Tophat - i hope you will not a wait with your turn till thursday - having two provinces and one small army without castle does not give you many option, really ...
i am sorry to say but not even diplomacy will help you much at this moment ...
thanks Tophat
Those high fatigue spells are really designed to make use of communions or sabbaths (the blood-magic varient of communions). It's certainly possible to cast many of them without a communion by using gems and havin very high paths, but communions are generally the best bet, as they have a number of other useful effects.
A message from the Eagle Kings of Caelum:
The capital of Arcoscephale has fallen, and the last of its faithful have been put to the sword. The Eagle Kings of Mount Caelum are not resting on their laurels. Emisarries have been sent to former allies and enemies alike; the coming months will see a shift in the ruling orders. The forges of Caelum are turning out weapons and armours that shine with arcane power. The armies are being bolstered by creatures from beyond the veil. Forgotten magics of devestating power are being rediscovered. The machinery of war continues grinding ceaselessly onwards.
The Eagle Kings, from their thrones upon the very roof of the world, gaze beyond the mortal horizon and fix their eyes upon the new enemy. The ancient enemy. The world will tremble.
Maverni, you honourless dog. We had a NAP-3, which I offered you instead of crushing you when I had the opportunity. How do you repay me? By violating our NAP and attacking me without warning? You are almost dead anyway -- and not by my hand -- so I shall not waste too many words on you. Know this, however: there is a place in the C'Tissian Hell which is so cold that ones testicles shrivel so tight that one cannot move, much less copulate with pretty lizard-ladies. This Hell is reserved for oathbreakers like yourself. I will make sure that, after you are gone your lands will host no Maverni orphans, remnants of your ridiculous army -- nay, any orphans we find shall feed the bellies of our hogs. They are not fit to feed actual C'Tissians, but the hogs will enjoy their traitorous flesh. Leave this world now, scum, and don't let the celestial gates of Inconnu's Palace hit your treasonous ass on the way out.
(On a less in-character note, seriously, WTF dude?)
I have to look back good sir,but i believe if you count that 3 turns did indeed pass. Also i am fighting for my life in a crisis situation that you and your Allies of the time brought down upon my head. I hardly see you as the injured party. And its your sauromatica ally that has driven me from my lands, send a complaint to him.
NAP-3 is usually understood to mean that 3-turns notice must be given before attacking, not that it lasts for 3 turns (which I think is how you might have understood things).
For agreements, it is best to be as explicit as possible. Not everyone agrees how these things should be interpreted. An example:
Caelum has an NAP-3 with Arco. It is currently turn 25. Caelum decides to end the NAP-3. Does the 3 turns include turn 25 as the first turn? Is turn 26 the first turn? Can you issue attack orders on the third turn that will be executed on the fourth turn, or do you wait until the fourth turn to issue the orders? Depending on how it is interpreted, you could have a 3-turn difference on when it is okay to attack. That is why, when ending and NAP, it is good to explicitly say "attack orders can be given on turn X which will execute on turn X+1."
There can even be some disagreement on what constitutes an aggressive act. I think this is more of an issue if the official game rule is "NAP enforced" diplomacy.
You have misunderstood what was meant by NAP-3 apparently.
In any case, I have not once initiated any violence against your nation, other than defending myself when you declared war upon me a while ago, based on another misunderstanding that I thought we had rectified. Sauromatia's assault on you has nothing to do with me, and you may recall that I tried to stop it diplomatically. You would have none of this.
You are correct that I am not that much injured. It will take me one turn to recover the territory you stole from me. You cost me time and a few gold in PD, that's all, though both are precious to me right now. Meanwhile, your fight for your life is about to end as the forces of C'Tis will join with Sauromatia to ensure that Maverni scum are scourged from this world.
All that aside, Maverni, the game is waiting for you again. Would you mind taking your turn? Thanks.
Not true...you moved into an area i clearly said was in my sphere.
You spread like a plague irregardless of others, that is the game but don't claim and cry the innocent with me.
As regards not attacking, wrong you invaded provinces i was in and initiated combat. You even admitted in the thread earlier that i did not attack you.
Your alliance mates claimed to attack me in defense of C'tis sir...so how can it be construed that to be my fault as well?
