Hi,
Installed WindowBlinds 7.3 final and it's doing that no skinning thing again when I reboot. It's random, sometimes it runs at startup sometimes it does not. I have auto restart disabled like tech support said but it's still happening. The last beta was working flawlessly. I may go back to it.
Also since I installed 7.3 it broke both my Cursor Control Panel and my IconPackager browser. They both lock up minutes after starting them. They work fine with WB removed.
Anyone else having issues?
It has auto started for me but even with skinning turned off for Excel 2010 it has still rendered the grid lines invisible. I had turned it off when I upgraded from 2007 to 2010 because of this problem but with the prior version of WB telling it to ignore Excel fixed it. No longer. Ignore is also not working for cmd.exe.
I also installed WB7.3 and system is running slower. The IE9 favorites menus are all off center and don't skin properly. Iconpackager is also acting up and locking up. Windows explorer is also crashing mostly on startup. If I could go back to the previous version I would. Hello....Stardock......Frogboy.....? I must say this is very unusual for WindowBlinds. Before and after crashing Explorer gives the error message of PDhooks or something like that.
Have not put it on Vista or Win7 yet, but XP is working great with 7.3, no issues at all using the store download version.
Oct 13, 2011: Updated Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and Windows 7 Ultimate x64 today, no issues at all on either OS.
No issues here. Running on win 7 home prem 64
Really bad timing for me. Icon Packager refused to open and Office 10 was a mess. Had to do a system restore and now have to redo all of the critical updates I installed earlier today. I knew I should put the WB install off until tomorrow but I didn't and now I have to pay the price. Too bad it was released on the same day as MS critical updates.
I have the update on 2 machines, so far so good both machines run W7 64 Bit
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and I downloaded the update from the Store site. I don't have Office so I can not speak to those problems but everything else is running just fine. It sounds like for some reason that some of you have gotten bad downloads. Only thing to suggest is uninstall WindowBlinds (after setting to default) run CCleaner or a similiar program and reboot. Even if you have never had a problem downloading updates before you might try turning off your anit-virus and security software and then reinstall WindowBlinds.
Hopefully you get a good download.
Updated via Impulse. Much quicker than the Stardock Store download which is 65 MB.
Ditto. Hey BDBF!! Long time no see.
Question? Do all of you that say it is fine have IconPackager and have you tried to open it since the update?
Icon Packager is fine and so is Office 10.
I'm also seeing a Windows Explorer (almost) crash. It hangs and if I click on it I get the Vista white screen but eventually it comes back. While it's paused nothing works including ctrl-alt-delete.
To RedneckDude, can you see the grid lines in Excel?
Yup, all is as it should be.
If you've been downloading the installers from the Stardock Store, your previous versions are still there - just uninstall WB & run the older/previous installer - shouldn't need System Restore. I realize that's a big if, though.
I experience pixel-errors on some random parts after the update. Skinstudio did not work properly either. I uninstallled both WB 7.3 AND Sks, did a CC-Cleaner, Regfix and a restart but I still experience pixel-errors & color rendering issues on some random parts after the update.
Updated through Impulse.
Applied the Win8 Metro (Style) on my Win 7 pro x64 system.
Under Windows Update the menu at the left hand side (where you click check for updates/change settings etc. etc.), the text is hardly visible.
How do you make it darker as i've tried changing the colours in WindowsBlinds 7 Configuration for the Win8 Metro skin but nothing works?
Unfortunately another product release that doesn't seem to work correctly???
No problems here on 7.
Josh.

Wasn't clear - I meant they're on your system somewhere if you downloaded them. You're right about what's listed in the Store - before I downloaded 7.3, both 7.0 & 7.3 were listed, now only 7.3 is there.
PDhooks is not one of the Stardock files and neither is it a Windows Explorer dll.
It sounds like you have installed something which is not compatible with WB.
What do you mean by off center? I think a screenshot would help here.
Running Win7 Pro 64 bit. Not seeing any issues, working fine. I don't have Icon Packager as I don't use it nor do I have Excel or Office. I use Libre Office which used to be Open Office. Explorer is Explorer. That crashes from time to time but it always did and comes right back after a few seconds. I know what causes that and it has nothing to do with WindowBlinds.
This would be the vista part colours. In particular the control panel ones.
I understand a couple of colour related issues were spotted with this skin and there will be an update to it soon.
One thing I should mention is the Metro skin may make Office 2007 look a little unusual as it detects it as a high contrast theme and so alters its own UI elements into a high contrast look too. This is a bug in Office not WB.
Could you be a little more specific with perhaps screenshots of the problems.
I should point out that SkinStudio was not modified in this update and the update would have had no impact on how it works.
If you do encounter a problem with a skin does a reapply of the skin resolve it?
Which OS are you on?
I do not believe ignore has never worked on cmd.exe and never will do due to an oddity with that process.
If you continue to have problems with an app having excluded it I suspect the problem is not with WB itself but either the system colours or system fonts applied by the currently in use skin. These are global and excluding an application never has (and never will) exclude them from these.
I assume you are trying more than one skin as I could imagine the system colours in say the Metro skin potentially making the lines invisible.
