What television series would you recommend to someone to start from scratch?
For instance, I’ve never watched Lost but I don’t think I could handle 7+ years or whatever it was of shows mainly because I heard the show ended up like X-Files where the creators were kind of winging it.
Any suggestions?
Doctor... who?
Folks mentioned some shows on Fx like Sons of Anarchy, so I'll throw Justified out there.
Rule number one of watching Doctor Who:
Don't ask what his name is.
WebGizmo that ending was so terrible! In the finale when the villain was backed into a corner, she should have chosen to prematurely age herself, claim another credible identity like her own mother, and when the hero demands fingerprints show the police they've been aged away.
Edit: Because there is a warrant out for her arrest >>> some prisons are without bars.
The name is obviously... Tom Baker... the only real Dr.
I try....
I try harder
I always thought Face was a remarkably charming fella
Hell on Wheels.
Can't believe it took 59 replies to show up. Season 1 was awesome. Great cast, well-written, quirky.
Picked up for season 2, not sure when 1st episode airs.
& for starkers
In that case how bout the 6 million dollar man or buck rogers
I have to agree with the people on here who say the recent BBC version of Sherlock to one of the best. I like how they have adapted the awesome books in a sexy modern take on the books. I mean in the first episode of series two, the scene with Irene Adler is just genius, what better to combat Holmes attention to detail to appeal to his other senses.
the original series of holmes was pretty good as well even when it was on the radio
The NBA playoffs because The Walking Dead and the NFL season don't continue until fall. In between we have DVD's of La Femme Nikita (The Peta Wilson Nikita). TMC also has some good movies to watch.
Also looking forward to when Hell on Wheels returns.
My Last comment to what show to watch is a good ol' brit comedy & in the voice of Kriton *drum roll* smeeee....smeeeee.......smeeeeee...smeeeee....smeg Heads believe it or not that's actually funny...mmmm tough crowd, alright i'll make it easy for ya it's Red Dwarf & not the USA version like i said
The Benny Hill Show < The only British TV show that was worth watching
In Living Color
Dick Emery was a lot funnier... do a search on You Tube and you'll see what I mean
will have to do that never hard of him
While he could pull off the innuendo style like Benny Hill, Dick Emery was more intellectual and a master of disguises... yup. he could successfully portray numerous characters with ease.
Oh yeah, a couple more to consider...
Person of Interest... a geeky style mystery/thriller
Revenge... the title speaks for itself... karma, a what goes around comes around thriller.
A lot of great suggestions here. I would second any Community recommendations. Don't be put off by some of the lesser first Season eps as when the show hits its' stride, it is one of the most creative and rewarding shows out there today. The newest episode was Law and Order themed and executed brilliantly.
I would also strongly recommend Homeland (91% on Metacritic). A first-rate and fresh look at terrorism and a stellar cast: Damian Lewis, Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin.
Also for something completely different, watch Adventure Time! It's an animated show that should appeal to anyone who knows what a 20 sided die is.
The Walking Dead is excellent. So is that new Sherlock Holmes.
24
Walker Texas Ranger
Knight Rider
Just thought I'd suggest some of my favorite series'. We're currently making our way through 24.
I recently started watching Better Off Ted on Netflix....good way to give your mind a rest.
Coming from someone who doesn't like to invest a ton of time in TV...
My wife will watch much more than I do, and she knows if it's something I may have an interest in. I've abandoned more series than I care to count after one episode, because I can't sit through it if my mind goes somewhere else.
Anyway, top 4 in this order:
The Wire
Breaking Bad
Arrested Development
Deadwood
I'll throw in an honorable mention for the recent Sherlock Holmes series done by the BBC starring Benedict Cumberbatch, these are really well done.
I finished my "24" marathon last year (BSG as well).
This Year it's Star Trek. I'm watching it in reverse order for some reason (ENT,VOY,DS9,TNG,TOS)
