Hey everyone!
We are now ready to have everyone use the new Stardock Central! Please note that this software is currently in Beta and may contain bugs or performance issues.
What does the new Stardock Central do? It lets you download and install any Stardock software you've purchased. It notifies you of updates to the software you have it installed. It also downloads the installers to your computer so that you will always have a backup of our software in the future.
You can download it by going to this page and clicking on Download: https://www.stardock.com/stardockcentral/
Note that the new Stardock Central can update itself. This means that when I push a new version of Stardock Central live, it will automatically update itself the next time it runs. There's no need to come back here to re-download future updates!
Please post any issues you have in the Stardock Central Support forum. I'll be checking it daily for any issues.

Yes, a change log on what changes , improvements, and fixes were made. I enjoy following the evolution of software; fixes made, (hopefully one I have been experiencing myself), new stuff to look for, or whatever. I have been fighting a problem with WindowBlinds that is weird. I assume I am not the only one experiencing it, so I like to see what bugs are squashed.
Example: When I have the "Explorer Background" in your program set to something other than default white, I see the "Desktop Background" coming through some of the text in Windows Explorer". In specific, "content mode" shows the background on title text. Also after selecting a name to edit under an icon, the highlighted text shows the Desktop Background where the text is. If the text is over something dark, it's OK, but if the text is over something white or light blue, I have a hard time reading the text.
I have spent many hours trying to isolate this one with no success, and I enjoy having transparency and textures running on Windows Explorer Backgrounds.
Suggestion: SDC links to the store, would it be possible to have a link to download SDC in the store on our account page? I needed to install it on my new-ish back-up PC and had to go hunting for a dl link. (thanks to my Mom for buying a laptop, I get a 1 year old PC for just a summers worth of yardwork.)
Giving Fences a go on it. Great program.
I imagine, once it's no longer a beta, this will be more likely to be implemented. Right now, we only want folk who understand it's a beta and seek it out specifically so that we can maximize good feedback while minimizing issues for folks that don't know what they're getting into.
For now, here's a link if you need it later: https://www.stardock.com/stardockcentral/
OK...downloaded and installed the beta. The only thing showing up in sdc now under "available updates" is Objectdock 2 and under "new software" there is nothing? Kinda bummed out here since I just installed all this stuff to install sdc and reinstall.
What is showing in installed apps?
Where would I even see that? All I see are "available updates" & "new software." And nothing is listed under "new software."
I should also add that none of my software is listed in the stardock store with the exception of CursorXp...Objectdock & Objectdock2.
This is what I see.
Yeah...nothing there except OdPlus2.
Has your ODNT sub run out, by any chance?
Giz, your sub expired months ago. Unless you use a different email that I don't know about.
Yeah...so...does that mean I can't reinstall my stuff? I only need the stuff up to the point my sub ran out. I just want to reinstall what I had on here at 8:PM tonight which was uninstalled to install this sdc. If I had known it was going to cause these problems I would have just left it alone.
Standard speech begins . . ..
ODNT is a subscription. Sort of like a magazine subscription. While subscribed, you get stuff. After the sub is over, you don't.
If you back up the software, it's yours forever (like if ypu put the magazine in a bo in you basement ).
If you throw away that back-up though, you cannot go to the publisher and expext that they will send you alll the back issues.
Then imagine if you will, that some one went into the basement and changed the language of all your magazines to something that is unusable to you. You have your archives but they no longer serve the intended purpose and just occupy space. The only option then is to pay the publisher again, just to get your old issues back,if they are even still available.
Impulse archives won't work, more or less forcing subscribers to renew at least one more time "Post Impulse" to get another set of working back-ups. I won't say this tactic was done on purpose, but I will say it doesn't seem like a fair way to treat loyal customers.
You may flame when ready.
If someone has the Impulse backups and they don't work, they should contact support to see if anything can be done. Stardock isn't full of assholes tryong to screw people over, right?
A reasonable response Mr. Zu. As much as I liked Impulse, it's coming and subsequent going sure left a LOT of confusion in it's wake. I already dumped my Impulse stuff, and since I plan on being a ODNT subscriber far into the future, I hope this current (SDC) solution sticks around much, much, longer.
I did this and was told nothing could be done. Just saying. I contacted support about my attempt to restore my Impulse archive of DesktopX 3.5 Pro and was told I couldn't and I might mention I still don't have a working version of that software and that was months ago.
Seriously, the Impulse sale really did screw some things up for the end users. Archive wise, at the very least.
I must say I like the auto archiving style of SDC...it rocks!!!!
DesktopX is a separate issue in and of itself. And like I said, we would do what we can . . .but there are things we can't do too.
Ok...so who do I have to contact at support to get this stuff back. I Just can't afford to resubscribe to ODNT right now just to get back what was already paid for...to many other issues to deal with.
And had I know this would have screwed up all my apps I wouldn't have done this. It should be made crystal clear to anyone that paid for these apps and had them for all these some 8 years now that they would totally loose them if they followed these instructions to ditch Impulse and install SDC. And backups only work as long as the installer does...which it clearly does not.
I tried reinstalling everything back...which reasonably should have worked...but I was informed my registration was no longer valid...which for future stuff I completely understand...but it should not be happening for stuff I already paid for and resubscribed for over and over again. As much as I love these apps I've never had this problem with anything else. Stand alone installers work so much better for a customer. I have stuff I bought years ago that won't disappear unless I lose them or throw them away and I can easily reinstall them if need be.
Update: Just tried a system restore and that didn't work.

Nothing here "screwed up your apps". Let,s not use hyperbole.
The ODNT system is pretty clear. You've renewed before and must have seen this come up in other posts.
Stardock does not nor has it ever had a policy of storing copies of everyone's subscription at the time of a subscriptions end. We provide installers for active subscribers and have provided a method of restoring user archives. The Impuse sale to GameStop has caused some bumps but we've tried really hard to do right by our users. . and I think we've done a good job.
Crap!
I am very, very unhappy about that, Steve. I really thought that would fix it, and I don't really understand why it didn't.
Steve, do you not have a full image backup for your system?
Giz, you have mail.
*doc wishes there were a 'neutered' version of Impulse which could only be used to restore SD apps archived thru Impulse.
I like the sound of that but I can't imagine that it's feasible. Seems like one way or another Stardock would be infringing on what is now GameStop's software rights, I can't imagine it ending well (other than for lawyers somewhere). "Elvis has left the building."
Ah well...things happen...it'll get worked out somehow I'm sure.
Update: The kind people at Stardock are working on a fix for me...namely Mr.Zubaz! Thanks bud!
