I might as well put this up for people who want to play online with Rebellion. Not sure how many actually pre-ordered with the whole Steamworks issue going on.
After giving some thought I am probably gonna pre-order the game and throw out my issues with Steam and see how it goes. Heck maybe I'll learn to like Steam after this is over. (heard they got some pretty nice sales).
So I may as well figure out if people are even going to play this online since currently not many do.
Come on guys Multiplayer needs balancing and fixing in beta. Let's do the job right.
I have submitted an email to cancel my preorder. We'll see when it goes through.
I tire of PC market shenanigans. Everything from: "let's release it bugged and patch it later," on to "let's stick 3rd party(x,y,z) in it," to "let's remove x,y,z from it, and add it back in with a paid expansion." I mean dear god, what does it take to get someone to tell me exactly what I am getting, then have me hand them the money for it, and then get the exact thing I paid for? Now it's no longer a simple transaction, but rather a shell-game.
Astaxc, this isn't the post for your rant. Take it somewhere else, please. Make a rant thread. Bitch about how you've been supposedly wronged there.
Back on topic....
I have preordered! I will be here for the march madness
Same - pre-ordered and looking forward to MP March Madness. I am incredibly PSYCHED to be able to play this game in MP with automatching finally instead of endless dicking around trying to find and play a balanced set up custom game...
if the multiplayer setup is improved then i will definitely give it a whirl. consoles have spoiled me and im just not a "lobby" kind of guy.
I pre-ordered when it was first available, still waiting.
I as well have pre ordered (Back in april if I recall) and I intend on keeping my pre order
I also pre-ordered when it was announced!! I can't wait to play.
I've also pre-ordered just this past week. Looking forward to the beta.
How can we access to beta ? With the pre-order?
thank you
beta is probably in March : "If you like betas, you might want to keep early March open on your schedule. Just sayin'."
We have a couple of very vocal multiplayer testers on our external team that have nagged me relentlessly for months about multiplayer balance. It should be better overall, but time will tell. I can inform you all that one of the key things Steamworks has allowed us to do is to eliminate the potential for smurfing.
No smurfs! Lol annoying things.
Oddly it doesn't appear at this time possible to pre-order on Steam, even though Sins: Rebellion will be a Steamworks title. I prefer to purchase all my games through Steam.
Edit: Just recalled that Steamworks titles usually activate via Steam; even so, I'd prefer to buy it from Valve just to be lazy.
Once the beta date is announced I will likely pre-order to gain access. This is how I've done it with all the other Sins betas.
Um why... Steam is usually more expensive for new titles. You're better off with a retail version over steam on new releases. Also if you already have trinity or diplomacy, then you get the $10 preorder discount through stardock and still get a steam activation key when the game releases. Lazy or not, money talks. And my money told me to preorder via stardock and save some money in the process. It just makes sense. Oh, and steamworks titles always activate via Steam.
im confused can we still buy rebellion in store or is it only available via steam?
How do we join this external team?
I am pretty sure the development staff choices this personally or at least Stardock. Pre-order will get you into beta anyways.
Good question. What is this external team about and who is on it that plays online multiplayer? Anyone we might know? Are these anointed external testers all sworn to secrecy?
from my experience either its a closed network and you have to physically be at the dev site or if alpha can use the existing/new infrastructure to play the games online
All come with NDA.
I pre-ordered mine over a year ago. Ive been waiting for the beta anxiously and now that time is getting close. I have no issues at all with Steam, Ive been a steam user since its conception. I have never once had any issues with it working. and its a far better system then most others out there. one being Origin. Its easy to patch, and easy to reinstall your game. inviting friends to a game is a snap. I can not understand why many are so hell bent about this. I was a little taken back by it at first, but my reason were because of Brads stance on a non DRM platform for his games. but i do understand that now since they sold off Impulse it makes sense to me that they turned to Steam. Impulse wasn't exactly a great platform. Anyway, I'm ready for some Beta, I say bring it on.

Worst of both worlds, you need to have it use steam works and it is a digital download only.
