Hello, I have only played a few hours and I think this game is a huge improvement over the WoM. Everything is very clean, the interface is nice... it is very usable.
I have a few minor comments on city development:
1. Is there a way to shuffle your city build queue other then removing everything and re-adding it? Am I missing something? Otherwise it is crazy to have to remove everything and re-add everything just to reorder an item.
2. Suggestion: There should be separate build queues for units and buildings. Military recruitment and city upgrades should be two separate activities. (I mean your masons and carpenters don't wander over and start building people!) This division would require splitting the production in half between the two queues (or better yet, allowing the user to set percentage dedicated to each). This would allow me to manage military production and city development separately without having to shuffle things around because I lose a unit or want to refocus cities.
3. When I looked at the tutorial it mentions that I can hit a button in the upper right to see the grain production for each tile. That button doesn't seem to work in the game. I can't seem to find a place to build another city since the grain produced doesn't show up any where. (I'll try a new game and see if this is reproducible). Turns out there just wasn't any suitable land for over 30 squares away.
4. [NEW] Suggestion: Recommend when Tile Yields are enabled, 0 Yield appears on squares that do not produce anything. That way if new users embark in a desert area (like I did) they won't wonder why that button doesn't do anything. (Due to the fact that if they are surrounded by desert, nothing appears when that button is pushed.)
Thanks for the great game, I'm sure I'll have more comments.
So I verified #3. After the first city is settled, tile yields no longer work. The button in the upper right (that turns them on) does nothing. They also don't show in the little tile info window.
Agree with #1 & #2. Haven't looked into #3 yet.
I do not agree with number 2. That's how it worked in WoM. One building queue per city is plenty to keep track of. I doubt they will change it.
There is a distance limit between cities. I play on a medium map and have found plenty of spots for a city, but when you build one there it means you have to go 7 or so tiles away to build another.
Great post but i disagree with 2. To many things to constantly manage can get annoying fast.
I don't think it would be any more to manage. You are just allowed to build troops and buildings simultaneously.
Oh I did figure out the city issue. It turns out on the map I was on, there just wasn't any suitable land for over 30 squares away.
Totally agree with 1 and 2. Reordering the build queue would be really helpful, and separating buildings/units makes sense.
