OK, the dev's said there will be a clues in Rebellion as to what is chasing the Vasari and apparently it's not Sam Neil returning in a ship that vanished into a black hole for fifty years.
They also suggested that they thought it was possible some might get it rather quickly.
To this end, I posit my guess.
I kept noticing in the varying screen shots the new Vasari ships. We know the Vasari are quite happy to have institutionalized slavery and to force it on advanced but less powerful empires.
There's one theme in all the ships I saw..."Bugs Mr. Rico...zillions of 'em!".
I suggest the Vasari "assimilated" a space-faring insect species and experimented on them to gain their weapons and travel capabilities.
Ever poke a stick into a wasp hive? I did once. There was a wee hole in the ground about three inches deep with a single yellow jacket in the bottom of it. I killed it with a stick and then discovered that it was the entrance to a hive.
Ever see the cartoons where the moving swarm comes out after the cartoon character? That's what happened. A massive "nanite" cloud of angry wasps came out and chased my brother and I to the back door of my grandmother's house. She wouldn't open it because they were bouncing off the screen like machine gun bullets. We ran to the front door on the other side of the house and when she got there, she couldn't open it either as they had followed us around.
Finally my aunt let us in and threw wet blankets over us and brushed us off with brooms. I had been stung 32 times and had wasps in my nostrils, the corner of my eyes, between all of my fingers and dozens embedded by stingers in my belt, shoes and jeans. The city sent an extermination crew out the next day and after gassing the hive dug it open. It was 4 feet deep, 15 feet wide and 32 feet long.
I believe the Vasari poked a stick into a hive and now the swarm is after them.
If I am vetted officially at some point as being correct, I prefer to be thereafter referred to by name with the honorific, "Most Mighty and Wise" prefacing it.
Thank you.

Not relating to the story, but just throwing out ideas based on what i have read on this forum.
Perhaps they are running from the following:
Something like the game Conquest, Mantis. Insects that are more powerful then advent a terms of fighters and bombers.
Titan air craft carrier with like 500 fighters and bombers.
Or mobile mother ship like the one in Homeworld games (like a starbase but more mobile). Able to produce anything from fighters to capital ships. Salvage or take over enemy ships. Able to salvage remains from a battle field. Able to devour resources from the planet in their vicinity. Upgradeable to take resources from next nearby planet. Similar to TEC capital ship ability, Embargo, that can steal resources from a enemy planet they are near. A mobile titan that is self sufficient and hurts enemy economy is nasty.
Or perhaps an AI infection like Cataclysm. That AI infection that can take over anything and everything, including a crew, would send me running.
In homeworld, the advanced race, Bentusi, was deathly afraid of them.
I guess this is more based on ideas I would like to see >.> lol
Its obviously a super duper titan. A titan with all the shield and hull/armor strength of all the fully leveled titans put together, which has only phase missiles with a 100% chance to bypass shields for its anti frigate/cap ship weaponry, in addition to this, it also has flak guns with a small AoE, and with as much damage per shot as the Ragnarov's Rail Gun.
Its first ability is NanoSubjugationScattering SnipeBurst, which is a combination of Nano Leech, the Coronata's Subjugating Assault ability, with the damage of level 4 Chastic Burst, as well as shooting a version of Scattershot in which all of the projectiles are the Ragnarov's Snipe ability (it retains the armor reduction). Ships that are hit by this are randomly converted, those that are not are destroyed (provided they have taken sufficient damage), and a portion of damaged/ destroyed ships' health is returned to the Super Duper Titan.
Its second ability is Deploy Orkulus Starbase, which deploys an Orky with ALL the upgrades at max rank, which can also phase jump, this can be used every 2 minutes. (this is considered to be its most OP ability)
Its third ability is a passive called FuriouslyDesperateDebrisVortex of Repossession, which is an AoE version of Furious Defense combined with Desperation, which also instantly converts any planet it enters the gravity well of, as well as sucking in debris from its scores of kills to heal itself.
Its ultimate ability is The Unyielding Maw of Overcharging Impairment, which combines the effects of the new Unyielding Will (1.04), the Maw, a version of Overcharge which increases its ability damage by 1000%, and the effects of Inspire and Impair.
It was long ago sealed away in Phase Space near the galactic core by an ancient Space Pony race and completely drained of its antimatter (which it has 9999 of), however the combination of Phase Jump Inhibition technology with Phase Stabilizer Nodes at a Vasari transport lab opened a rift in Phase Space which caused it to be released from its prison. Upon re-entering normal space, it was now free of the passive regeneration deactivation effects of Phase Space, and soon regained its antimatter, and began conquering Vasari worlds one by one. When the Dark Fleet was finally sent to confront this unknown menace, it was met with a veritable armada of Orkulus Starbases (crewed by mind controlled cloned space ponies, which it has a facility for creating on board itself), led by this Super Duper Titan. The Vasari were confused for a few seconds by the presence of their own starbases in the gravity well, and did not immediately engage the enemy fleet. The Super Duper Titan's forces did not have this problem, and all of the Orkies opened fire at once, destroying dozens of Vasari Capital Ships with their first salvo. The Vasari realized these were not friendly after this, and rallied, returning fire in expert fashion, vaporizing many Orkies with their first, massive salvo. After an unimaginably massive and bloody battle, the Dark Fleet, despite destroying a large portion of the Orkulus Rex Armada, was utterly annihilated, only one massively damaged Jarrasul Evacuator remained. In desperation, they fired a Gravity Warhead at the Super Duper titan. Having been drained of all of its antimatter during the battle, it was not able to destroy this ship, and due to pathfinding issues and lag resulting from the massive fleet of remaining Orkulus Starbases, it could not catch up to it before it phase jumped away.
