How's it workin for ya 3 years later?
Anyone better off?... that's a good one !
here's the good news.. Nov. 2012 isn't so far off... and I for one will look back on the 4 lost years of my life, and realize..
....I can finally breath again.
So... lastly, I am willing to go out on a limb, and a year ahead, predict.. , no, guarantee... a massive conservative victory...
......If I'm wrong... I'm sure a few of you will be back to remind me I posted this.
The Free Market will reign again.
Hope and change.. is.. coming.
Easiest one of all, massive regulatory increases, uncertainty regarding Obamacare requirments and tax codes and the inability and reluctance of the banks to lend.
No one is hiring, because no one knows what is coming down the pipeline from Obama.
The biggest killer of jobs and the economy, is UNCERTAINTY
What is sad is they know it, everyone knows it and they do nothing. They want people unemployed and under-employed.. so that everyone has to rely on , you guessed it..... the G O V T.
Call it what u want, socialism, marxism, communism, whatever you want to call it..
IT DOES NOT WORK. It will always fail. Time and again, history proves this to us. lets hope, this time, the entire concept is buried.
Chris Christie said it perfectly last night..
'Now, seven years later, President Obama prepares to divide our nation to achieve re-election. This is not a leadership style, this is a re-election strategy. Telling those who are scared and struggling that the only way their lives can get better is to diminish the success of others. Trying to cynically convince those who are suffering that the American economic pie is no longer a growing one that can provide more prosperity for all who work hard. Insisting that we must tax and take and demonize those who have already achieved the American Dream. That may turn out to be a good re-election strategy for President Obama, but is a demoralizing message for America'
If Christie doesn't run... he damn well should have.
How about blueblue? ?
I have, those statistics are based on the condition of the economy when Obama took office and what was attempted to get the economy back on track. Are all of his decisions good ones, NO. But he is working without the republican's help/cooperation. Clinton's screw up with letting the market regulate it self took 10 years before the disaster became apparent. Time goes slow in DC, those stats and the end of the Clinton/Bush eras is a part of the overall picture that effects us all today.
I'm on the other side of the fence (duh) here. I don't see how anyone can support a political party that represents only 2% of the population.
Im not in that 2% top tier, but they represent me, just fine.
Less Spending, Smaller Govt, and unleash the American entrepreneurial spirit.
None.. of which Obama has done.
Greg, I wonder if you even realize, every post, you have blamed someone else.
It's a tried and true liberal stipend... when you have nothing left to stand on... blame someone else.
People are waking up, people are taking notice, hell, how can one not?
Neither Obama, or any Dem. will be re-elected in 12, the writing is on the wall and the ship is sinking fast.
wow, the republicans have doing this for a much longer time with issues such as abortion.
the jobs are being moved overseas where cheap labor and unsafe wroking conditions are the norm. Guess where the ipad, iphone, GE jet engines and other such items are being manufacturered. not only selling out the American worker but giving away advanced technology.
Greg, Tell me why you would pull the lever for Obama over lets say.. Herman Cain?
whoa, I didn't have anything to do with the mess that we're in.
I said that not all of Obama's actions have been good ones, includes lacking a spine. I blamed Clinton for allowing the financial market to regulate itself which set up the mortgage crisis. I do blame the republicans and the democrats for not playing nice together and I blame Bush for spending money without refilling the coffers.
AND, I don't see you taking any responsibility for the actions of your party, it's all been Obama's fault. (pot calling the kettle black here?)
Sure I did..
and I thought u were reading every word
There is lots of blame to go around, we all know that, I won't argue that at all... but this President is in office NOW.
Fortunately for not much longer. (I predict)
The longer the status quo remains unchanged, the more Obama supporters with buyers remorse will come around to the fact that.. it just did not work.
the pizza guy, the guy who stated that Obama should be impeached. He's funny, but not a serious contender. I don't think that he has the depth or the understanding to be President. I pulling the lever for Obama because the republican ideology of nay saying at the expense of the American people offends me. We need to have a balanced government to keep each party and branch of government in check. I want them to do what is right for you and me regardless, that means working together and compromise. When we have politicians doing what is right without regard to special interests then I might think differently.
..and a freshman Senator \ Community organizer did?
Dems can give many reasons not to support someone like Herman Cain.. just don't use depth, understanding, lack of experience etc
Don't underestimate Herman Cain.
gosh those blinders do get in the way, don't they.
Heading out for a meeting, I hope to return to a myriad of Obama era success stories!
Peace !
I believe they support the 50% of us that carry the other 50%.....but I'm Tea Party and I'll vote for anyone who can eliminate pork barrel politics, fix the abuse of food stamps, welfare & medicare & medicaid.
