Just a head's up, Beta 3 is scheduled for April 12th.
The Beta 3 series of Fallen Enchantress will be revolving around faction differentiation. It also contains a lot of tweaks and balance based on player feedback.
April 12 can't come fast enough!
Shoot! That means that effectively, in my scheduling, I need to advance "Tax Day" to happen about a week earlier...
Legend of Grimrock. It also has a NO automap option I hear it's more of a Dungeon Master clone, actually, but I've never played that one
I think they were talking about this game
Legend of Grimrock
Looks very interesting.
Eye of the Beholder was actually a mostly-clone of an older classic title, originally for the Amiga, called Dungeon Master. The new game that is coming out is called Legend of Grimrock.
Can't wait to play Legend of Grimrock:

FE Beta 3 must be releasing that day to celebrate!
Grimrock doesn't do much for me by the looks of it. Main features to stop my purchase are:
FE Beta3 FTW!
It's not dungeon keeper, it's dungeon master. And it very much reminds me of those types of games.
Very different to Dungeon keeper.
It does have a map editor of sorts, IIRC a map can easily be created in notepad!
These sorts of games rarely come with random dungeons (Hack! by TSR being the only one I can think of that did). Also they are rarely turn-based, are you sure you are thinking of the right style of game? It is Tile based however the same as the old school games.
In fact old School is on a bit of a revial, what with Wasteland 2 being made, and with the original team that created it (and fallout 1, fallout 2, Baldur's Gate etc.) In fact this Wasteland project is probably the most excited I have been about an upcoming game ever. The dream team of RPG's coming back together to make an old school game that doesn't give a shit about how 'new gamers or console players' feel about the game. take this quote from an interview for example:-
MF: There seem to be two halves of the gaming universe. Old guys like me who grew up on Fallout. I remember pouring over decisions and redoing combat, just because an NPC died. I loved that dog too much to let him go. The other half, though, are much younger. Their first introduction to the universe was Fallout 3 and New Vegas. How are they going to be able to relate to this game having no real frame of reference for these classic, wonderful RPGs?BF: The thing about this project being fan-funded is that I’m not worried about this new group of people and how they might get it. This is being made for people like yourself that grew up playing Wasteland, Fallout and Fallout 2. These new people, who have never played these games, I think they’re going to check it out and have a great time. I’m simply not going to worry about how I get these console guys to come over and like it, because there is no reason to. We all know the experience that we grew up with. We all loved it and we’ve all been wanting one, so that’s what I’m going to bring. It’s not a putdown on the console product, it’s just that I’m not going to worry about how to get them. That was a bit of a tangent, but I get excited about old school RPG's
EoB was my first RPG, if you'd call it that.
As limited as the technology was at the time, wandering through its dungeons really gave me the shivers. The immersion was amazing, as without automap you really had to imagine yourself there in order to find your way through the corridors. Yes, I actually believe that even a simple "missing" feature like that made a lot of difference compared to nowadays' games. I truly hope this new title can capture a fraction of that brilliance
I played all the old style dungeon crawlers and I think they are great. I use to make maps taking weeks to play through a game because I had to make sure I had every square inche of the place mapped.
It might not be a game for everybody but man at the price of 12$ and the graphic that you get I saw a few game play on Tube and it's way worth 12$.
Try and get any new game for that price now days... and for the map editor the makers promise one after the game comes out. This game really makes me think of Stonekeep... I think it was one of the last great games of the same genre that came out.
Next wednesday will be a sick day for me at work...
I know we shouldn't be talking about another game on this forum, but I just had to reply regarding the replayability aspect of the Legend of Grimrock
Just to let you know they are starting to work on a map editor for the game and will be releasing additional dungeons as well. So you can play fan made dungeons and buy official expansions later on. What this means is that the game will have a ton of replay to it
PS> I have already pre-ordered the game and will have a hard time choosing which game to play come tuesday when Beta 3 is released.
I hate random dungeons, I am totalling getting Grimrock. Eye of the Beholder and Dungeon Master II were awesome games among my favorite of all time. Dungeon Master II didn't let you make your own characters, but had some awesome ones like Uggo the mad.
Well it's coming out today.
Legend of Grimrock...
Told my three kids to consider me dead for the evening tonight LOL
I'm ordering pizza and then leave me alone with my new game.... hehe
Yay Grimrock is out now, at least now I have something to keep me busy while we wait for FE Beta 3
Can't wait to get out of work.. 30 minutes to go
Its a great fun for now (2h playtime) and i´m already stuck at 2nd floor. Can´t pass these teleporter and can´t find the 2nd key for that door. Damn it!

It's going to be tight.
Too bad I won't buy Legends of Grimrock on principle. On the principle that the spiders are too scary.
Is it the exact same game as the original?
I saw TotalBiscuit's video on Grimrock and bought the game.
Ignore what I said in post number 32 please.
Now you guys at Stardock had better get into gear. It's already nearly lunch time on the 12th here in Australia and I can't wait.
