So I was watching a video concerning the situation with Steam and banned accounts.
Apparently there have been cases where people who been using Steam for god knows how long are banned for legitament reasons or nothing (who knows). In the process they can loses hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of games since Steam requires you to access your account online to access that Library of yours. Being banned means you can't access your account.
So I was looking at various laws and such and see that there is no mention of this.
The laws are apparently too old and outdated for it to be included. Most of them passed in the 20th century before this was even avaliable nor concievable.
I don't see it fair that Steam has the right to essential "steal" from you all that money worth of games despite that you have legitamently paid for each and every single one of them. And if Steam somehow "dies" on us (very unlikely), what the hell happens to all those games? If Steam isn't available does that mean our games just disappear along with it?
Sure you can sue the company but I doubt a teenager, the biggest group of Steam users (probably), has the resources to pursue a law suit or have parents willing to do so. This is reason why I've never bothered to use Steam in the first place. I perfer my games to be hard copies thank you very much.
Thoughts?
I think it doesn't need a law since you click AGREE to the TOS which is a contract between you and the supplier.
Due diligence of any game you buy is a must now. Anything steam goes back on the shelf which is why I hardly buy anything any more.
I also found some TOSs online you can read before you buy.
Good point there but it still kinda scandalous that something like that is possible.
I agree, but depends on the reason as well. I cant stand hackers/crackers and think they should be banned but saying stuff in the forum against Steam should be a forum ban and not a account ban. Lawsuits may help.
CFPB would be a good place to start with this, but the Republicans have been trying to kill it since day 1.
Perhaps people should read what they're getting into before doing so too. Might not be such a great idea investing so much in something so easily taken away.
You paid for a subscription for the life of your account; you don't "own" anything on Steam. They don't make you consent to the Steam Subscriber Agreement for no reason.
Don't kid yourself. Window dressing and a propaganda tool, nothing more. What we need is a way to protect ourselves from the crooks writing the laws which created CFPB.
Just say it was total biscuits.

But... but... Consumer Protection Rights ARE getting updates. That's what all the SOPA, PIPA and ACTA are for.
The obsolete Consumer Protection Rights are in the way of corporate profits. They must go.
I seriously hope you are being sarcastic...
