i do want to quit it - oh ok now ive decided to go back to it .... em so this post was kinda pointless i think *sigh* ok im going to post it anyway since i typed it all up
wait ye - ok question for you all - have you come accross any stalemates - ive seen a few stalemates in AI vs AI combat with me as the observer but ive never in all the years of sins come up against a map/battle this hard
how much drone host do you have? You need s hit load, you can use them to harass by dropping edge of well killing of a cap and warping out.
Alto that probably won;t save you but it does clean up defenses fast.
Anyway, to answer your question: I have encountered a stalemate at this very point on the large 5vs5 map "Aurelian Sector" (which is by far my most favorite map by the way). Playing with ten Unfair Economist AI's (those seem to be the smartest at this point) it is hard to move from one conquered star system to another. I started this game a few days back and am playing as the Vasari Rebels (I modded the game because I didn't want to wait for beta 3 ). I try speeding things up by building Phase Stabilizers wherever they are useful, yet the AI keeps sending large fleets towards me whenever I move my main fleet out of one star system to another. Fortunately, me and my teammates are slowly gaining ground now... The fact that my Orkulus class starbases can jump between planets and stars helps making it easier to defend important worlds, while my Titan -supported by a massive fleet and six supportive capital ships- can wipe out a planet in a few minutes.
I have to say that the Advent are incredibly hard to defeat in Rebellion. At this point we took out most of the star systems between the main ones, where our home planets are located. I am eager to see how a well coordinated combined assault on one of the most heavily defended enemy planets is going to work out...
Yeez I got lost in my own story. Oh well, it is nice to know other people are enjoying Sins single player as much as I do still exist. Have some karma for that long post. You deserve it!
Thanks guys .... im still playing it - dying to play as vasari but i need to win this game. in the last 4or5 hours i finally managed to take out an ai by throwing my entire fleet at his - my own systems where devestated - lost my homeworld and everything else but the desert and an astroid, but i did take out 1 AI secured his systems - retook all that i lost .(except for one ice a AI is just refusing to give back to me)
Im still fending off constant titan attacks which means losing the same 2 outlining systems over and over and having to retake them over and over but my lines are finally established and im ready to start rebuild my fleet and the caps ive lost in that epic battle i still have to rebuild research stations logistics on all planets trade stations - you name it - i lost it. all i have is my crystal and metal mines 3 starbases (on my 3 most outer worlds) and 11 caps all level 10 and 1 titan - the fleet is split at two of the starbases -
question i have for you guys - the 3rd starbase is on its on - a distant asteroid bordering with one of the ai's whos attacked with a level 10 titan - but the ai has gone and glitched - the titan is stuck attacking my starbase which was built just inside the range of 6 repair bays - the weapons on my starbase are not upgraded only the health so the titan and my starbase and just sitting there both on 100% health firing at one another both being repaired - a human player would move their titan to destroy the repair bays
...
ok now its been 20 mins ive got a good bit rebuilt but what i want to ask is if i win the game because of AI not doing the logical thing is it really a victory?
i dont have to keep any ships in that astroid where if the ai had of been smart enough to attack the reapair bays first i would have had to call back my level 10 titan from the new front id opened up by taking over the other AI's systems - im so torn here - i really want to play beta 3 and i dont know if its a real win because i took advantage of the AI's
oh and for this post i just saved and quit to see the time - 23 hours in
It is not taking advantage. It is anticipating a lack of AI response and capitalizing on such. (If you're a hippy and don't like capitalism, just quit now). How many frigates are they sending at you? How many heavy cruisers? What sort of caps are they assaulting you with?
I would suggest that you focus on destroying an AI's titan (whichever is most annoying and high level). Just lure it toward your side of a gravity well and then focus all firepower on it. Control all the enemy frigates by lining up massive mobs and cleanse them with the brilliance of the advent. Focus all other firepower on the titan and do not stop for anything.
Once you can destroy their high level titan you need to send in a couple of radiance battleships to destroy their titan factory. (immediately). This is usually a suicide mission but it is absolutely necessary to stop their production of titans. Just fly right past any and all defenses and destroy the titan factory by any means possible. While all that is happening you need to make a massivley dense minefield near the other AI and lure their fleet over it. This will hopefully destroy the majority of their fleet. Ignore the AI with the broken fleet and assault the AI without a Titan with everything you have. Wipe him out. Mercilessly. You need to do this before he gets another titan. Just leave enough forces behind to fend off the other AI's titan. (Ignore the broken titan the whole time. There's no way for you to win a three front war.)
Once you crush the AI expand from there.
The only way you are going to be able to end this within a reasonable amount of time is to "take advantage of the AI"
This is your problem here. Granted I always play on fast/faster, but I usually make at minimum 40 credits per seconds, usually 50-60 after the first hour, and try to maintain that as I up my fleet research. Your economy should certainly be a lot better after 9 hours.
