This is is required for SoGE to work, or else it will not function correctly. This will not interfere with your ability play with other people (i.e. a person without an LAA exe can play with someone who has an LAA exe), nor does it break any rules set out by Stardock or Steam.Step by step instructions:1) Open "Large Address Aware.exe".2) Select "Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion.exe" to modify (click on the "..." button to browse). It can be found in the following folder:...\Steam\steamapps\common\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion3) Check the box specifying that you want to make the game large address aware.4) Click on save to save the changes.Full credit for this program goes to FordGT90Concept of http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/(See here for a more detailed walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hquH8iZXik or: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/381382/page/1/ )To activate the mod, open the EnabledMods.txt file present in the previously mentioned folder and edit the file like so (this can be copy-pasted in):TXTVersion 0enabledModNameCount 1enabledModName "SoGE 4.10.0"The blank line must be present in order for the game to read the EnabledMods.txt file correctly. An editted version of EnabledMods.txt has been provided with the mod; these instructions are here in the event that the provided file is lost. The mod should be working fine if the only races you can select are Star Wars races. If this is not the case you have not properly installed the mod in your mods folder.DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE INGAME MODS OPTION PAGE TO ENABLE THE MOD, THIS OFTEN RESULTS IN A CRASH AND IS KNOWN TO CAUSE INSTABILITY.ADDON INSTALLATION=============================================SoGE also has several addons available for it, which introduce various changes to the mod. Included in the main download is the "Squad Size Reduction" addon, which condenses all fighter squadrons into having a single super fighter and edits anti-fighter abilities to reflect that change. This addon was created primarily to reduce lag, for both singleplayer and multiplayer matches. To install an addon, one must once again edit EnabledMods.txt, and place the addon above the main mod in the list like so:TXTVersion 0enabledModNameCount 2enabledModName "SoGE Addon - Squad Size Reduction"enabledModName "SoGE 4.10.0"TEAM=============================================Lavo (Ship stats, abilities, tech tree work, rigging, interface icons)Warb_Null (Models, textures)Maxloef (Models, textures, particles, sounds, skyboxes)starkiller623 (Maps)Service_Disconnect (Interface icons)Wawac (Interface icons)mmeier1986 (Error/bug fixing)Chimaera (Ship stats)Many many beta testers, many who didn't do a thing, thanks to those that give us valuable feedback!INACTIVE STAFF=============================================Evillejedi (Models, textures, ship stats)NovaCameron (Planets; models, textures, and stats)Psychoak (Abilities and tons of debugging [1.0E would have taken another year without his help])Ludo Kreesh (SW Music, UI, interface icons)Zoommooz (Tech tree additions/editting)Evaders (Swrebellion.com Web support and general debugging)sloosecannon (Coding, general debugging)Ozwolf (Interface icons)Pedro (SW Music)CREDITS=============================================GoaFan77 (Modeling, texture, and ability assistance, mainview icons, and other insight)Burntstrobe (All planet textures in the mod, save for the Acid, Rusty, and Gas Giant planets)myfist0 (Modeling and texture assistance and other insight)RC-1290 'Dreadnaught' (Shield impact shader, bloom/star shaders)Snowba11 (Most of the premade maps)Mick666 (Re-scaling of most premade maps, creating and contributing to the SoGE wiki)Arvis Taljik (Praetor, Malevolence, and other, textures)NomeMD (Sentinel model and icons)Republic at War team (Rusty planet's original texture)ERock72 (Providence hanger shield particle)Nomada_Firefox (Created the Endurance's mesh from EJ's Nebula SD)the50first (Getting IA2/RaW's Malevolence's textures to work in SoGE)KrdaxDrkrun (A number of particles in this mod originate from his mod TotalEffects)axeldude (Planet.fx)Egosoft (Skybox textures)Cole_Protocol (Assault Frigate Mk.II's cloaking particle)ZombiesRus5, harpo99999, soviet.belldandy (Various tools and code repositories which helped speed things up alot)Valpheus (Experimental Exhaust Colour Mod; removing team colors from exhaust)MrPhildevil (Interface icons)husker98 (A few maps built off of Snowba11's large galaxy map)Drone04 (Mon Calamari Heavy Carrier, Rejuvinator's original concept art)AdamKop (Rothana Battleship's original render)Valpheus (Vasari Deep Voice mod)dolynick, Uzii (dolynick's Galaxy Mod was integrated at one point in time, some remnants are still around)Probably some other people we are missing, thanks.CONTACT=============================================Forum http://www.moddb.com/mods/sins-of-a-galactic-empire/forumModdb page http://www.moddb.com/mods/sins-of-a-galactic-empireNexusMods page http://www.nexusmods.com/sinsofasolarempire/mods/5/Steam community page http://steamcommunity.com/groups/soageSins forum https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/411648Wiki http://sins-of-a-galactic-empire.wikia.comIRC #SoGE @ irc.coldfront.netCOMPATIBILITY=============================================Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion 1.82+

Aha, you were completely right it was pagefile related, turned out I had moved it to another partition and for some reason it was downsized. Did previously use LAA, think in this case it did sod all. Think it only really proved useful for Dip and a few other games.
