My understanding of the Advent Rebel ability, Wail of the Sacrificed, is that it does 20 damage for every point of population to all adjacent gravity wells. So, if a planet with a population of 180 is sacrificed (like an ice) it would do 3600 points of damage to all ships and structures in adjacent wells. That's worse than a missile barrage that affects the entire gravity well.
Is this ability overpowered? Should researching it be a Level 8 ability and should there perhaps be a monetary/resource cost to using it as it stands now?
It was good when it worked on capital planets as you could go deep into enemy territory and rip out their proverbial heart, culture protection be damned.
But yeah, the removal of the ability to use it on capital planets put a bit of a damper on it. That said, It's still an ability that pretty much instantly causes the opponent to lose control of their world(think of it as instant planet destruction & granting the ability to colonize regardless of enemy culture).
It could use a bit of a buff after losing the ability to take capital planets IMO though. But straight up keeping all planetary improvements may be a bit much- I'd be thrilled with it just keeping emergency facilities upgrades & current planet HP so that it doesn't just get bombarded dead the moment you steal it if there is still a hostile fleet presence.
hmm.... can you repossess a neutral world? doesn't seem like the 're' part is working full time, but as I just mentioned in another thread, I have my loyalist titan out somewhere razing planets and I don't have colony ships... would be useful if I can get it leveled.
On another note, how bout stealing some percentage of the population? no other upgrades (I actually think that would be difficult to design).
All of those things could involve major reworks of the engine, but at the least some planetary buffs like a big one to population growth or upgrade cost/times would be nice. Say 100% faster population growth, and 50% cheaper and faster upgrades.
Nope. Blew up a moon ( it was the only adjacent planet besides an asteroid) and sent in a maxed fleet in right after, I was confronted by something like 500 full health pirates @_@
Maybe the moon didn't have enough population? I think it would've only done like 600 points of damage
Yeah, moons won't do much. Also I'm not sure of this, but does wail only work if the ships are orbiting a hostile planet?
Just tried it out, I blew up an enemy seeker vessel that was in one of my planets. That was totally worth the entire population of my moon =]
Edit: lol, must have missed page 5 of this thread .