As i see it you have given me nothing, while being the instigator of my demise. I'm not crying about it but actively doing my best to continue on. My advise, shutup and play. Don't quote me a rules lawyer or I'll remind you how useless it was for me when the sauromatica player attacked with no provocation less than 3 turns after agreeing to a common border.
Can you knock off the sarcasm about taking a turn as well bud? Depending on when i get it and where I am at I run it as soon as possible and many is the time I have been a fast turn around. Right now, friend there are many communications I need to have and I need to be at a computer where I have the game installed to do my turn. You loose 1 lousy province and start this nonsense?
I think it would be helpful if people did not confuse roleplaying anger with actual anger. I am not angry. To be honest, I do not think I would easily trust you were we to play with each other again, but I don't really care that much either. Just a game and all that. The reminder to send your turn in was not an attempt to rush you, but to remind you, because you were obviously online and able to post messages.
Untrue. I sent you a message telling you my intentions of taking a certain territory. You did not respond, and took the territory anyway. I reminded you of the message I had sent, informed you that you were in my land and graciously allowed you to remove your forces before I took it back from you. You then declared war on me, publicly, in this forum.
"Irregardless" is not an actual word. For butchering the Queen's English my lizard armies are going to invade you a second time. This shall not pass!
As for innocence, not sure what you mean. I am certainly guilty of expanding quickly, a strategy that served me well in the beginning of this game. I am innocent of all charges of aggression, however. There is no nation in this game that can accuse me of declaring war on them. I have thus far had three wars declared on me, by yourself, then by Abysia and then just this turn by Caelum. With all of my neighbours, including yourself, I have made every attempt to establish borders and maintain peace. You are the only one who did not meet me half-way, instead declaring war on me. I'm not upset about that, mind you, just stating the facts as I understand them.
You declared war on me. I therefore attacked you, taking back only the province I had intended to take, and then trying again -- successfully, or so I thought -- to establish borders with you and establish an NAP-3. I could have pressed on and taken more of your land, and it would have been well within my right to do so, given you declared war on me. While it is true that you did not attack me (at that time), your declaration of war was a pretty clear indicator of your intention to do so. I find it highly unusual for the victim of aggression to be accused of attacking the aggressor -- this is usually considered self-defense.
I'm actually not really sure on the timing of all this. I think Abysia declared war on me the same turn you did, so I doubt they attacked you because you attacked me. If anything, you declaring war on me probably helped him. If he did declare war on you because of this he did not communicate this to me at any time. Perhaps he can clear this up. I was actually under the impression that he was already at war with you prior to our little engagement. Not really sure.
Similarly, with Sauromatia, though I think he did honour our alliance and attack you, I also tried to get him to stop once you and I established peace. I am not really sure why this was not successful, but I don't think you can accuse me of not being an honest broker. Perhaps Sauromatia can provide more insight, dunno. For myself, I kind of gave up on trying to help you since communications were too muddled for my taste. It simply stopped being worth my while bothering to negotiate.
I gave you peace, rather than taking advantage of the war you declared on me. I also attempted to get you peace with Sauromatia (for my own reasons, I admit). Hardly the instigator of your demise.
Anyway, I don't really consider this a big deal. I will survive your attack. I just wish I had known your intentions earlier so I could take more of your land instead of letting Abysia and Sauromatia have all the fun.
*pops more corn*
Tophat - what ghostwes is trying to suggest with regard to speed of you turns: once you download a new turn, it should not take you more than 5 min to submit another one. So, since you are in position when not many choices can be done, and you have nothing to offer to conduct extensive/substantial diplomacy, it is not good if we have to wait for you to move your one army from one province to another ...
if you are that busy, however, let it be ...
* snuggles on sofa with 1/2 glass of wine, and lots of peanut M&Ms *
I have it on good authority that the Eagle Kings prefer Peanutbutter M&Ms, as they don't get too hard to chew on the frigid mountain tops.
I don't want to dogpile on Top, but I also find it a good rule of thumb to immediately submit my new turn if I was the final one to submit the last one.
I think our diplomacy issues this game stem from not explicitly defining any at the creation of the thread/game. That's something we'll definitly do next time
Also: who's been having terrible luck with province loss to random events? I've been hit by numerous ones, and have beaten back most of them, but I'm currently "hosting" the wandering heroes and a province which contains the results of a troll attack, and two barbarian hordes!