I also realize there's a fairly large group that WILL vote to protect their Zer0bama money.
I'm hoping that the majority of people vote to as they say 'Right the Ship' and bring back America to what it once was. Of course that would mean both the Democrats and Republicans lose.
Oh, wait a minute, that would take a third political party. Never mind. Two is bad enough.
Change cannot be effected in this country in a mere 3.5 years. It is impossible when anyone who is President, be they Democrat or Republican, has to put up with a bunch of ignoramuses in the Senate, Congress and other key positions who could care less about this country as long as they get their massive paychecks. Just not possible. Any change made today that could improve this country's current status would take at least 8-12 years before anything viable could be seen IMO. Maybe we should make Jimmy Buffet president, at least he said he wants to pay his fair share of taxes. The rich in this country and those in their back pockets in government could effect change, they are just not willing to do it of course. We are basically fighting a losing battle.
But keep up the rhetoric folks, it makes for interesting reading at least!
I like the fact that people have perked up a bit around here. It was getting too quiet.
I think people are so polarized they've forgotten that there's no "black or white" no 100% right and 100% wrong.
I also think people have forgotten how to compromise, work and live together constructively.
Well, either we'll learn to put Nation and the greater good before any other concern or we'll all end up on the garbage heap of history as a colossal fail.
Okay John, I took a look at his bio and I retract the lack of depth or experience in comparison to Obama. Two reasons I would not vote for him, or any other candidate, are 1) he's a minister and I don't think that works for me and 2) his stance on abortion. He believes that abortion is only okay when the mother's life is in danger. I believe that rape and incest are pretty good reasons as well. I also believe that it is a woman's choice and even though the reasons may not be good ones, that is between her and the Maker.
well said Tom.
sorry to hear about you affiliation, hopefully it will pass. I can agree with you regarding abuse and fraud, and we draw the line where. Do you believe in means testing for benefits?
I vote for people not parties and usually split a ticket. This is all I have to say is it is fun reading this thread but here is my thoughts. True there are many more not in my shoes than there are like me. As a retired person on SS I know no more then you all do from news and reading.
It really doesn't matter if I like Obama or not or think the world is going the right way. Hell we all know it isn't but saying that how could I vote for the Republican party when they want to slash Social Security and at lease Obama always says no to doing that. There is still over a year pefore a vote is needed so I will listen and see at least who sounds like they will try and protect me.
I know many of you aren't where I am in life and from my heart I do feel sorry for what will most likely not be available to you. However I can't afford to lose what I have in the way of SS. To my real thinking I don't know if there will ever be a right person for any of the Gov. jobs anymore.
For the record for anyone to throw Herman Cain into this mix must be looking for anyone but Obama as clearly there are better people then him available. He is a Pizza guy with all the BS needed.
Thought I'd pass along some advice my broker gave me today.I called my stockbroker this morning & asked him what I should be investing in as I feel interest rates are going to be rising as they did during the late 70's early 80's. So I told him I thought we ought to be looking to getting out of bonds & looking for a safe haven to invest. Should we move to precious metals, foreign currency or what? This is what he said: "If Obama is in office much longer, canned goods, water and ammunition are your best bet."
Gary Johnson in 2012!
On the subject of pork, here's the figures reported for 2010 from the CAGW (Citizens Against Government Waste) website.
$5,048,602,943.00 Democrat
$2,639,932,600.00 Repulican
$2,357,889,025.00 By Multiple parties
$13,549,180.00 Independent
There was also 81 anonymous earmarks worth $6.5 billion with no identifiable requester.
Yep, that hope and change is really working.
If I have to choose between one or the other, I'll take hope.
I've had enough change, thank you.
Just wanted to let you know, I received my 2011 Social Security Stimulus package today. It contained two tomato plants, cornbread mix, a prayer rug and 10 coupons to Mickey D's. The directions were in Spanish and lot of other languages everything but English. You also get free round of Golf on a public course with a copay of 20.00 dollarsHope you get yours soon.
Good stuff folks, keep it coming, vent, rationalize, support, tear down, it's all part of a very important public debate that is needed in this country.
Dave, I threw Cain into the mix, .. because he is not.. a politician, he was a very successful businessman, and job creator, not just a pizza guy, He won the Florida straw poll, and really the only one talking 'straight' to this country... lastly he is far and away the best platform speaker of the lot of them... except perhaps Newt.
I'm not saying He's my choice, but If i had to choose between him and BarryO, Its not even close.
3 and a half years is plenty of time to change this country, just look at the past..... 3 and a half.
this is an interesting youtube for Elizabeth Warren in which she discusses why the wealthy should pay more.
