Anyone else ready for a true 4th race?!
And I don't think the "factions" are going to cut it-- just minor variations of the same three we've played over and over again at this point.
I know it's a RTS, so balance is important, but it's also a 4X, and that's one HUGE way it's lacking in epicness compared to games like GalCiv (a true 4Xer).
Personally, I was extremely excited to see a new expansion was to be released, but when I saw it was just more of the same, I became disappointed.
Hell, I want a Titan as much as the next guy, but I've lost major interest in the same three races I've played the past few years now.
Indeed. I'm just pointing out a potential side benefit of a challenging single-player campaign.
I think these 3 new rebel factions will in fact play like 3 new Race's. You could play a game and pick normal Advent vs Rebel Advent etc etc, they will have there own unique looking units, structures, theme (they are of course Advent, but they will feel almost like a completely new race) thats the beauty of rebellion, it mixes something old with the feel of something new.
let me guess..the advent rebels want peace and for everyone to hold hands. The vasari rebels want to go to church and prey for the salvation of their race from the hands of an ancient enemy so start a religion- while the tec have had it playing defensive and being bullied so decide to go all duke nukem and adopt weapons of ultra mass destruction (titan:Planet Killer).
Yay -go tec.. more interstellar death.. (more damned souls for me to collect )
IMO the Advent seem to be the most bloodthirsty: TEC is just trying to survive and hold its borders and would probably be the most interested in a truce instead of the extermination of their enemies.
I don't think a campaign would necessarily be repetitive. Look at other RTS games and the differences between a skirmish map (which is what sins basically is), and the campaign. All you have to realize is that you are not given command of all the forces of your choosen race and you are facing off against a massive fleet/empire. For todays mission, your just fighting the war in a little corner of the galaxy. Most of the time you are given limited resources and can't gather/build more. Sometimes, sure, it can be a simple 'a new sector has been discovered, take it over as quickly as possible. oh, the other guys know about it as well', free-for-all style missions
