Hi,
Installed WindowBlinds 7.3 final and it's doing that no skinning thing again when I reboot. It's random, sometimes it runs at startup sometimes it does not. I have auto restart disabled like tech support said but it's still happening. The last beta was working flawlessly. I may go back to it.
Also since I installed 7.3 it broke both my Cursor Control Panel and my IconPackager browser. They both lock up minutes after starting them. They work fine with WB removed.
Anyone else having issues?
Which OS are you on?
Can everyone who reports an issue please state which OS they are using as without this we cannot investigate your issues.
How you installed may also be important (standalone installer clean, standalone over previous Impulse, Impulse update etc)
Neil, looks like a possibly related problem?

Actually I went to the Stardock Store and to my account so I could do a fresh install, as I was using the beta, and all that is there now to download is the new version.
@Neil Banfield
So sorry I usually remember this stuff. I use Windows 7 SP1 x64 I use Norton 360, but had no problem with the beta and Norton, plus I set Norton to basically ignore WB as much as it can. I also have Malwarebytes running but again never had a problem with it before. I even tried turning it off for a while, no luck.
I did a clean install. Uninstalled the beta, rebooted, ran zapper, it found no traces or WindowBlinds. Went to the Stardock store and downloaded the only version listed, the latest 7.3. Installed flawlessly, activated on and applied the first theme OK. Then rebooted and all hell broke loose.
I tried a few different things, I removed all my custom themes, Uninstalled again, did the Zapper this again and it found nothing, checked my system over and over for any signs of WindowBlinds, to be sure it was fully off the machine and I would get a true clean install. I reinstalled as before applied the first theme, rebooted and it started all over again.
I have the ODT Cursor program and IconPackager installed and Office 2010. Office runs fine. I tried adding all those to the excluded file list but it did not help.
Weird, just not sure what to do, should I go back to the beta or try to troubleshoot this. I am willing to work with you in any way.
Thanks,
dev
Windows 7Pro SP1 x32, after installation thru Impulse, got the Windows Classic skin. Thought maybe because of Bitdefender, so I uninstalled thru Impulse and tried thru the store with Bitdefender off. "Windowblinds appears not to be installed correctly. Do you wish to repair?" answered yes, and nothing much appeared to happen. Same problem existed so I tried uninstalling with the zapper. Shut down prematurely and had to Revo it. Tried reinstalling this morning, but same Windows Classic thing occurred. At this point, waiting for support to respond (rebooted each of the installations mentioned here, btw).
No problems on W7 Home Premium x64. Installed through Impulse.
The only problem I had with 7.3 was it could/ would not install via Impulse something about could not archive the files.
I downloaded from my store account and installed with no problems every thing running smooth on my laptop and Primary system
Folks, if you are having any issues it is very helpful if you post detailed information so we may investigate.
If it's a visual error, then a screenshot would be needed.
Otherwise, please list what OS you are using, where did you install from, etc.
I'm having numerous problems also after installing on a Win7 64 OS. The first time I used Impulse to update but after reinstalling a system image I used the stand alone installer, same thing both times.
Both IE9 and Firefox are screwed up, Robomform crashes and I'm getting constant error reports from Norton. Everything runs slow in general. Currently I have WB uninstalled and it's usable. I can't get Impulse to restore any backed up archives, they are on a different drive than the system since I use an SSD and need to conserve space. I've tried system restore (same problems) I've restored from an Acronis image (same deal). Whatever was in this update puts it's hooks in mighty deep.
I don't want to wipe the drive and start over if I could just remove all the update remnants and get an archive to work I would be a happy camper.
Yes I have contacted Stardock support.
Using WB 7.2 with "Autumn Arrival 7" by jazzymjr with no issues.
Updated to WB 7.3 using Impulse, then reboot.
Upon login, greeted with dialog box: Access violation at address 66019CE9 in module 'WBLIND.dll. Read of address 42E4B003.
Try to run WB Config, but no window. Program Manager shows SevenConfig start then immediately exit.
Unload WB through system tray icon.
Start WB Config and select older WB "Autumn Arrival" by jazzymjr with no issues. WB Config starts and stops as expected.
Reboot has no dialog box error.
Reselect "Autumn Arrival 7" by jazzymjr and WB Config again will not show. Reboot again triggers dialog box error.
There were no issues with jazzymjr's wonderful "Autumn Arrival 7" running under WB 7.2, but apparently something in this WB does not agree with WB 7.3. I tried a couple of the other newer WBs, but was unable to provoke this issue.

This appears to be because the skin has a glyph defined for the web horizontal scrollbar section but no such image exists.
The next WB update will resolve this problem.
Which skin is that?
It looks like there may have been a mistake in the UIS for that skin and WB is now exposing it.
I have spotted two mistakes in the UIS file.
1) The right hand side item mouseover image for the startmenu is a TGA and has transparency BUT has this image uses transparency unticked.
2) The All programs mouseover image has the alpha channel in this image is premultiplied ticked in error.
There have been changes to how WB processes tga files on image load in order to handle Windows 8 changes and this means mistakes like this may start to show problems even though they seemed to work fine before.
Thank you Neil
Seems like a good place to ask about .uis files in WB7, since I'm new to it. When I open cideral.uis in Notepad, there is almost nothing there - only 4-5 sections. Is the code split into more than one file in WB7 skins or does that mean that the skin is basically Aero & Cideral only changes a few graphics?
Correct. UIS0 skins like that one have very limited skin control.
UIS2/PerPixel skins have full skin control and have many more sections.
Check. Thanks, Neil.
just a side comment;
occasionally when painting from SKS (applying the skin) the uis2 and maximum pp frames do not paint. I can repaint them and they usually will then.
I put a trouble ticket on this some time ago but nothing ever came of it. I did get an email asking if the problem had corrected itself but since there were no updates, it obviously couldn't have done so.
edit: here's a picture
Well it must be my eyes because I can't see the grid in your pic either. I have a type of color blindness that can overwhelm one color when it's surrounded by a large area of another. So if the grid line in the sheet (as opposed to the headers) is pale blue I might not see it. But I'm pretty sure I used to be able to so I'll fiddle with system colors.
I've seen those type of pixel errors before the upgrade so I assumed they were skin specific. Maybe asmall error in the skin design has been exposed by the new WB. If you find out a setting in the blind that's causing it post it here so skinners and users can apply the change to their blinds.
Well I've discovered my problem. Some others might find this interesting. I did a system restore before this tuesdays MS Update. System worked perfectly. I dl'd WB 7.3 and Theme Mgr. from Stardock the system worked perfectly. Unfortunately I forgot to turn off the MS auto update and the system updated and the problems I had previously are back! (System runs slower, menus are all off center to the left, IP popping off ((crashs)) skinstudio too, Word2010 parts skin or don't) The problem lies within the MS Update field of 10 or more updates. IE 9 or Explorer updates or a security update I don't know. I'm doing a full restore again and until the problem is resolved I won't be auto updating again. I'll select the updates one by one as I used to do just in case this barf should ever happen again. It's a pain in the ass but, so is a complete system restore. There. Said and don. Over and Out.
Raspberries to All and to All a good day or night wither you are!

Have to restart the operating system every time after applying a new theme before it will apply correctly
Never had problem with all previous releases of windowblinds going back to v.5
