Hello Stardock/Ironclad
Can you guys release some more information about sins rebellion please. I don't care what it is, it can be a snippet of a pic of the arse end of a titan for all I care, but I just find it highly disappointing that some of the other games I am following (Sword of the stars 2, Witcher 2) are constantly releasing new information every 1-2 weeks, while every time I check up on this game I am hugely let down. Please don't get me wrong, don't rush the game or anything, just keeping the fans in the dark for months on end is extremely frustrating on our end, and very unprofessional on your end:P Take Ubisofts upcoming game Heroes of Might and Magic 6 for example, they have been highly involved with their community from the very first announcement of the game and have even had a 'pic-of-the-day' thread on their forums where each day they released a new pic from the upcoming game, thus giving us fans many interesting points of discussion and giving them valuable feedback on the game and its direction. I hope this is not all too much to ask, but the lack of interaction is really becoming too much to take.
Yours Sincerely
Frustrated fan
I don't think IC is going to release new info this month. I'm predicting screenshots and teasers sometime in the Fall at very earliest. Rebellion has a long ways to go.
Next month.
They will always post stuff next month.
They don't tend to lie... They may not always release the quantity or quality of info that we desperately want , but that's completely different to breaking their word on when that info will be out.
They don't lie, they tell the truth.
Like they said last month and this month,
Next month is when we will get our info.
Pictures aside I would be more interested in the ideas of just what 'size' corvettes actually are going to be and what role they will actually play. I mean ... as it stand they could literally be just about anything!
For those who are familiar with the Unreal Tournament series, the answer is, "Two weeks".
I thought that was The Money Pit.
This is indeed acceptable answer, but i wonder, will "the major engine overhaul" take less, if you start doing it in 2013 or 2014? I suppose you´ll need to do it at some point, or no?
Sins 2 will likely have a completely new engine.
Building new is faster and easier then rebuilding old.
My theory for a while now is that they are waiting a while for people's PCs to catch up to what they have planned. This made more sense when we thought they were doing a non-Sins related project instead of Rebellion, but I suppose this would make more sense if they think the tech is advancing faster than they expected.
^ Ditto.
I think many casual gamers' PCs aren't going to catch up simply because a great many older PCs are powerful enough to surf the Internet and do word processing. Heck, I'm still on a Socket 939 system with a dual core Opteron (overclocked slightly to 2.8 Ghz) with 3 GB RAM and Windows XP. I don't think I'd want to go spend the $600 needed to go build a new rig just to play a game or two. (It had better be a really really good game.)
On the flip side of Dirty Sanchezz, if someone made a game that required 64-bit I will upgrade. That will be the ONLY reason I will upgrade.
I'm running a 3.4ghz Pentium D with 4 gb of ram with Win7 32-bit.
I can play Sins just fine in it's current configuration. I was hoping Battlefield 3 would required 64-bit and thus give me a reason to upgrade ... it's frustrating that that has not been the case.
It has now been exactly a month since you said this You have a few more days to keep your promise. Do not disappoint us... WE ARE ALWAYS WATCHING
Indeed
Ummm ... ... you know they have a brand new dev journal ... right?

This at the very least gives insight into what will be a portion and a part of Rebellion.
Think of it this way, Trinity / Diplomacy are simply 'alpha' versions of Rebellion.
The cake is a lie...
Sanchez, you cannot reasonably expect a company to produce a modern video game that can run flawlessly on any system that is more than 2-3 years old. To do that is to spit in the eye of technological advances and all the consumers who actually upgrade. Also, it limits the game.
Take the SOASE game engine, for instance. It was produced with a very large customer base in mind. As time has gone on players have consistently wanted new features - features that the engine cannot handle. SOASE, while awesome, has plateaued. In order to implement the new features that are being requested, they will need to make a new engine that has higher system requirements, including possibly 64bit. Now, it will still likely run on a large base... but instead of rigs from 2005+, it will be on rigs from 2010+, for instance. If you're still sporting a 2006, you're done.
I've been playing computer games since probably about... god... 1989 or so, back when I was a wee lad. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have had to upgrade computers just to play the latest and greatest video games. From 1990-1996 computers went out of date within a year! Also, point in case... remember EverQuest (1999)? Every time that game had an expansion warranted a new video card and/or new RAM. From 1999-2002 I think I quite literally spent something like $250 a year on new video cards, just for ONE game. However, each new expansion was that much more awesome. Did it suck? You bet! Did I have to wait a few months sometimes before I could play the expansion due to needing upgrades? Yep! It's just how it is, though.
TL;DR: You get what you pay for. If you want a shiny new game, you might have to do some shiny new modifications to your rig so that it can handle them.
PS: The cake is a lie, but the brownies are not. OM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM.
Just for everyone's info: Stardock Entertainment is developing Rebellion in conjunction with Ironclad Games (as we did for Diplomacy). Lots of stuff is being done, but we're just not far enough along yet to release it as we don't want to disappoint. Rest assured, when the info starts to flow, it will be worth it.
Ok guys following Yarlen's response, I'm pretty sure that we will not after all be seeing any new info being released on Sins: Rebellion before the end of this month (I hope I am wrong). And It is therefore our responsibility to give Ironclad/Stardock some feedback concerning their handling of the disclosure of Sins: Rebellion news and info.
I hope I am not being unreasonable, having given examples of other games currently in development and how their developers have interacted with the community on a regular basis. Overall I feel the interaction with the community surrounding this particular project does not live up to the standards of the games industry as a whole or meet the expectations of its fans.
Really just one screenshot a week would have been enough to keep interest high and the forum discussions flowing, instead I have been forced to start this thread which sadly enough resembles a flame thread. I can assure you guys I still love you very much and will definitely be buying this game upon release, but really... no info for months on end is so far beyond unprofessional I am lost for words.
I am therefore starting a vote to see what you guys think about Ironclad/Stardock's handling of Sins: Rebellion news/info.
Vote Yes If you think they have been doing more than enough in terms of Releasing new info on Sins: Rebellion.
OR
Vote No If like me you think that they need to do better at disseminating info/news rather than sitting on it like a hen sitting on her precious egg.
Make your voices heard now
Just in case you dont know where I stand on this, that will be a resounding:
Oh that felt good
What "standards of the games industry?" You mean like how Valve has been releasing daily screenshots of Half-Life 2 Episode 3 for the last three years? Oh wait...
