Zombie's List of mods good enough to EAT!!!
Still not quite finished with my thoughts (hard as they are for a zombie to form). List is no particular oder other than Released and Coming Soon(ish).
Released
7DS is one of the original mods for Sins of a Solar Empire. At one time it was the most popular mod downloaded for the game.
7DS also includes a lot of of the original sins mods as well as many new enhancements over the last couple of years including all new custom HUD displays by Rick Hughes.
Currently in Beta 6, downloads can be found by following the instructions on the Sins forum topic.
Distant Stars is likely one of the most widely played mods for Sins of a Solar Empire currently.
Enhancements include: Sound replacements for music and effects, new electronic warfare and gunship strikecraft, game optimizations, skyboxes, double research, planetary defenses, pirate enhancements, and rebalanced capital ships.
DS also includes several popular "original" enhancement mods: Celestial Bodies, Bailknight's Graphic Mod, Sins Plus, Volumetric Explosions, Multiple Stars and Gurkoz Sins Sounds.
One of the best things about Distant Stars is the almost daily support given by it's members.
Stargate Invasion is a total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire. The mod will be built in 2 halves. The first is the Pegasus side, I.E. Humans, Wraith and Asurans, with the Pirates being a classified race at the moment. The second part of the mod, will add in the Asgard and Goa'uld races to the mix.
Holy shit!!! why so many goddam folders!!!
Really this is my mod so it's hard to write something serious. The first part of this mod comes from my general fascination with the supernatural while the second comes from my interest in transhumanism and associated works.
Add in the colonials and cylons and you round out my scifi interests.
Sure it's a lot of folders, but the levels of combinations and changes in scenarios are un-rivaled by any other mod.
Special thanks to everyone past and present who worked on mods for SoaSE.
Also, this isn't intended to be a complete list of all mods, but more of a nice review of mods I think are complete or have had or will have a significant impact on the Sins gaming community. These are soft reviews too, so don't expect anything negative.
Most of my posts enjoy a necro every now and then
How do you eat a mod, anyways? Would you just eat the hard drive? That doesn't sound very satisfying. There's not nearly as much protein in a hard drive as there is an intern. As long as the intern is fresh, anyways. Stale interns, or spoiled as little Billy calls them, are not very pleasant to eat. In fact, little Billy often gets very angry when you try to feed him spoiled interns. By the way, in the office every intern is called Tony. Tonys are often branded by numbers instead of names, because it's easier for our Western outsourcees to understand numbers rather than complex things like "tony with buckteeth" or "partly digested tony". Simplicity is key, and in our closet-infested edge-rounded office, you really need to avoid any more confusion than what already plagues us. It's amazing we get anything done in the first place.
Also, there's a certain benefit to being able to brand all curses with "tony" appended or prefixed to them. Because names are desensitized through numbers, any accurate curse involving tony, like "Damnit, Tony!" or, my favorite, "Blast processing, Tony!" is always accurate and doesn't need any silly and/or embarrassing backpedalling due to the confusion of names. I also don't think that the average intern is any different than a zombie. They both lack real individuality but hunger for living meat, and they are both easily disposed of in an incinerator.
I'm still trying to wonder where the eating of digital information comes into all this, though. I've spent an eternity pondering this question.
Some Shameless SOA2 marketing and re-animating dead flesh
Put those icons on http://www.moddb.com/company/soase-m0dders/images

Had a chance to try out Seleuceia's Unofficial Gfx Patch. I have to say it's a nice addition to Forbidden World's adding consistent Galaxy map icons for planets and of course fixing the planet bonus icons (Ever notice they are all pretty much the cavern icon? ). With no game changing elements this is a good mod for people that like the vanilla gameplay.
P.S. Need an icon or it's not a real mod
And hopefully we can get Distant Stars up and running.
Probably should also put SW: Ascendancy up there as well.
I'm done reviewing mods that might happen. If they want to give me a sneak peek at their mod I would.
I'm probably going to remove man shooters mod too.
ascendancy is in public beta you may want to put it up now
There is no download on their moddb page. In my opinion having to PM the devs or post in a thread or something doesn't quite count as public.
