Hey everyone!
We are now ready to have everyone use the new Stardock Central! Please note that this software is currently in Beta and may contain bugs or performance issues.
What does the new Stardock Central do? It lets you download and install any Stardock software you've purchased. It notifies you of updates to the software you have it installed. It also downloads the installers to your computer so that you will always have a backup of our software in the future.
You can download it by going to this page and clicking on Download: https://www.stardock.com/stardockcentral/
Note that the new Stardock Central can update itself. This means that when I push a new version of Stardock Central live, it will automatically update itself the next time it runs. There's no need to come back here to re-download future updates!
Please post any issues you have in the Stardock Central Support forum. I'll be checking it daily for any issues.

oh yeah, it worked. too well! when it said it would overwrite files, i assumed it meant any files with the same file names. nope! it wiped everything in the folder! all of my family pics, important docs, and everything else! grrrrrrrrrr. doing a system restore didn't bring any of those items back, either. i'm not a happy camper at the moment. right now, i'm slapping any old drives i have in the docking station trying to find one that may have copies of these items.
I hope you find archives.
i'm sad to say i don't. i'm pretty distraught right now. quite a few of those pics can't be replaced. i guess it's my fault but why would tweak 7 feel the need to overwrite what is already in a folder? what advantage is there to doing that?
btw, unless i'm missing something, tweak 7 doesn't move the public folders which are where wb and ip store their skins.
I'm so sorry Pas. Tweak should have put up at least one warning. You don't have any type of backup for you personal files?
Itcan be done through a Directory Junction which can redirect to a new location of Public folder (which is what Tweak7 did). First create a new folder on the new drive (E:\ in this example) and call it Public. Go to Cmd prompt by running as Administrator. Copy everything from existing public folder to the new folder created by using the command robocopy /MIR %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public E:\Public (or whatever name you used for public folder on E:) You need robocopy as it takes care of hidden files, etc, especially if you have Recorded TV folder within public folder. Once the copy is transferred, you need to delete the existing public folder and create a junction in its place. For this, boot into Safe Mode as an administrator and delete the public contents and folder, and again by starting the Cmd prompt as an administrator. To remove the Public folder: rmdir /s /q %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public Having created the new location folder, and deleting the existing public folder, now is time to create a Directory Junction for public folder with the following command: mklink /J %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public E:\Public (or whatever name you named the opublic folder on E:\) for example: mklink /J C:\Users\Public E:\Public Now, whatever is meant for the original Public folder gets directed to the new location.
zubaz, it did give a warning. it said files int he folder wold be overwritten. i assumed it meant files with the same names would be overwritten not EVERY file.
i'm fairly certain i've lost all my pics and docs.
i will try your suggestion regarding public folders when i get over the anger i'm experiencing now.
i have to admit i'm pretty aggravated over the skins being stored on the SSD by deafult. i know for a fact i could put wb skins on a secondary drive back in the xp days. i have a 240 gb SSD but i don't want to fill it up with frivolous stuff. a person needs to keep 1/2 the SSD's capacity open before the performance of the SSD starts to degrade. i can put quite a bit on there but the less i HAVE to put on there, the better.
Just a repeat of what I posted elsewhere:
I have noticed an oddity in the Installed Applications List. Right-clicking on a program there gets you nothing. However, right-clicking on a program in the New Software List will get you an option to view the serial number. Is this as planned? It seems backwards to me as after a program is installed you may need to view the number to activate it. I see no reason to view a serial number for a program that isn't installed.
I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding. Stardock Central will not auto-update Stardock software. It will download them and then notify you that updates are available. What Stardock Central does is auto-update itself. This means if Stardock Central 2.70 is live, your installed copy of Stardock Central will automatically update to 2.70 without any action required from you.
We discussed this during development but decided not to implement it at this time. Perhaps in a future update...
This will be fixed in the next update.
Still can't understand why I cannot see all my stardock purchase in SDC and why on my account page many of them still require impulse (now gamestop download).
I can download Demigod, but the two additional demigod require Impulse (didn't tried but it say so)
I can see GalCiv I and download it, but I cannot see it in SDC
GalCiv II require Impulse
SoSE require Impulse
Corporate Machine require Impulse
Political Machine require Impulse
On the side note, I would suggest to add options to only archive download. Now you can say to not install silently, but It will prompt anyway. I would like to download and install in a second moment.
Is there a chance to have a temporary list of thing you are planning to convert, so that we know? Thanks
I expect all stardock games to be available on SDC, expecially the ones that was available with the old sdc.
I can pass over the fact that I'll have to use Impulse for third party games, but for stardock games we were forced to use Impulse and I would like to avoid to pay for that. Also If I can buy the same product from stardock and than have it available, I don't see why It cannot be converted to work for previous custormers.
And what if you no longer have Impulse installed? I got rid of Impulse about a year ago. I'm sure I still have some ObjectDesktop apps which were installed with Impulse. Is there an alternative way to flush those old apps and then download them with SDC? Oh, and how can you tell which apps were installed with Impulse? hehe
Other that aborting an install after download, is there or will there be a way to download software for archiving or installing later? This is on new installs, not updates.
Aborting does work but requires too many extra steps, imo.
That doesn't work with a new install. For example. I wanted to dl OD Plus 2 which isn't installed. It downloaded and proceeded to install. It did not give an option to cancel the install, only the download. I closed SDC then aborted the install. SDC is set to Ask...and let me decide and to show betas. all other settings unchecked.
Correct.
Wow...I had no idea you were so involved in the development of this new SDC.
Bingo! I think it would be a welcome feature to a lot of users.
Yes and yes.
Yes, please!

I asked it some post above but got unnoticed.
There's now a Stardock Central 2.66 update available. Starting Stardock Central should auto-update itself to the latest version. You can check what version you have by going to the Settings and looking in the top right corner. If it doesn't auto-update, try again in an hour (a restriction set in place to prevent too many update checks). Please let me know if you run into any problems auto-updating!
2.66 Changelog:
Updated fine on my XP HP laptop. All the new additions are working fine. Great update!
