We're back up, yay.
So it looks like somebody is taking Acrosephale down pretty quickly -- they're down to only four territories. Guess they wanted that tabloid shut down in a hurry. Wonder what they have to hide?
No one has staled yet in the game, so no worries there.
I've got no issues with llamaserver, he's working though some changes I believe, so that's why there have been so many hiccups of late.
It looks like we may have another problem. All of the players have submitted their 2H files but the server does not seem to be processing them. Not sure if this means quickhost is off or broken or what. Wonderloss, do you think you could take a look see? Thanks in advance.
It means a game somewhere which is being processed has hung.
He's looking at it
So, how will we know when to look again, if we are not on line all the time? i don't want to miss the turn, but i cant go on line every day to look....
edit; thnaks louist, will check daily, shold be ok.
Entertainment under the Ice:
Rumors are again circulating near sources inside the Palace. Complaints seem to relate to the sudden thawing near some of the Smurfette's favorite Jarls. "Its to freeking warm." One Jarl is reported to have said. Another grumbled, "... where is the frosty-man when you need him? Probably lazying it up on some south sea Isle beach." When this reporter interviewed the commander of the icicle brigade, she had this to say: "Our soldiers are proud to serve our people. We are just doing our jobs. If it gets to close to zero - we will still do our jobs. That's our training, that's our duty. That's what we do and who we are. One thing for sure, any slackers in my unit will definitely not be thrown into the cooler."
Next time: Dyed icicles: still for the poor, or a new status symbol?
If you're checking your email once or twice a day, you wont miss it. Once Llama get's the server past this hiccup, it will process the turn and send you the new mail as per normal.
Yeah, we are still on a 25h turn schedule, so you should be expecting to get a turn every day. When there's a hiccup on the server it stops time anyway, so you will always have the full 25h to get and send any turns.
Joe of Abysia has an announcement to make.
ABYSIA, THE SMOULDERCONE - My fellow lavaborn and demonbred, I have important news from the frontier. Our assassins have begun to strike against the disgusting forces of Marverni, as they enter into war against our friends from C'tis and Sauromatia. Very soon we will be marching our own troops across their borders, and we anticipate that the war will be a short one.
This you all know, but we have a graver and more important announcement. As you all know, we currently share Non-Agression Pacts with all of our neighbors - Ulm, Neifelheim, C'Tis, and Sauromatia. In the coming weeks we will announce the dissolution of one of these pacts, as we begin to march towards war. Who will our next enemy be? That is a question we cannot yet answer, but with our expansion now blocked off, it has become vital that we launch a new offensive in order to defend our way of life.
Ye neighbors of Abysia, know that our nation is almost ready to strike. You would do well to reinforce your friendship with us lest you find our troops spilling across your borders.
Yes....very true......the 3 honor-less swine empires of Abysia,C'tis and the sauro-liars are attacking. The sauro-liars made an agreement and a border demarcation line, which they then violated. Everyone take note for future dealings.
Abysia.........I'd actually make a deal with the other 2 craven scum attackers just to attack you. All due to your honorless behavior.
On a strategic note..........sauro-whatever and Abysia why didn't you wait 2 turns and I'd have greatly weakened C'tis? It's like Highlander people, there can be only one.
Ha! As if the troops of Marverni know of honor! The troops of Abysia are still seething over the beating Marverni gave us in the Elementalist game. We're even ready for your elephants, should you bring them to the battle field.
As for waiting, we doubt your capacity to weaken and wound C'tis. Indeed, we feel that we must do so ourselves. To our neighbor C'tis: it is unfortunate that it comes to this, but we feel as though we must renounce our NAP, allowing battle to commence in three turns (on turn 24). Please understand that Abysia harbors no ill will against you - yet - but rather we fear you have become too vast and too powerful, and your borders are too close to our capital. We do not expect victory to come swiftly to either side.
It is our hope that Sauromatia will remain neutral in this conflict, as they have been friendly with both of us heretofore. If, however, they do choose to honor their defensive agreements with you, we will be forced to call upon allies of our own.
Lol, wait a minute...
This is my first MP game, and i have believed that agreeing on a present shape of a border does not imply that this shape will never change ... Rather, i believed, it is an admission during expansion period of not having any claims on the territory occupied now by someone else. We have met here, and here is our border, ciao.
On the other hand, non-aggression pact demands 3-turns period between declaration of a war and actual action. I have not offered nor have been offered any pact from Mav-people. My military reaction was a respond to attack/declare a war to my neighbor, and i don't recall ever informing me about it/asking about my position.
One thing is clear.
