I have tried running it all in compatibility mode, but nothing seems to want to work very well, or at all,
I have a suggestion for star dock, if possible, it'd be f'n awesome if you extended this app to work with windows 8 and have the optionut in to be able to lock it as all background, including the start menue (metro deskscapes, YEA BABY), well, the new metro start menue,
It would look so slick...

One of the "perks" if you will, of the much-maligned (in this thread at least) subscription service is access to such beta releases. I hope that makes at least some of you feel better about your purchase.

You didn't confirm his theory that Stardock conspired to dupe people who don't know how to RTFP and try before you buy out of $49.
I personally don't find it necessary to have to 'confirm' anyone's theory. Just because it's a theory doesn't mean it is a fact. How does someones lack of due diligence constitute a conspiracy to dupe the end user? Oh that's right, I need someone to blame for my mistake! That makes the world a better place...
Wonders why people love to blame others for their own mistakes. If I go out and buy a ford fuel injector for my jag because it was on sale and I did not read what car it go's to and with no returns. Who's to blame me that's who. Same thing go's with software you need to read the system requirements. you don't buy shoes with out trying them on first. It's just a no brainer. Before I bought True Image I made sure it was compatible with win8. when I first looked it did not it was version 12 so I waited. The next time I looked version 13 was out and worked with windows 8. Do ya see where I'm going here.
OT - True Image is sucks. I used True Image for several years till it killed Windows 7 ability to access thumb drives. I have been using Paragon Hard Disk Manager suite for about a year and it is fantastic.
It works for me. I have been using it for many years. But I am not going to get into a pissing match over whose backup solution is better. That's so high school. I was just using it as an example.
Bad analogy...when I first bought True Image 2012, I checked to see if it was going to support Win 8 and thier website stated it would support it via a patch. I purchased it and installed it on Win7 with the intent on using it when I updated to Win 8. Then while waiting for Win 8 support, Acronis changed thier site to say that you would have to purchace an update to 2013 for Win 8 support.
Acronis screwed thier customers out of a promised update.
I used Acronis....very shortly. I didn't find out until after removing it that it rendered Windows Image (*Ultimate feature) Backup and Windows Backup non-functional. I've fixed it, (with a lot of googling), but I won't recommend Acronis to anyone.

Not really. Their bootable recovery disk works fine but the issue with thumbdrives when you install their software on Windows 7 was well documented in their forums. They replaced certain Windows disk drivers with their own version which was the source of the problem. Anyway to each his own as long as you use some sort of method to image your system, especially before testing any new software. LOL even Norton Ghost would be better than nothing or Windows recovery.

Oh. I do apologize then. Silly of me to think that Stardock should at all provide the most crucial information on the page, or any page after following where they lead me for that matter, where they're pushing extras that obviously contain products that won't work on the system that I'm obviously buying a product for. I would indeed be 100% in fault if I had bought the package without backing out of the tunnel I was being ushered through to find out what I was really getting. My bad.

Does anybody know when a beta of Deskscapes 4 will be available, that will run on Windows 8?
No problem. I will try to get this issue solved via Microsoft. They can modify Windows to make DeskScapes 3 compatible.

I'm eagerly awaiting Deskscapes 4 as well. I truly appreciated my Object Desktop subscription today when I discovered the nice new software releases such as Start8 and Decor8. Those two especially make Windows 8 awesome.
As a Dreamscene producer however, I'd love to see Deskscapes 4 soon

When Deskscapes 4 beta was originally reported to be issued in December, it was assumed that Stardock knew they could rewrite the software, now at the end of Jan ,I'm not too convinced
