They don't look particularly cool or interesting, more like a floating vagina/womb in space minus the ovaries. Advent aren't related to the anime series Gundam Wing. So, if that ugly vaguely humanoid design is anything other then early drafts of the advent titan there will be a bored sigh following rebellions release. A cool looking flying saucer/oldschool cylon base star mix would look about 100 times better then anything the developers have shown us regarding advent titans. A sphere with glowing hull lines would also similarly keep my interest as the other advent titan. Hopefully they will just change the designs, but I figure it to be too late.
But its all moot anyways right? the TEC will just be able to turtle forever, the vasari will be able to relocate wherever they darn well feel like it having no empire weaknesses, and the advent might be able to take over a planet...whatever that means. Advent titan should have a blanket "mind control" ability that would over time mind control ANYTHING. By anything i mean planets, titans, starbases, anything. As the titan levels up it increases the amount of things that it can keep mind controlled. This would be through the use of culture, which the titan would also emit. This would be a fun way to play advent end game, and really give those advent super "weapons" a really nice combo so that they might actually be built for combat, instead of lols. It wouldn't be overpowered, as the other races have very strong abilities as well. I like the idea of this ability as I have outlined it, because it means that no matter the situation, the advent titan will ALWAYS strike fear into your opponents heart, even if it looks like a vagina/womb.
Edit: okay okay, that advent titan DOES have the ovaries.
..This one?
Did they change it somehow from this concept? I absolutely love the main body and wings, and even the little disk thingie, but what really throws me is those "legs". They just look far too fragile and... pointless.
I don't know maybe if they were pointing backwards like a tail and were a bit bulkier I'd be 100% sold on it, but I'll wait until I can see it in-game.

Do you have the beta right now? Because if so you can sort of see it from the main menu screen. As you flip between options (single player, lan, options, etc) the camera moves around from one titan to another spread around the background. It is random so you might have to reload the game a few times, but it does give you a glimpse of most of the titans (through the menu overlay). Still missing one of the Vasari ships, but you can see both of the Advent's.
The ship in question seems to have changed a little from the concept art, both it's "wings" and it's "legs" are slightly more swept back than the side view art indicates. You may be right about the legs looking better if angled even further, but even the slight angle they currently have is a vast improvement over the striaght vertical legs seen in the concept art.
I didn't realize it was random, I presumed that it was always Ankylon, Advent Loyalist and Vasari Rebel, I shall go check it out now, thanks.
Edit -
Right you are, that's looking much better. I like, seems my fears about it were misplaced.
I think the idea is that it's supposed to look like some kind of "angel". Which fits in with their redemptionist theming as a faction.
I'm, almost positive its Watto from SW.
Is it just me or is everyone not able to play advent or Vasari? Because it sure be nice to tryout the new titans.
It's just you. The rest of us are having a blast with the wormhole torpedoes, Vasari transphase titans and quantum capital ships. Awesome stuff!
Watto only has one pair of wings and a really big nose.
you are kidding right cause I can't play advent or vasari yet
Yet you can still see the pictures. The recent post (which was removed) where all the titans were lined up with their abilities shown via mouseover confirms changes to the advent rebel titan (the humanoid one), yet no real changes to the vagina/womb loyalist titan(the vagina/womb looking titan).
This thread is about aesthetics first, and skullcracking/head-patting second
The Advent rebel titans 'head' looks like that of an alien from the AVP movies. I like it a lot.
yeah this thread was started before that previous thread was released, i find myself actually enjoying the advent rebel titan despite its humanoid appearance.
The loyalist one still catches my ire though
Yeah, sorry Sareth. I think this is a mater of "Can't please all the people all the time." as opposed to something that was done wrong.
I respect your opinion (and that of your girlfriends i guess) that you don't really like the looks of the advent titans, but frankly, I REALLY do. Where you see something uninspired and boring, I see a two starships that are meant to stand out in the advent crowd.
I'm sorry you don't like them, but I don't think it really needs to be changed at all. Just give the game a try when it comes out, you may change your mind!
I think, they should remove that saucer part of the Rebel Advent titan and those hideous "ornaments" - whatever it is. Then it will look decent.
Unless that saucer is like Captain America's shield and is hurled at any Titans...
The design on the saucer bugs me more than anything for some odd reason. In the concept art it is not so bad, one could imaigne it to be a bridge or a power generator or dish of some sort, but seeing it on the model covered in filigree makes it look too ornamental, not functional enough.
But removing it (the disc) altogether and just upping the size of the rest of the ship a little would be my preferred solution. One advent with vertical halo/disc behind/above it's "head" is enough really.
I sure the halo will have something to do with one of its abilities, hell it may even spin like tha Vasari weapon jammer.
Once we see the halos do something I'm sure you all will like them
that is a GREAT idea!!!!
i am fine with all titan ship designs. but there is one i hate. not liking is not strong enough. i hate the rebel advent titan. it looks like a big vagina transformer, marking the g-spot with a disk. c'mon thats not a ship design.
if advent would not be my favorite race, i would not care. plz changed that ship design!!!!!
Maybe it's my lack of a freudian mind, but am I the only one not seeing these ships as vaginas? My initial reaction to both was that they had an aesthetic of looking like something the Advent would worship, if you will.
The Coronata looking like an obelisk or pillar, or an idol embodying something or someone, think how people pray at statues of Mary. The Eradica was designed to look like angelic (the thing was originally named Cherubim for christ's sake), more so now that they've swept the "legs" back.
Both fit the faction's principles, the Loyalists are about forcing people into their cause, like people would flock to an "idol" to worship, whilst the Rebels are about death, rebirth, renewal and redemption, their Titan uses it's followers to heal itself and grows more powerful if something kills them, it's a guardian angel.
Or maybe I'm reading too deeply into it and you're all right and the art team were clearly trying to design giant space vaginas, I don't know.
(No really I don't even get how the Rebel one of all things looks anything remotely like a vagina.)
Edit - Also I feel like the only person who likes the Eradica's floating disk thingie. Can't wait to see the functionality it has, since we know the Coronata's halo fires giant lasers.
I completely agree, the legs are way too long.
Thinking about it bit more, i would remove the saucer and the legs, so only the central part and those 2 pairs of wings would remain. I would perhaps accept the disk to remain as well, if it kept its concept art design, but the ingame version with that ornament is IMHO horrible. If it rotated and fired some strahl from the center of the disk, it could look quite good.
Have no issue with Coronata design. I think the "shockwave" from the "arc" part is a good idea.
Anyway, as long as they keep that Charybdis design for Vasari Loyalists and let me kill enemy planets with it, i am going to be happy.
Lets be honest: I think they designed a Vasari Titan and gave it to the advent rebels. This design is not advent as much as you try make yourselves believe it is. Simply put its no where near any of the current designs while the loyalist titan looks like a bigger version of the revelation battle-cruiser.
I really love the halos. Gives the vessels a very religious feel... Which, if I'm understanding it right, is what the advent are all about?
I love the designs guys, don't touch a thing!