When it comes to Rebellion, enabling the paging file and using LAA, when the partition Rebellion is on lacks a paging file, does the same thing in the end. I know some of our beta testers, those that have Rebellion on an SSD, have used LAA to fix the CTD "issue", as enabling a paging file would take up too much space.
Hey Lavo, is there something wrong with the swrebellion site, or did I do something wrong?
SW rebellion was saying that I was banned, but is working now, disregard post.
Yeah, something was up with it, Evaders seemed to have sorted it out.
Hey just checked out the mod 955 with 956 patch. Its great! that is when I can get it to work. Maybe I'm the only one with this prob but it only loads when I think Vong is disabled. Some of the maps cause a mini dump, and ultimately when I am
able to play a map I inevitably get a mini dump. Been playing around with it a couple days now and its consistent. Any ideas? I've downloaded from Moddb only, and done it twice. the way its packaged from these Stardock forums the links are messed up for me. Anyone else having problems? I know my load order and mod enabling is right because I fllowed install instructions and I have gotten it to work, for awhile anyway. PLEASE HELP!
btw have not signed up for the beta so if thats a more stable build Id be happy to just wait, its worth waiting for!! Thanks
The mod is pretty stable as it is. Sounds like you have some memory issues, and the Vong should not be crashing your game.
You think so? Well I know its a memory dump, but I'm currently playing Requiem for Rebellion and 7DS for entrenchment,
and have yet to have a mini dump. I've gotten to where I can play a map now with the latest patch, but after half an hour
of game time I get a dump. and certain maps won't load without a dump, like the 550 planets map. In fact last night 2 times I didnt get a mini dump, the game just crashed to desktop with no popup windows. Just stopped running.
I have 8gb of ram
680 nvidea x1
gigabyte rig
win 7 64bit
Your RAM is absolutely irrelevant. From the what you said, it's extremely evident you are having RAM issues, specifically that the game cannot use the full 2 GB it is supposed to be able to. To copy/paste an answer from elsewhere:
This CTD issue is known; there's two causes for it. One is, assuming you are on Windows, that the partition/hard drive you are running Sins off of lacks a paging file, which ensures that Sins cannot use up to 2 GB of RAM, as it should be. The solution to this is to enable a paging file, or use Large Address Aware on Sins' exe, though the latter method is not recommended and doesn't always do the trick; some testers have reported that LAA didn't do the job when a paging file did. The second is that you are loading the mod with every single race; if you are not using all six races, don't load all six of them, as this uses up notably more RAM than necessary.
10-4 I think I can do something about this. Thank you for the detailed reply
Lavo_2, the gravity well buff on ships from the Empire's gravity well structure aren't staying constantly applied. It appears to still function properly, but it is annoying to see the buff turn on and off every half-second or so.
I'm aware; it occurs with multiple gravity well abilities. Unfortunately I'm not entirely sure how to fix that, buffs not being my area of expertise. Edit: Well, scratch that, looked at the buff files and I seemed to have axed what was causing this constant flashing.
WOW, sad to report that i just had to give myself a super-leaping-facepalm, been playing the rebellion release since it came out and just figured out that the supercaps aren't broken, they're just bought alittle differently.....
I've played the mod for about 20 hours, thoroughly enjoyed it.
No minidumps or crashes.
A few things that were strange:
The imperial supercap structure is supposed to autospawn an executor but once it does, nothing physical seems to appear. In the supply screen there is clearly something eating a ton of supply but it's a String not found.