The crew, having been driven mad by rage at the devs for allowing such an enormously OP force to exist, was replaced with the citizens of a Vasari colony, and the rest we know. They fled, and the Super Duper Titan has been following ever since, destroying warning beacons, but always staying a good distance behind due to pathfinding issues, as well as attacking every fcking trade drone it sees.
The entire "What's chasing the Vasari" thing was a cruel joke and there is nothing.
The Devs don't want you to realize what they created many years ago, the Super Duper Titan. However, out of remorse and a subconscious urge to come clean, they have inserted hints both into the game and its code. I bet you there are false typos in the code which consist of the letters S, D, and T in there somewhere. Super Duper Titan. The Space Ponies! achievement was placed there by them to memorialize the space ponies who were deleted to defeat the SDT. For years they have been slowly inserting various features that are a part of the SDT into the game, from the Orkulus Starbases in Entrenchment, to the Titans and phase jumping Orkies of Rebellion. The abilities it had were broken down into less powerful versions, and given to the Titans. You see, the Devs originally intended the SDT as a far more intelligent neutral race that would end indecisive games before they dragged on for hours, or to offer the ultimate challenge to the most skilled of their players. However, they accidentally granted it self awareness, and it used its immense power to begin destroying everything the devs had created. Locking out their ability to delete its code with its newfound intelligence, the devs were forced to attempt to defeat it ingame, something they had intended to be impossible.
The Devs managed to contain the SDT between star systems with the aid of the Space Ponies they had created, using a massive array of Phase Jump Inhibitors that have a version of the bidirectional inhibition upgrade that stacks, trapped it between systems, constructing enough PJIs to cause it to take 10 billion years to reach the next system effectively trapping it for all eternity, but before this, it deleted almost all of their code, nearly exterminating the Space Ponies completely.
Finally able to develop their game in peace again, the Devs created the Vasari, and intended them to be the antagonists in the next version of Sins. However, in a pre-alpha game, a newly hired dev foolishly decided to see what would happen if he combined the code of a Phase Jump Inhibitor and a Phase Stabilizer Node. Attaching this to a transport lab structure, he tested this out at the system's star, so it would not take up any tactical slots that others might wish to use. However, this created an error which created a null region in phase space, exposing the vast amount of Phase Jump Inhibitors placed there. Not knowing their purpose, he deleted them, believing some idiot had put them there to cause lag for a long finished structure stress test and forgotten about them. However, this allowed the Super Duper Titan to escape, though it took some time. As such, the devs were completely unaware anything had happened until it was too late. Once the devs realized something was going on, the senior devs noticed that this mysterious force was behaving the exact same way they had originally intended the Super Duper Titan to work. Alarmed, they sent the entirety of their massive stress testing fleet to attempt to destroy the Super Duper Titan. As we know, they failed, and the Super Duper Titan is now attempting to reach the playable regions of the game while exterminating the Vasari the devs had created in an act of revenge for sealing it away. (This is where the inspiration for the Advent comes from) Eventually it will succeed, and we will be forced to confront it in the next expansion for Sins, in an attempt to destroy it once and for all.
In this expansion, we will need 6 players, each playing a different faction, to work together. They will have to get all their Titans to level 10, then in a Captain Planet/ Power Rangers esque sequence, combine their powers together to form one Ultra powerful Titan, the only thing capable of standing against the Super Duper Titan. Combined with a massive fleet of ships, they will have to work together to confront the Orky Armada and the SDT in one massive final battle, the likes of which legendary Youtube videos are made.
again, more reasons this game has died and it's soul eaten by some asshole chaos god from WH40K
What you talkin bout Willis?
I'd say its either the 'Nids or the Necrons... with either one....resistance is useless....
StarClad is getting sued over the use of a single word... how the hell are they going to pull off using something that's not their intellectual property?
They saw this....
T-t-t-t-t-triiipleeee possttt! So, did I derail this thread, or was that Boddski? Or is it that nobody gives a crap anymore and we're waiting for the next OMG GUYS THE VASARI CHASER THINGS thread to pop up?
We are waiting until someone actually finds these "hidden clues" that are supposed to be present somewhere inside the code...
I heard there was a Linux logo somewhere in the game ... maybe they're running away from that.
I think that I'm allowed to derail this thread since no one has actually found the stuff yet.
^ unbelievable not this one, not the horses again
They've found Hyperion and manage to release the Shrike from the Time Tombs.
u did it again
Don't fudge about with bronies. I'm a close personal friend of Commissar Fuklaw and the Angry Marines.
I've been hoping for a Machine race to enter the fray. It's a missing aesthetic in terms of factions in the game, so I think it would fit. The Vasari have always reminded me of bugs so I wouldn't want a Zerg faction to be created, plus it would make diplomacy with them really awkward, or the fact that there would ideally be at least two factions of them. Assuming Ironclad/Stardock keep in tradition with what they've been doing so far.
Speaking of factions, I'm hoping that the Loyalist/Rebel dynamic gets fleshed out a bit when Sins 2 is released. Instead of straight rebellion, there should be two or more distinct political groups guiding the species against each other. Calling the genocidal Vasari "Loyalists" just doesn't fit well imo.
