Just saw this and figured I'd pass it on for any of you that have been holding out. Starcraft II is on sale through Nov 28th through Blizzard as a digital download. If you are familiar with Blizzard's pricing, you really don't often see a good deal on their titles for a LONG time after they are released. So, if you have been on the fence and still want this game, this is a great opportunity to save some $$.
Here's some more info on the deal, but I think you can just pick it up through Blizzard's site.

Edit - This deal appears to only be good for North America.
edit 2 - This available now on amazon for $29.99. Looks to be just a black friday special, but its free shipping on the retail box. http://www.amazon.com/Starcraft-II-Wings-Liberty-Pc/dp/B000ZKA0J6/ref=br_lf_m_409566_1_4_ttl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=videogames&pf_rd_p=1334773502&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=409566&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0HQQFD1CYM4SSTAB53GT

oh great. so i can buy a game right before the expansion comes out...
No, still waiting for the complete combo pack, when they are done releasing both expansions.
Yeah - likely a 2 year wait for that, but suit yourself, ofc. I don't think the original Starcraft battle chests came out until like a year or so after they released the last expansion, so maybe 3. Mayhaps things will be different now that its activision/blizzard, though. I'm all for saving money and waiting if you are a patient person, but I personally doubt this will drop back to $30 anytime soon (but then again, I didn't really expect to see it at $30 at all, so who knows).
I probably won't be getting anything but a StarCraft II Battle Chest, because I don't have a computer capable of handling StarCraft II yet.
^^ that too.
my comp barely runs their demo at lowest settings.
I would love to play the game... but the whole needing to be connected to the internet pisses me off.
Actually, this one; rather watch videos and those are free. The older I get the lazier I get and I was pretty lazy to begin with.
actually ya. i spend a good amount of time watching casted starcraft games.
its like football. but for nerds.
I foolishly got sc2 at release just to find out that custom games, which are the part i was interested in, are much worse than back on wc3. Curse you blizzard! I just hope diablo 3 gets us back to the blizzard i know and love.
Sorry to disappoint you Delmoroth, but Diablo III looks to be rather annoying because there is no offline singleplayer.
Yeah, i have been hearing very bad things about the beta but i am trying to keep my hope alive.
Yeah - but we all adjust as needed. Even if we don't want to. Consider this - unless you are always without internet (name me one of us nerds that is (eg hmmm... how are you posting here?)), its not that bad. Folks just get pissed because someone says you HAVE to have an internet connection. Oh NOES. It probably doesn't impact you outside of being annoyed that you didn't have to have an internet connection that you already have. Anyway, you can argue that if you want, but at least for me, I always have an internet connection and I'm not impacted. Do I agree with their you must have an internet connection policy? No. Do I care because there is no impact impact to me? No.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to Diablo 3 as well. I don't care if it requires always on (as I'm always on). Be nice if I could just play without the internet - but seriously, if you are responding here...me still thinks you have an internet. So, whining = smeh.
The thing is I rarely play games online, even though I always have an internet connection. I don't particularly like the idea of being forced online, because Diablo has always had offline singleplayer, but it also doesn't have an impact on me in the grand scheme of things, since my computer can't handle the game anyway.
Anyone here still play SC2? I haven't played competitively for about half a year, and it'd be nice to play a lot of non-ladder games so as not to be rusty before heading back to the ladder.
I live in the Italian countryside and my connection, though "permanent" in theory, totally goes black-out now and then, and the disservice can last up to a few hours. This is frustrating as it is (you feel "powerless" when you can't even check your mail or a wiki page, or the weather forecast): it'd be insanely worse if I couldn't play a game I bought exactly to kill time when I'm home with time to kill, possibly with a faulty connection.
Even if the rate of faults went down in the future, there's no way I'll ever buy a game that requires online status. No way in hell. Also, unlikely as it seems, Blizzard may go bankrupt tomorrow and all the servers may go down. What happens to my right to play the game 20 years from now, assuming I'm still around? I do play games from 15+ years ago right now, so the scenario is not an absurd one.
Companies that go down this road will never win me as a customer. I may be "just one" lost customer, but I am an ASSUREDLY lost customer.
You don't have to be connected all the time to play. Are you guys crazy? All that happens if you're not connected all the time is that your achivements arent stored.
that deal is for usa/na only... as usual

Meh... the first one is better. And cheaper.
Amazon = no tax for most, retail copy with dvd, and free ship. Blizzard likely = tax, no retail copy, but you can download it immediately.
What tax?
People are talking about Diablo III where you will need to be online all the time, since it's a client-server game like in MMOs.

As for SCII, I wouldn't buy it anymore. It's single player is pretty bad (worst storyline in quite some time) and multiplayer is, for me at least, much more fun to watch then to play myself.
Well, I agree re: multiplayer. Couldn't disagree more re: the single player. I loved it and got a substantial amount of replay out of it going for unlocks and playing on higher difficulty.
Well the amount of modded maps that exist and everything from shitty FPS ro adventur games to their version of Dota to a version of Bejeweld extend its longevity quite alot. The biggest problems with the multiplayer is that it added very little new to Starcraft 2. Heck you might play SC 1 and enjoy it nearly as much. There are no unit formations, no turning of buildings etc. Its game mechanics are still stuck in the early 90's. But that's part of its charm to I guess. But it does also make the classic ladder mode extremely repetetive.I liked the multiplayer myself. I liked the story to even though it's your typical one-sides black and white story when i comes to the terran faction at least. The way they expanded on Kerrigan was brilliant I think but even that part has some plotholes. The campaign mode also has a small degree of replayability with different paths to take at a few locations and different ways to solve various missions Achievement-hunting ain't my thing but it's there to for those that like it.
About D3, yeah I'm not buying that at all. Looks a bit to flashy to.