The Aby death gem addiction has certainly grown, and now they target the filthy lizard lands to sate their immense appetite for death gems braised in virgin slave blood.
Ulm does not judge though. Indeed, anyone requiring any special utensils to consume said vile product can contact their nearest Ulmish embassy and look through our latest catalog. This one features a fold out of a scantilly clad pretender, from their youth of course. Buy your copy now, to see which pretender had a minor dalliance in 'fashion modeling'.
Also, the hammer sales will continue. 13 gems is the total cost. 7 must be earth, and right now, we're looking for some fire and air to round out the other 6. If you can't make the 7 earth we can work out some other kind of deal... if you ever did any modeling anyway...
Ahem. Just because we do not adhere to your silly hoo-mon notions of cleanliness and decorum, that does not make us filthy people. Also, the maid has the week off.
No offense taken. We have enjoyed the excess heat coming across our border and look forward to discovering its source.
I do have to wonder at your motives, however. C'Tis is large, yes, but we do not have a history of aggression, like yourself, and we honour all of our agreements. We may have a few more territories than you do, but we are no threat to anyone (except perhaps to Marveni, who, it should be recognized, declared war on us). Your empire is almost as large as mine, and, statistically, I would say you have the advantage over us. I do not put much stock in your notion of cutting us down to size when that will also necessarily mean that your own empire will grow larger than anyone, including myself. Ask yourselves this, nations of the world: who is the more threatening nation? The lizard who makes honourable peace with his neighbours or the burning hoo-mon who attacks his friends to his advantage?
Never change? Ha! This is also my first Mp game and our agreement lasted what until it appeared C'tis and i were going at it? I never attacked C'tis............in point of fact my lads left the forest. i have fought only defensive battles.
Bah!
This is true, of course, but you also publicly declared war on me, in this very forum
Words.......just words for public consumption and what it triggered a 3 player assault? There was only one player i thought I had an agreement with and he took my most profitable province. On a good note I saw his pretender in action.
Ulm has also seen a few pretenders 'in action'.
Well the scrying ball was a bit grainy, but our 'artists' were able to make 'prints'...
Ah yes, so true. We C'Tissians are not used to hoo-mon languages and sometimes things get lost in translation. My scholars have now determined that the hoo-mon phrase "we declare war on you" actually means "hail neighbour, shall we set up trade and establish borders". It is all so confusing, really. We apologize for the poor translation and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.
As our Sauromancers are wont to say: "We shall feast on your eyes and impale your children." (Roughly translated to hoo-mon, this means "Be welcome in our humble swamp, would you like some bug juice?")
well, and what was agreement based on? 'just words' or something else?
Either words count or not, you can't have it both ways - again - i did not think there was agreement if first place, but my conclusion is that 'words' matter even more. Misunderstandings are deadly. Well, i am learning
I honestly can't tell what's going on between you all. I hope no one is ignoring the NAP-3 rule...
I'm totally ignoring it.
My NaPs have all lasted more than 3 turns!
Caelum, you staled your turn -- everything ok?
I'm not sure what you mean by the "NAP-3 rule", other than NAP-3 having an accepted meaning of being a non-aggression pact maintained for three turns. I have personally kept all of my agreements, and intend to continue doing so, but are there any greater rules that really enforce this? I mean, if someone chooses to violate a treaty, is there any reason why that should not be allowed to happen in-game? From a roleplaying perspective I see no reason why not -- perhaps the player is playing the role of a backstabber or something, I dunno. I do not say this to justify anything that has been done, and, in fact, I am not really sure what did happen. Just curious what your thoughts are on this.
Some games are played with the rule that diplomacy is binding. I am not sure how someone would be penalized for breaking an NAP-3, but I think it does make people less likely to try to backstab.
Other games are played where anything goes. You can ignore your agreements, and the only possible repercussion would be in-game reprisals. It also means your other allies might be more likely to break their NAP with you. It is a little more like real world diplomacy. Even if a person agrees to an NAP, you still might want to keep some troops in reserve just in case.
I am not sure what the rule is for this game.
The only nation actually don't have a problem with is C'tis oddly enough.
Oh,my dear sauro-whatever friend..nice ambush indeed, well played. I actually bought the: I'm sorry, didn't know this was your first mp game also, lets have peace line. here let me withdraw my troops.........."well played sir". Mind you there is blood between us now but it was well done.
Abysiya....well,what can i say..........
Staled? Hurray I recieved turn 22 only after asking to have it resent, and I sent my 2h in before going to bed last night (and have the email to prove it)...
Looks like I sent in a file for another game by mistake, hah.
