It’s been a long time since I got so addicted to a game that I found myself playing it long after I knew I should have gone to bed or eaten…or bathed.
But SWTOR is such a game. My sons have left the lands of Skyrim and joined me and our guild (Lords of Hyperon on Kaas City server – I’m Talax there) where we have been playing together. God, it’s good to have sons.
The last game that held my attention like this was Planetscape Torment which was a very very long time ago. SWTOR as a single player game is outstanding. Other than partying up with my fellow guildmates and my sons (mostly my sons) I’ve played it alone and the story is compelling.
My poor wife. She says all she wants for Christmas now is for husband and sons to bathe. Some wishes just can’t be fulfilled.
uhm........................................BETA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Work ethic, must try harder, can the ai hold it's own against 'Ceasar'? (Just watched Rise of the Apes). Does the ai ambush, trick ya, plan a diplomatic backstab, will they send a shuttle to the moon first?, does cutting off a unicorn's horn turn it pink? addiction to games is all good for gamers but you sir are in essence like peter parker, sure you want to have a normal life but you must use your powers to the benifit of mankind & give up your personal desires edit: (he gave up maryjane - I know from personal exp. this is very hard to do)
Well you convinced me to buy it. I am getting it today, post Christmas sales be damned!
Kaas City you say...
I know what you mean about getting sucked up into the game. Loving it and playing way too much. Ah well - Christmas vacation is Christmas vacation though. Enjoy!
It doesn't hurt (or help?) that I'm one of those Star Wars nuts who is into the EU lore to an unhealthy level.
I prefer the Sith.
BTW, I *am* working on FE AI at the same time. My wife objected to me taking my sons out of school. I'm on vacation this week but coding FE while they're at school and then playing with them when they get home.
Ok this video is perfect for Brad...
I watched a long demo video of SWTOR and actually wasn't impressed. Sci-fi setting aside, it seemed a lot like WoW in function. I was not a fan of having to organize 10-20 for the larger raids and them involving waiting waiting waiting predictable scripted fight waiting waiting waiting and repeat. I realize it has a solo aspect, but the reason I'd play a MMORPG is to play with and against other players. Can anyone speak to the group questing? Or the PvP?
I hated Wow, but for some reason this game has me on the edge of my seat. I feel as if I am a real Agent in the world. I have plans... oh yes... I have many plans for the Empire.
Must quit playing game and make wife happy.
Must....
Quit....
I CAN'T! I CAN'T! I CAN'T!
Am loving this game.
CURSE YOU BIOWARE!

My fiance is using the word "addiction" when it comes to me and this game. Just not sure it's going to have lasting appeal. Being able to get to level 50 in a month seems pretty quick. but then I guess you have 8 stories, so 8 months? Also, supposedly when they implement the Legacy system, you will get rewarded for having multiple character finish chapters. We'll see.
