I have seen this discussed here a few times, and purchased it recently. I think some others might as well. If there is enough interest, I could start a PBEM game on llamaserver. Info on llamaserver can be found here.
Newbie--5 or fewer MP games. Can be adjusted if needed if there is not enough interest.

Soooo...
Out of curiosity how many people had Niefel listed #1?
Unless they got hit with some kind of nerf since I last played, Jarls running amok, even without equipment... well just research personal quickness and slaughter everyone and everything
Eh, a sacred Jarl rush is both boring and bad form for a newb game.
Hopefully I'm not the only one who has no idea what a Jarl rush is.
I' ve done pretty poorly with Niefel/Jotun in a few games, so I didn't choose them. I actually put a nation that I have never tried before. I almost never use the same nation twice, as I am still learning, I figure after I get my butt kicked a lot, I will learn what strategy works for me and which nations I do best with.
not a clue, but something tels me I will probobly want to use some heat scales
I went with my standard comfort race, a general no-frills race, and a concept/niche race I've played perhaps twice in single player games... But nothing so... ?optimized? as Niefelheim.
Not if you're a noob doing it???
I mean the entire premise of a SC based nation is a necessary step on the learning curve. Oh, others can do it too, but no one can do it as fast as the giants can.
Look I agree, if I snuck into this game and laid some smackdown on people it would be pointless and not fun (but a learning experience none the less). However, if someone new wants to try their hand at out of the box SCs and a heavy bless strat, more power to them.
Not everyone is boring like Pythium or Arco, just mass spamming mind hunt mid to late game. Though, to learn how to do it properly is necessary, as you need to learn how to counter or defeat it anyway.
So... whomever does play Niefel, just ask me how to do it...
My top 3 picks would be:
1) Abyssia
2) Lanka
3) Caelum
Sure, but suppose half the people here DID put Neifel as their top pick? That's not indicative of 5 noobs who all happened to want to dabble with SCs, it's indicative of 5 people looking for a serious leg
There are two people who have not yet submitted picks. Neifel have not been listed once in the picks that have been sent.
Well good then!
Plenty of ground to cover with any nation, some are harder to make work than others though.
Best of luck to everyone!
I am waiting on picks from two more nations. I have sent PMs. One is ElanaAhova, who may not have access to the internet while traveling. If I get the picks from the other nation, I will go ahead and do the assignments for everyone else, and Elana can pick when he returns.
I have already sent my picks, sorry for not responding faster. But, isn't this supposed to be a n00b game? I see a lot of technical talk about SC rush, sacreds, etc. As true n00bs, you should pick units and pretenders according to how much like their pictures. You should roleplay as much as possible, not caring much about losses and wins. And most importantly - you absolutely have to make obvious blunders! That, and much more I expect from you, my fellow co-pretenders!
Nation picks are up.
That's exactly what I'll be doing!
*chuckle*
Says the guy who picked Hinnom...
Well, all I can say is that all my fiery minions know is that fire is fiery and hot, and that we like it. There is nothing technical or strategic about a big, flaming axe! Prepare to be burned, pitiful nations of non-fire! Yes, even you, you Atlantian water-dwellers. As soon as we can figure out how to wield fire in the ocean....
- From the secret, fiery Abysian pretender.
Well... I was undecided between Hinnom and Ulm - I love Ulm, after all, who needs magic when you have steel, but allegedly, it sucks badly. I have lost badly with Ulm in one of the two games I played so far. Let's see what those Giants have to offer...
Yeah EA Ulm though has fun magic compared to MA. LA Ulm is awesome fun with the vampires though. Death and Blood, fun little combo there
Hinnom is a solid nation as well, but if you wanted giants... well, Niefel is still tops. Anyway, I hope you have fun with it, the more RPish you all are the better, but you know someone is going to be the turd in the punch bowl and actually try to win
I will try to win, even if I do not actually know how.
Well it's rare that a Dom3 game is ever actually 'won'. At some point the remaining nations decide to stop playing because the outcome is clear.
Of course diplomacy is the problem, because the pretenders are really not supposed to ever relegate themselves to 2nd class, but since we are humans, we're used to relegating ourselves to 2nd class
Oh Arco... so many possibilities... and so few of them will help me fend off the evil evil abyssia
I use to play TC in SP games all the time, but never tried them in a MP game before. Should be fun.
So... where should we upload pretenders, and when do we start?
We will wait on ElanaAhova to choose his nation, then I will set up the game on llamaserver. It will probably be toward the end of next week. I am not sure exactly when he gets back.