I can honestly say: " I would not trust you",if we ever played again. And I am not angry,I simply have not liked your attitude. The Abysia player, with his assassination attacks did me far more harm, yet to him I'd simply say well played. I have no problem with him and thank him for showing me the effectiveness of assassination and need for protecting commanders. I had wondered at the worth of the "guard commander order",well Abysia showed me why its there.
And frankly in the time its taken me to come home, read through all this tripe, feel the need to respond yet just not care enough to go on with it.
Suffice it to say i have enjoyed playing with all of you and we'll see what this turn brings.
Lovely parting gifts for away.
Well as you were the initiator of this game Tophat I'm sorry the outcome has not been more positive for you, but you learn from mistakes, or just from someone who does something better.
Hopefully everyone will be back in another game at some point.
No one has publically dropped the latest bomb have they? I assume PMs are burning (punny, if they're from Aby) though, I know mine have been
I'd do a 'world update' thingy, but I'm not sure how much of what I know is in confidence, so I'm keeping it all in confidence. My scout network has suffered some losses lately anyway, stupid non-lizard lizards patrolling and such...
What I can say, is very soon, very very soon, everyone is going to be saying '...and Boom goes the Dynamite.'
I think a lot of that depends on the scales you took, specifically the order/turmoil scale. I've lost one territory to vine men, but that's it so far.
Hello from the LlamaServer! This message is just to let you know that I received a 2h file from you, and it seems to be fine.Details:Game name: DawnOfTheMorningNation: Early Era MarverniTurn number: 31Who's sent their turn in:Sauromatia Waiting for 2h fileC'tis Waiting for 2h fileUlm Waiting for 2h fileNiefelheim Waiting for 2h fileMarverni 2h file receivedAbysia Waiting for 2h fileCaelum Waiting for 2h fileThe turn will process when all 2h files have been received, or at the latest at 00:30 GMT on Saturday July 30th.
I got this in,in a timely manner folks.
Again,it has been a pleasure to actually learn how to effectively play the game. i shall probably loose several more, hopefully not this badly before i learn how to setup a balanced pretender. Seems I'll have possibly another turn.............
Thanks Tophat, and gg
it took me a while to realize that you passivity was due to Aby's scheming, i know i have had easy way b/c of that
sorry again for misunderstandings etc.
That's certainly true, but I was hoping for more variety than I've been getting. I'm recieving almost no other events
I'm enjoying the game, and I wouldn't worry, Top. I've yet to win a single one and I keep enjoying them more and more.
Well, I'm willing to drop the bomb...
Sauromatia is ending its NAP3 with Abysia in response to the entrance of Caelum into the war between us and C'tis. I've called upon my allies in Neifelheim and Ulm to join with me in defending Abysia and making war on C'tis and Sauromatia.
I don't think any of that is in confidence, at this point. And even if it were, it won't be for long.
Assuming Ulm and Neifelheim both answer the call, we've set up a C'tis and Sauromatia vs. Abysia, Ulm, Neifelheim, and Caelum world war! Now 2 vs 4 may sound unfair, but while our war with C'tis is not going horribly in terms of troops lost and killed, the lizards have set up a fort along our northern border that is going to prove very difficult to defeat. We've even had to commit our prophet to the fray, and Joe may not be far behind. Needless to say, Sauromatia's entrance into the war means we'll have to send some troops to our eastern borders as well. Help from Ulm and Neifelheim cannot come quickly enough.
Also, this is all getting way too exciting. As a newbie to MP, who rarely plays past 30 turns on SP, this is all getting, um, complicated. But very, very fun.
Meh, I got hit with 5 or 6 unrest events at my capitol in the first year! Including one turn where the unrest kicked over 100 and I couldn't buy anything.
This with a luck scale (though also turmoil). Weird stuff happens, like my pretender getting splatted by an elephant in spite of the odds being so highly against it. Like the elephants refusing to rout even with the fear aura my pretender was pumping out.
It evens out, sorta, eventually
I'm assuming I'll get a last turn that says you lost your last province and you are the weakest link kinda announcement. if not after this next turn runs I'll mark myself exterminated.
Hmmn,a 4 on 2 how lovely..........
The 3x indy attack province was 1 turn from producing a fortress , and I'd pumped up the PD just in case. that was a painful loss for me.
