Do fire elementals attack with fire damage? I'm pretty sure they do. In fact I'd bet on it. I could even find out for certain to see if their damage is affected by armor. But going by the Hiegernomecon and tactical battles, it is not visually obvious to me. Please, just color-code the damage. Fire damage can be red. Cold damage, bright pink. Death damage, neon green. Look, I don't care what color scheme you use, just do it!
As for champions who can potentially deal multiple types of damage with one melee attack, just separate elemental and regular damage from one another. So one attack that does 20 cutting damage and 1 cold damage would appear as-1-20in a tactical battle.
This would be really helpful. I love how easy it is to add elemental attacks to units, but I would also like to know what is going on damage wise.
Neon green would class with the healing* but yeah, if they could colour code the damage as well as split it by type when showing the text, that would be certainly helpful.
* I know it was just an example
Solid Suggestion!
Also, I have a friend who is color blind so I also suggest developing a small icon for the damage. So a little red fireball beside the damage number would get the point across to everyone.
I like the split damage suggestion. More information is always better. So a little red fireball and a -5 followed by a gray sword and a -10 let's me know I just did 15 points of damage. Also I may know enough about my weapon to know part of it was resisted though this type of detail. Maybe I make a smarter attack next round if the enemy is fire resistant for example.
Great idea!
