I don’t just love Star Wars: The Old Republic. I’m IN love with it. Don’t be jealous. Just be happy for us.
SWTOR = KOTOR 3 (supposibily) + multiplayer.
Yes it is an epic combo but I much rather have KOTOR 3 bc I can't afford paying out of 15 dollars out of my pocket for each month
I love it too. And I am sad that I will not be on this weekend. :'(
Family trip.
Thats also a problem Ryat. Everytime I am on a monthly fee. Any time not playing is money wasted to me especially for extended periods of time. Like for some odd reason I can't play for a week then I practically wasted a good $3.75. I don't like that feeling so I have a tendency to avoid monthly fee games despite how "epic" they are. Which isn't such a bad choice since there are a lot of great games out for $60 dollars flat like Skyrim for example.
Also I heard that EA kinda screwed a few people by "accidentaly" not giving them the 30 days that came with the $60 purchase of the actual game.
Sigh. Ryat...Ryat...Ryat.
Let me give you some advice:
Friends, Family, Religion. These are the 3 demons you must slay in order to be a proper Sith lord.
Well if you do it by the hour then the numbers change. If you can play only 15 hours (I can log in more with family and a job) then you are only paying a dollar an hour. I went with the six month plan, which reduces the cost, and I can play more hours. So it comes out to something like 50¢ an hour for me. With my job I make tons more than that per hour and usually work more hours then I play.
Except I am going Jedi Master. Those must be upheld.
In Kaas City Jedi have a very short life expectancy...
I do hate that I have do all sorts of stupid stuff as I chose to be an evil imperial agent. There's no turning back anymore, yet there are so many people that are dead because of the Force corrupting me against my will. Makes for a pretty authentic experience though, me growing to hate what I have become.
I am have been able to avoid the corruption of the dark side. I merely choose what is best for me > best for the empire > best for everything else.
There is no I in team, but there is one in Empire. It is probably too late for you now, but I have learned to balance the surges dark and light to bend to my will.
I wonder which one of us will get to Eagle first...
There is no passion, there is serenity.
I really wish I could play with you guys. Stupid time.
I will NEVER support any MMO, $ 59. dollars to start, then $ 15 monthly.
Remember when TV was free? Buy a set and plug it in?
Support MMO's and companies will see this and you will forever start to pay a monthly fee for your gaming pleasure.
Frogboy of course you love it...you own a video game company...the thought of charging your player base not once but monthly would be a win win for you.
I pay only as long as I think it's worth it. If you don't, then you don't have to pay.
QTF, Why do you think paying for TV is/was so profitable. People saw it was worth it. Me? Well I don't watch TV anymore so I don't pay for it.
Hell, if you play actively for a couple of months you can sell the account for profit if money's that important to you.
Meh, I got my moneys worth so far.
Paying 12€ for a good mmo safes me a lot of money. A good MMO eats all my gaming time. When a realy like a MMO i don´t need no other games. And that saves a lot of money per month.
And i love that game too. And...first time i like twinking.
I havent' heard that. There were a few people complaining that you had to subscribe to get the 30 days though, which really isn't a big deal as you aren't charged until your free time is up.
Yeah - I'm not thrilled about paying $15 a month, but I figure I'll play it a ton, get burned out, drop my sub - then re-up if there is an expansion. By and large, I'm still loving the game.
Considering that these games are in constant development with new stuff being added, it's really not that expensive. The fee works out to a new game every 3 months, and I don't tend to get 3 months out of a new game whereas something like TOR will keep me busy for that time pretty easily.
Sometimes stuff is worth paying for.
... and TV is still free. You can still buy a set and hook up an antenna, same as you always could. Only thing different now is you need a set with an ATSC tuner. But lots of people pay for TV anyway to get a better selection.
The ultimate dream is to require players to sever their own digits and send them in to play.
But in the meantime, I'll settle for paying $X per month. I'm having crazy fun at this game.
He knows. It was an allegory. Though, plenty of TV is walled, but the walls are getting thinner.
I think I'd like the game but I never liked the Star Wars universe at all. Enjoyed KOTOR though.
Either way, interesting seeing what people think of things or I obviously wouldn't still be here.
Enjoy paying your monthly fee boys...............
You'll never see a KOTOR again, now that they got you as a subscriber.
Well, not playing SWTOR does not necessarily mean there will be another KOTOR, anyway. Bioware may well decide in that case "oh well, no-one liked SWTOR, let's not bother making another Star Wars game for a while".
Companies go where the cash is if you help make this game a cash cow eventually all games IMHO will eventually charge some type of subscription.
No, you are committing a fallacy. Just because "everyone" here pays for SWTOR, does not mean that everyone pays only for it. We also pay for other games. The market would only be filled with pay-per-month games if noone wanted anything else. But we do, as well as such games. In addition, there are many who do not play SWTOR but other games. Us playing SWTOR has no impact on their preferences. Your assertion is demonstrably false, and arguably silly (considering you are arguing your point on a set of forums linked to a publisher that has NO monthly payments for their games yet).
Besides, you also have a fatal logical flaw in your argument. You claim that if we pay for games like SWTOR, then the market will be filled with only such games. But, if we only pay for such games, wouldn't that be exactly what we want? You are appealing to our very preference NOT to have the market filled with SWTOR-like games. Either we already have such a preference, in which case your argument is moot. Or, we do not have such a preference, in which case your argument is counter-productive.
