Sins of a Solar Empire is often described as a 4XRTS game, or a game that tried to merge the action and tactics packed gameplay of a Real time strategy game with the deep, complex, empire wide strategy of a 4X turn based game. Its up to debate whether Sins succeeded in this goal, but I think all can agree that of the 4Xs of "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate", Sins is much more focused on the exterminate than on the other three.
This mod seeks to give more depth to the other 3Xs of the game by adding additional game elements or refining the existing ones to reward players who give more strategic thought to the non-combat side of the game. Combat will still be the center point of the game, but players will find that the non-combat options available will be much more rewarding and will need to put more thought into developing their economies. This mod will also attempt to address some other weaknesses of Vanilla Sins where possible, such as increasing race diversity or improving the AI.

I have been trying to use this mod for a few days now and on every start i get a crash withing 2 minutes or so. I already have my graphics all set to high and even tried medium on everything. Unfortunately i have not tried this before the 1.8 patch are subsequent hotfix. I get a dump file sent to the folder but cannot read it. one time i did have a black hole star but only once. I have tried at least 15 times or so to play. I have redownloaded the mod and that didnt make a difference.
I also didnt seem to matter on map size.
Well, I'm uploading a new version that fixes the 1.8 hotfix crashes right now. Wait until that goes live on moddb, and if you still get the crash try reducing your graphics settings (specifically texture quality. Most PCs can't have highest Planet/Ship/Structure detail when using mods I'm afraid).

Stumbled upon a possible bug. I'm unable to build a starbase in an antimatter fountain gravity well. Not entirely sure if im just not supposed to be able to build one, but if that's true then there is no tooltip explaining that.
5on5 with hard AI as VCC on Vast map using 1.701 with Enhanced Research and reset Titan levels Minimods.
To be fair, there isn't exactly anywhere to explain that you can't build an SB there, unless it's slapped into the ability description.
I tested some more and it's the same in every AM fountain gravity well. First i thought it might be a problem with the capturable trade stations, but it definately has to do with the gravity well. And no, the ability tooltip doesnt say anything about not being able to build starbases. Actually it does state that antimatter + regeneration are improved for starbases as well.
Another thing i've noticed which is probably unrelated to E4X is that the Vorastra keeps canceling its movement orders after using micro phase jump left on autocast to quickly jump through a gravity well.
Apart from that ive finished my game and had lots of fun with it. Love the extra Artifacts, encounters and race specific changes. I'm not entirely convinced by the embassy system as it does make building up relationship a peace of cake, but that's just a minor thing.
The AM Fountain star base bit is a "feature" in vanilla Sins itself; you really should be complaining to SD/IC and not to Goa.

Hmm, yes it seems you are correct. This was not a change with the mod though, even in Vanilla Rebellion you can not build space mines or Starbases in them. I didn't even notice this until you told me.
That said, Lavo I did change antimatter fountains in other ways, so I can fix it in the mod without needing to wait for the devs. It will be fixed in the next release in E4X, though you might indeed want to complain to Stardock too.
Wasnt complaining at all, just wanted to raise awareness and didnt know it was a Vanilla thing. Tbh i never play Vanilla all that much, so when anything new makes it into the game, i dont have a Vanilla comparison in mind. Shouldve read it up first though, so nevermind and sorry.
I'd like to confirm that VCC titan automatically recieves a move-order to it's previous location after using [Q - mini phase jump] which was def not the case in vanilla. Minor issue for such a big mod really but if you have the time to fix it, couldn't hurt ^^
Aside from that I haven't experienced crashed as frequently as I used to with lower graphic settings so thanks again for the hint.
Are you sure? My experience with vanilla was that this indeed caused it to forget its orders. Though I suppose it has been a while.
The only thing I changed with that ability was a buff to maneuverability. If by some weird reason this is causing the problem, would you rather lose the turning/phase jump charge up buff or have it forget its orders?
Well i updated the mod and got a crash in less than 2 or three minutes. I then went into Steam and had it check file integrity for Rebellion and it found a few files and re-downloaded them. When i started the game again the graphics were on the default settings with some on medium and some on high. I played for about 20 minutes with no issues. I did also turn off the sky boxes as I remembered something when sins was first released that sky boxes gave me issues then.
So I will slowly turn up the graphics as I like all the pretty ships, and i have a pretty high performance system and like to takes advantage of that. Is there any particular graphics setting that is most troublesome with memory usage?
I like this mod and the mini mods are fun too. Its a shame this engine cant be modified to 64 bit and multicore optimized, I have 8 cores waiting around to do some work..
Texture quality settings are the only real ones that matter (Planet/Ship/Structure detail). In particular highest settings on these have always hated mods, even before Rebellion.
Beyond that, feel free to max out things like shadows, filtering etc., those are handled by your graphics card so I imagine your system can handle it.
That is bizarre. Kind of too bad as there are some cool new skyboxes in this mod, but sometimes it is nice to get the deep space feel in Sins too.
I have a simple question. What is purpose of having 2nd entity for Titans (such as TITAN_PHASELOYALIST2.entity)?
Its not a big thing but I noticed the 2nd entity files were missing in vanilla version.
So, I thought they must be specific for some kind of feature in E4X.
And I like to thank GoaFan77 for the hotfix because now I am able to continue my skirmish.
They are only used in the resetting titan level minimod.

Just tried out the new patch. max npcs, massive super uber map, and it mini-dumped about 3mins in.
What is your checksum? Also did you try lowering your texture quality settings a bit and see if it prevents the issue?

Well, you're in for quite a surprise then.
It appears about 20% of the time on any random map besides tiny. If you really want to see it you can technically cheat and make a map in the map designer that has it.
First of all, remember the main E4X mod must be at the BELOW the optional minimods in your mod order.
Second, if you get a minidump that doesn't seem to be caused by anything in particular, always just reducing your texture settings a notch.

Sounds good for a cheating way to find it however, I will stick it out to find it the fair way. its out there!
Tomorrow Ill put the main mod below as it was up top. My textures where highest on the top three then high on the others as Ive seen on many posts. Below was the order I had my items in so I will put the main on the bottom and move everything else up one. Hopefully it works with no issues tomorrow
