Some of them sound like whiney 10 year olds who were told "YOU CAN'T HAVE ICE CREAM," or worse---they sound bitter and angry because they went with the man in the ice cream truck.
To be frank, when I was poking around in the sound files before the Advent were released I found that the corvettes were too loud and high pitched for my taste (the Advent ones.). I did later figure out how to make it much more quiet, but when I started to play as the Advent, I found their volume to be much more acceptable. It also did not help that I had, and still have, no clue as to how to make a mod that I can enable or disable without actually altering the sound files.
I am not sure what to say. I am happy that someone knows and plays Dungeons of Dredmor, let alone knows where my picture is from. I am also sad that you are in the process of a genocide of my kind... Then again, I am guilty of the same act. Please do not rat me out!
I just meant in Rebellion so far they are much weaker than the TEC factions. Im hoping this is fixed since they certainly weren't weak in diplo
I think my favorite is the victory message "The Unity is victorious!" that loops forever. The first time I heard it I had a WTF reaction, but now it makes me burst out laughing every time.
It's building finished line is quite chuckle worthy too, "Expand and Exterminate!"
But yes, the Advent corevette and Discord lines aren't too good. They sound too "sharp" compared to the old ones. I like Radiance and Halcyon voice most of the old ones, so maybe tweak them to be more like that. "Soft".
Still, not as stupid as the Desolator's lines. ...Which makes me fear what the new Vasari lines might sound like
As with many RTS games, because you are doing actions over and over, sound files will begin to sound annoying. Unless they include like 1000 variants of each voice action. You are going to find every sound annoying.
I just wish that they'd use voices that are at least believable as military. I like how 7DS kept the same voices, but changed it so it sounded like they were talking over a radio. (I also love the TEC/TCA voices they added)
I do hope that there will be a mod for the voices for the TEC and Advent. Maybe take a few voices from Starcraft or something.
However, I must say that I love the VO for the Vasari. They've got the best by far, on all counts.
