One of the three focuses for Fallen Enchantress is Magic. We want the spells to be unique, to feel like casters with enough mana can change the world. We want magic to fill the game, all the sovereigns start with spells though some like Procipinee are better spell casters than Verga. As in Master of Magic you can choose your sovereigns proficiency with the various magic types when you create them.
I’ve attached a PDF of the spells with this post. It includes the normal spells the player can cast, it doesn’t include spell abilities of creatures, spell like abilities granted by equipment and some other special abilities in the game.
I’d like to give a special thanks both to Unacomn for suggesting the Shadow World spell and NuclearNeumann for suggesting the Blood Curse spell. They are fun spells to play with.

I Removed the spell PDF as it is almost a year old and woefully out of date. New spells have been added and even more are coming. check out out dev journal on spells here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ArdQVqLHsI&feature=youtu.be

More spells are coming.
The amazing art actually makes me feel both good and bad, because modded spells will have a hard time competing. LOL
Oh Derek, you tease!
Jon
You make it very hard not to get excited about FE! Thanks for listening to our concerns.
Oh you rascals.
Derek - how did you get a picture of my last family gathering? I farted in the pool and the outcome wasn't pleasant...
Doth spell must henceforth be named "Flatulence"
hahahahahahahahahaha!
Is that an AoE spell or can you target it at a single person/insolent fool?
OMG- Don't let Lord Xia near this spell or we're all doomed!
More Spells... Bravo
I've been casting Flatulence for years, no one has dies yet. They might have wanted to...but they lived.
There are fates worse than death!
I would like to see more tactical spells for each spell book along with a selection of Expert Spell Books such as Nature, Enchantment and Necromancy. Too often in WOM I was able to research all the spells = boring. A wider selection of spells would also make combat less predicatable.
Suggestions for new spells for the Core Spell Books
Example: Fire - https://forums.elementalgame.com/410931
Example: Air - https://forums.elementalgame.com/410836
Example: Earth Spells - https://forums.elementalgame.com/410654
Suggestions for Expert Spell Books
Example: Nature Book - https://forums.elementalgame.com/410914 . A book of spells focused on magic that affects/summons animals and plants.
Example: Enchanment Books - https://forums.elementalgame.com/410689 . A book of spells focused on controlling and confusing the enemy.
Example: Spider Book - https://forums.elementalgame.com/410687 - spells from the Spider book are only available to those that complete a quest and recover the spell book of a long dead (?) Channeller who was obsessed with controlling, summoning and mimicing giant spiders.
Example: Necromancy - spells from the book of Necromancy are available only to those that complete a quest and recover the spell book of a long dead channeller whom was focused on building an army of the undead. Requires knowledge of Death Magic Spell Book. A kingdom that recovers this spell books can deny a Wraith Sovereign access to this magic.
I am very very much in favour of the Arcane school. Ok - it doesn't have to be a school, maybe put it under generic - but I am immensely enjoying my large map-arcane arrow for 40 points of damage experience- and spell-blast for 23.
I very much like specialty/powerful shard dependent spells but I am also a huge fan of intelligence based spells. I think Mana blast would be a workable alternative if it was changed to do damage based on intelligence - not on the quickly depletable source that is Mana.
After all, you are using Mana-Blast if you've got a lot of mana, hence you're focused a lot on spells, hence you're using your mana a lot... hence the problem, because it gets weaker rather quickly - especially since the rate of mana regen in the game is slow by any measure; Especially so if you dare to have any ongoing spells.

Thank you Derek for listening to us. I believe I wrote down a few spells in this thread where you might find some good idea here and there. We all believe this game will be a great one to be remembered in the years to come. And if you include the Time Stop spell, you'll be my hero
ps: ok... a Slow Time spell with increasing upkeep - where you take 2 turns in a row while others take only 1 - could work fine as well! And I am sure you can come up with a cooler name for it...
I'm not usually one to request stuff from developers, but since the Beta was delayed could we get a new journal on the updated magic system please? I'm dying to know about the new spells and counter system. I understand that you don't want to advertise too much, but since several sites have already claimed that you have already released a full spell list you might want to correct them anyway.
Yeah, I'd love to see this, too. It would be really great to see the code from some of the new spells, too, so those of us who like to play around with things can get some idea as to how flexible the new code is going to be.
I doubt the spell system has been done yet, as it was worded in that thread there was a high uncertainty if it would be in the game.
I kinda assumed that the magic system was done because the beta would have been out if they hadn't delayed it in order to balance the game.
Great news. It nice to know that the developers are listening to the fans.
s are on me.
I have read this a few times, and I think it is a joke, but I am still confused. Heavenfall, what do you mean if you were being serious?
that's always good.
@Murteas
I was refering to the very specific part in the previous post.
In https://forums.elementalgame.com/413309 Frogboy says
Hence my conclusion that the spell system is not "done" yet, ie finalized.
Not what I heard.
