As most of us know, there are two main communities in Sins of a Solar Empire, one for multiplayer and one for modding. Bar the occasional group of friends playing a mod on ICO together however, these two communities rarely interact with each other, besides occasional discussions of game balance.
Therefore I propose a little icebreaker in the true Sins fashion, complete with the typical disintegration of metal, screams of nuked worlds, and if we're lucky even the rare space pony sighting, that we've all come to know and love, regardless of which form of Sins we get most of our entertainment from. Yes, I think its time for the first ever Pro Player vs Modders MP game!
Of course as we are meeting in the Pro player's home court, I think in the interest of a semi-interesting game the modders will need a team advantage of some sort. Any ideas on the exact number of players on each team as well as the best time to arrange this will be welcome (I'd guess sometime on Thanksgiving weekend). And of course, if you're interested do let us know.
I'd like to have one pro player sort of be in charge of the logistics of making the game who promises to be there, presumably if any of the other pros don't show we can find substitutes at the game launch. As modders don't often log on to ICO don't commit unless you're sure you can make it at whatever time we agree on. Also if possible I think it would be nice for as many different mods as possible to be represented, but obviously filling the roster comes first.

ALPHA CENTAURI...well I'll be, never thought anyone would bring that game up...
I do actually own the game though it is not currently installed (I'd have to go back home to get the CD most likely)...that is probably my favorite game of all time...
Thought about getting Star Ruler, may still...also may get Supreme Commander...
I do own StarDrive...it's still in it's alpha stage but the game looks like it has a lot of potential...
I think my list is Almost exactly the same... scary well, mostly.
I LOVE me some supcom FA!!!
And I'm decent at TF2, Warhamer 40k, and UT04
I actually made maps, chars and weapons for UT04, back in the day. I almost went pro gamer even with it... ah good times
I should get back on that teamspeak and get more games going with you guys
Believe or not Carbon I don't have any games on your very impressive list except minecraft. If anyone sees a deal on Forge Alliance though let me know, I should probably get the full SupCom experience on the PC instead of just the campaigns on the Xbox version.
Well my list isnt the master list now.
I know Steam has the Supreme Commander Gold, which is both for around 20ish bucks. GOG.com might have a good deal also.
About half of those F2P games are on Steam also. Im not sure who here is totally Anti-Steam.
Im on a serious budget this month and next month. So if anyone else has some great games that a dirt cheap or free to suggest please do!
As always these are just some games we can play outside of Sins. I know personaly my intrest now a days comes and goes with days. And we also have a really bad habit of start Sins game super late. lol
I hate for us not to hang out anymore over bad timing and what not. So my attempt to expand our horizons so we can during the week pick up a game or so of whatever and maybe just maybe grow our little group to a nice crowd
But then Seleuceia will get confused who's talking to him and who is not!
"Green is attacking you!"
"But...but I'm green!"
"Not you, Seleuceia...other green..."
If we are playing the same game then its ok buddy
If not then I guess we can segregate ourselfs in different channels The cool kids and non cool kids.

Its a Steamwork game. Not that its a surprise or a big deal.
So ... 18 hours until www.soadagame.com reveals their information ...
Going to playing some Titan Quest off and on today, the Hack and slash bug bit me.
20 bucks on Steam for those who may be intrested.
I know we kind of stopped doing things on Friday, but since we're probably going to be playing the beta anyways, may as well do so online.
I dont have the beta yet. Money prevents me currently.
I will be playing something though, and there are some serious storms rolling around. So far around 5 tornados i think here in the Mid-State...could be wrong Ive been dodging it as I drive from one side to other today.
Long story short, my internet might cut out so if we get invovled in anything prep your for me randomly going down for a while.
Goafan I've got the beta. I have it installed but haven't played yet. I'm planning on going through all the text and posting up a bug thread sometime this weekend. I'll be on in a bit tonight (or later, depends on who comes over for drinks!)
Well apparently the desyncs are back and IMO its not that great yet anyways, so I'd be perfectly fine with something else. Just waiting for WinCustomize the new version of E4X too if you wanted to see those new artifacts you were inquiring about.
Sounds good, I just did one playthrough and a minione just to see what the other subfaction had.
The big thing we'll have to worry about is the desync issue people keep talking about.
I would also like to test the LAN / Direct Connect features both with Steam active as well as in 'off-line' mode.
Also, where do I find the files for this game? I would like to try running the .exe without STEAM on at all (without clicking on the steam shortcut).
Boshimi, I'll try the lan connect with you if we can sync our times. PBhead and I played a Hamachi match briefly.
Just a heads up, if your not in the Steam Group and/or dont read those announcements.
Next week the TS server will be changing IP.
If you will need the new one, its in the announcement or just get a hold of me.
Ribbit, herr kommandant.
I will likely need the new info. Can GoaFan77 update the OP with that info?
Sorry for being absent last weekend I was out of town and ended up with a 12 hour layover in Detroit unexpectedly!!!
If you log onto Steam you would have it Boshi.
Probably ...
PSA:
The Not So Serious-Serious Internet Spaceships Event is this week(end)!
Warning and me are planning to gather as many peoples as we can to do some Serious but not serious Internet Spacehips, (AKA Eve Online)
We will be encouraging everyone to hope on a free trial at least (for those who want), learn a bit about the game and go do stuff, who cares what it is.
B-T-Dubs, this is super casual. by super I mean super. But we want to spread our casual Serious Internet Spaceship Biz to our fellow CPPFZ members (and non members, but yall so should be members by you know just hanging out. Just saying)!
If your interest in the least bit let either me or Warning know. We will be handing out as many extended trials as we can!!
I would be sorry you finally had to give in and play it with him Carbon, but I think those letters were a bit too much for a forum post. I just got done with TOR trial as it is, but I maybe interested if I somehow find the time.
