For ease of writing, let us call the new race the ‘Joth’mar’.
Once a very prosperous galactic empire, the Joth’mar ruled over numerous solar systems. They prospered in their galaxy extending their culture relentlessly to assimilate ever more worlds. What they could not obtain by negotiations, they did not hesitate to seize by force. They were considered as the most powerful empire in their whole galaxy, be it technologically or militarily. However, about 12,000 years ago; their whole empire became threatened by a devastating phenomenon that no one could explain the cause. Several wormholes appeared in their star cluster absorbing entire solar systems. Billions of lives were lost and this carnage did not seem to have an end as more and more wormholes were created. The situation became even more critic for the Joth’mar who had lost countless numbers of worlds; either destroyed by wormholes or rendered inaccessible due to phase line collapses. Scientists were urged to find an explanation to this phenomenon and they finally discovered a part of the puzzle after 500 years of dedicated research.
The research established that the phenomenon was not of natural cause. There was something or someone in another dimension who was creating major distortions in this dimension. Now having only about a quarter of their empire left, the Joth’mar decided to invest all their available resources into constructing a machine that would form a bridge or portal to allow them to travel to the other dimension. They hoped that they could halt the cataclysm be it by conciliation or confrontation. Almost 500 years later, they had almost achieved their venture. Unfortunately, by that time, they had only one solar system left under their control; the other worlds being either destroyed or permanently cut off from them by the distortion created by wormholes. The last controlled planets and asteroids left were located at safe distance from the portal machine that would create a wormhole to the other dimension. The Joth’mar fleet gathered around the portal machine ready to rush through the wormhole.
As the portal machine opened the wormhole, the scientists soon realized that they did not control the wormhole stability as well as they thought they did. They realized with horror that the wormhole would expand excessively to a point that it will destroy the nearby solar system; their last refuge. In a desperate move, all the spaceships rushed into the wormhole hoping to arrive safely to the other dimension. The first hundred spaceships to cross succeeded, but many were those who were destroyed as the wormhole lost connection to the other dimension to become a black hole. The survivors knew that their civilization were definitely lost. The irony being that in hope of finding a cure to the illness of their collapsing galaxy, they themselves created the wormhole that would seal the fate of their empire, exterminating the last remnant of their kinds.
The Joth’mar could not endure this irony. Now being in the dimension of their unsuspecting foe, they nourished hatred towards the race that destroyed them and they vowed to exterminate this race until the last of them. Having already developed sophisticated sensors to locate the different sources of the distortion, the Joth’mar had purposely decided to open their portal in an inactive part of the system. They turned up to have appeared in a small system of no interest for the then Powerful Vasari Empire; just near the latter’s core systems. The Joth’mar settled on some habitable planets and asteroids and started to build up their forces for the great confrontation to come. After sending scouting parties, they discovered the Vasari and their Phase Stabilizer technology. Ultimately the Joth’mar revealed that the origin of the wormholes in their dimension were the result of the activation of the phase stabilizers by the Vasari Empire. The extreme use of phase stabilizers in the ever expanding Vasari Empire would explain the severity of the phenomenon. The Joth’mar spied on the Vasari and found that they relied heavily on phase technology and nanite. They therefore started to develop disruptors to take this characteristic to their advantage.
After 1,000 years of research and building up, the Joth’mar finally decided that the time had come for revenge. They launched their assault to the core system of the unwary Vasari Empire and found the first few planets moderately protected; the Vasari Armada being at the borders of their empire. The Joth’mar found that most of the populations of the planets were made up of slaves and only a small elite were Vasari. The Joth’mar killed all Vasari and freed the slaves. As they progressed through the Vasari Empire; they also promoted their culture to enroll the slaves. They managed to bolder their forces with the new recruits at a remarkable pace, having Vasari resources and production facilities at hand. With phase missiles disruptors and nanite disruptors, the Joth’mar was able to surpass the Vasari with disconcerting ease. They made prisoners some Vasari to develop biological weapons against them. The result was a gas that is released in a planet’s atmosphere to specifically exterminate all Vasari presence. The rest of the story is known; the Joth’mar continued their vengeful progression exterminating all Vasari on their way, hunting the last survivors of the Vasari Empire, tracking them down by following the notorious signals of their phase stabilizers.