When trying to build any of the bigger supercaps I get the message I need to research the "for the AI" project. I modded this so I can build them but am I right to asume that the bigger supercaps are disabled for Human players because of OP issues?
After playing for about 4 hours on a map, the AI (new republic) decided to spam Defenders. This somehow caused a massive freeze to occur every 6 seconds or so and could take up to 6 seconds as well. This wouldn't stop untill the 150+ Defender fleet was destroyed and would start over once the AI got to building them again. Didn't see any capitals after destroying the first wave, even thought the AI had a large income (I disabled the income modifier that comes with supply research)
You may want to consider there is something else causing minidumps other than memory issues. We have a group of 5 who play sins usually every tuesday night last week Oct 23 we gave this mod a try and it worked and at the time we had all mods loaded with no problems. Not a single minidump game played flawlessly.
This week we loaded up the mod and couldn't get it to work no matter what we tried we removed some races then we removed all but the core mod and tried that. Once that didn't work we broke out into a couple groups of 2 and tried to start a game up thinking it might have been one of us that was causing the problem on our own. Both pairs minidumped.
We then looked at using a standard map instead of one of the randoms. Same thing would happen we would hit start game go to the loading screen and before the status bar moved at all we would mini-dump.
These machines have the same configuration as last weeks so if it was a paging file problem then why wouldn't it be replicated again. There are no commonalities between the 5 machines they are running XP, 7, and Windows 8.
Yes, the supercap does not "build" instantly; it takes time. That string not found ship is a place holder until the real supercap is built.
Unfortunately there isn't anything that can be done for this; it's an engine issue. The AI just likes to spam some ships, and siege frigates, such as the NR's Defender, are a favorite of the AI.
I can't say I really know of any reason for a dump besides memory issues; primarily as since I personally enabled a paging file I have not had a single dump/CTD except when I'm screwing around with abilities and ships, and I basically crash the game doing so.
This sounds really, really weird. I've never heard of anything like this, where the game works one time and then crashes a week later. When exactly did it crash, on boot or during an MP game? Further, was this MP game played on a LAN connect, or on ICO? If it's on ICO; then that might be the issue as many have been reporting issues with that service recently. I'd appreciate more details on what you were doing, like the game type, victory conditions, playing the beta or public download (with/without patch), LAN or ICO, etc. I'll try to help you out the best I can.
happened to me. sometimes it still does
will go back and give it another shot will reinstall mod to give clean try and will check the paging file.
is it possible to reupload the entire collection into a new site all the links are broken.
My game keeps CTDing randomly no matter what faction I play. I disabled 2 of the factions to see if that would help, but I still crash. I'm using the newest version of the mod + patch and rebellion. The drive that I'm using is using a system managed paging file. So, I'm at a loss at what to do next.
Same idea. Wanted to try the Mod and most links here are dead. But after a little searching I found this source for an easy download
http://www.moddb.com/mods/sins-of-a-galactic-empire
Click the moddb button in the OP. As noted, the slew of links there are merely a backup mirror for the main moddb download.
All I can say is to double check the drive that Sins is on, which is not necessarily your boot (C:) drive, has a paging file. Other than that I'm at a loss as well, unless your computer has less than 2 GB of RAM, which I doubt.
I am having the same problem, and I am only running New Republic, Vong and CORE, and it is crashing before the games starts. I was playing on the Galaxy FFA map. I before the update I could run all races on that map just fine.
What update are you referring to? And by "before the game starts", do you mean while loading the large map (which I assume is the 551 planet Star Wars map), or while Sins boots up?
I checked and sins is on my C drive since steam installs all of my games there. And as for memory I have 16 GB of ram. Could be something not memory related but oh well. The mod is great though.
Well FYI this is the first time I've tried this mod for Rebellion. Just downloaded full release 955 and patch 956 from moddb. Used the given enabledmods.txt but took out the Republic and CIS, reduced the count by two. Mod loaded fine but minidumped on start of a Medium Large Random map with 2 Empire, 2 Vong, 1 New Republic and 1 Rebel.
This was in the Dev.exe and at first I got a ton of map related warning messages when first loading the mod. Got impatient and quit, turned errors off and continued with the above result.
Edit: Same thing with all 6 enabled. Let me try a different map...
Edit2: Small Random worked. Maybe I was hitting the RAM limit, hard to say.
