My quests are worthless. I don't think posting them will help. Here's a basic one I'm trying to do (see below). Maybe you could create a video showing me (and others) how to do it.
1. You meet a cobbler who needs a whetstone to sharpen his tools. Benny the Bandit stole his only whetstone.
2. Find Benny's hideout. Defeat Benny and return with the whetstone.
3. The cobbler makes you a pair of boots for returning the whetstone.
How to install v 1.0, so to install 1.1 ?
If Murt is too busy, will someone else who has had success with the Quest Editor, please make a video of them making the sample quest I proposed above as a Christmas present?
Sorry, I will try to get a video done, but it is going to have to wait for a few days. With 4 kids, Christmas is not a "vacation".
I would like to make some really simple quests to spice up the endgame a bit, but they don't seem to work.
I want similar stuff to the cave quests, where you enter something and fight without much choices/movement etc. but the choices seem to want to send me away, and when I don't put anything there it doesn't work.
I only have one objective in the quest "1 Fight the monsters", is that the problem? (or is it my making of 3+ dragon party in the monster fight?)
Any help is appreciated, or a template. I didn't get any of the sample quests to work in the OP, so couldn't grab them and edit.
I've stuck with Fight Monsters quest because you have to be very careful what you do with the others. I haven't had the problems you have but here are some observations when creating quests:
Go ahead and post your quest that isn't working, so we can load it up and see what is going on. Some of the problems stem from the Quest System in the game being very "fiddly". Meaning that if you don't get it exactly right some things don't work. It's what got me frustrated with the idea of a quest editor in the first place, and is one of the reasons you haven't seen alot of work by me lately. Somethings that should work, simply don't.
No doubt. Most of the faults lies with the Game Engine.
HI, I really want to start making some quests and a whole campaign for FE, but my computer won't install this mod and I don't know how to make quests without it. I have windows 7 64-bit on a dell. I download the file and hit the setup.exe, but it always says it wasn't able to complete or something. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.
Okay so I've figured out how to make quests without the wizard but IT IS A PAIN. I don't know why the wizard won't install on my comp, it just says something like "missing required information" or data or something like that. Could it be because I bought FE through Steam? Do I need to unzip it to a specific location? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
First off, you can do better than that Quoting the error will be much easier for Murteas to translate if he is still roaming these forums.
Second off, it requires elemental to be installed somewhere on your computer.I am not sure how it works with steam though.Had my version installed on my own desktop, so no problem with that, going to retry downloading.
Dunno if the latest patch changed something, Murteas is the host so he probably knows the best about the program (I have just been peeking in here now and then).
Besides from that, I dunno.
Sincerely~ Kongdej
It should work with steam. You may have to tell it where your install is, but it should ask you if it can't find it. Try completely uninstalling the program and reinstalling. You may have to install .net 4 if you don't already have it on your computer.
The latest patch shouldn't have changed anything with the wizard. It has been at a "stable" place for a while now.
Okay, I made sure I hate .net framework 4 installed and I tried running it again. here is the information it sent me on why it wouldn't install.

Hm, all that computer hocus pocus language...
I just tried installing it myself, and worked flawlessly on my 32bit windows 7.
In the zip file you download there should be a file called QuestWizard.application. Do you see that file? What I would recommend is to unzip the file to its own folder somewhere, then double click the setup.exe.
You should have 3 things in the zip file: a folder called Application Files, QuestWizard.application, and setup.exe. If any of those things are missing, then that is why you can't install.
Also, you have to be an administrator to install this application.
I think I'm gonna have to give up on this. Tried everything. Thank you for your help though. Looks like a great mod.
Sorry to hear it's not working for you. You might try a different computer if you have access to one (with FE installed on it). Best of luck.