The Vasari are paying dearly their unsuspecting genocide; because, the sins of a solar empire are never forgotten.
(To explain why the Vasari crew was mad with terror; maybe the Joth’mar already had a Titan class ship at that time)
N.B. The Joth’mar should be strong against Vasari, weak against Advent (let’s say vulnerable to psi-tech abilities and to advent culture and having weak weapons against advent shield technology) and finally well balanced against Tec.
This could allow the advent to make a comeback in competitive multiplayer games since the below team build ups could be viable.
Team 1: Vasari & Advent V/S Team 2: Tec & Joth’mar. (Sensible from a lore perspective)
NOTE: English is not my mother tongue; I’m making an effort to write in English. Please be kind with my writing.
NOTE: I am not suggesting these ideas to be implemented into the next expansion or any future release. I only want to share my ideas with people in the forum who are interested in outguessing who are hunting the Vasari and why.
NOTE: I am not a physician and I have no knowledge on any theory concerning wormholes or other dimensions. I like science fiction and I am content with simple explanations that may seem ‘legit’.
NOTE: I hope someone is interested in my ideas and will be willing to write a lore based on it, because as you may have noticed; I’m simply bad at this exercise. And Yeah, I’m awful at paint! [EDIT] Removed painting
Dude............. THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!! That would be awesome to put into the game but only one question what do they look like? I hope they look alien cause the Vasarri are the only alien looking characters in the game.
I like the idea and would be glad to help. I thought that the ancient Vasari enemy was a race of crazed nanites, sorta like skynet in the Terminator movies. But that mod still isn't finished (the Darkness one), so...
That was a pretty sweet read! Worth coming out of lurking
I really enjoyed that. How did you think of that? What would be their specialty? Cus the Advent have culture and energy, sorta. The TEC have Economic and brute force. The Vasari have more powerful units, and as mentioned above, Phase Mastery and Nanites. But what's the Joth’mar's specialty? They could be a "overwhelm-with-numbers" empire. Or somthing else?
I always thought the vasari were running from sort of galactic sized grey goo.
Anyways, not to be rude, but what was written sounded like a children's book. It started strong in the beginning, and slowly lost flow and believability as it got further on. The lack of quality really shows toward the end.
Also, other than the lack of quality word-structure wise, the story began to lose its believability later on as well. The fact that the Joth'mar are uber super nice guys and "freed all the slaves" is more than a little too convenient. Also, I am pretty ignorant about astronomic science (if thats even what its called) but I dont think a wormhole would turn into a black hole, I mean isnt a wormhole essentially part of a black hole in the first place? The theory is, at least from what I remember, theres a black hole which creates a wormhole (more like worm... tube or something) which leads to a white hole.
I will give you props for coming up with the first paragraph though.
And hey, look, Im not trying to be an asshole or anything; If noone ever critiques you how will your skill ever improve? The world needs critics.
EDIT:
My bad. Missed this bit right here.
JCD-Bionicman the Joth'Mar aren't 'Super Uber Nice Guys' as you put it as freeing all the slaves is not necessarily good of them it's self serving and fueled by revenge as the Vasari slave workforce must have been HUGE in order to sustain their empire so therefore the Joth'Mar would use it as propaganda so the slaves would rebel against their masters in hopes of being free and in order to keep that rapid a rate of expansion going the Joth'Mar would need a massive workforce of motivated loyal people both expand the military and to make the ends meet in industrial needs "Oh where are we going to get a motivated loyal workforce?" Try the Vasari slaves.
Even Critics need Critics
By the way xalo89 brilliant idea but with the team build also Advent & Joth'Mar would work well as the Advent aren't the best against Vasari but brilliant against TEC allowing for quick assimilation of Vasari & TECTeams unless the TEC concentrate on the Joth'Mar while the Vasari concentrate on the Advent but even that's flawed by combined Defense and attack fleets
2+ years is a long time
NOT LONG ENOUGH
The day SOASE adds a fourth race is the day multiplayer dies and ironclad going out of business.
