I am thinking of a template for race pictures. How about 1 sheet per race that holds all the pictures. I ruffed in a template and will test it this weekend. Sheet will be 1024 x 768
First Image of in game Screenshot. Sovereign Vs Venators.
First Venator destroyed with all hands.
SWEET. Enterprise kicks ass.
Myfisto/Russ, take a look at the following. Its got to be worth Karma Russ!
Janeway and the fit chick from Stargate are images i managed to add and scale. Need tidying up a bit tho.
I'm curious on two things:
1) How did you scale the Sovereign-class to be smaller than the Venators? (which it is, BTW. +1 for good scaling)
2) Why did the Sovereign successfully destroy a Venator when there were two pounding on it? Venators formed the mainline combat warship of the Republic, and had heavy guns to rival the Imperial-I class SDs.
EDIT: not trying to be all pedantic with "Empire>Federation", just curious as to why a pair of mainline warships like the Venator would have been somewhat outmatched by the Sovereign, of which there is only one.
+1 for fit chick from SG who I know nothing about. -2 for that twit Janeway. OTOH, I'd probably be "-1 for Picard", because quite frankly only Kirk and Sisko have any balls.
But then again, in-ST-verse, Picard and/or Janeway might be a bit gutsy. By modern standards, the two are pretty incompetent (especially Janeway).
Hello Whiskey, Are you impressed? You know when i started this post i hadn't got a clue about modding.
"Why did the Sovereign successfully destroy a Venator when there were two pounding on it? Venators formed the mainline combat warship of the Republic, and had heavy guns to rival the Imperial-I class SDs."
Remember its all balanced mainly with the stock ships and abilities, apart from a few tweeks ive made. For instance the Sovereign is in the Advent Capitalship Battleship slot with increased cost, sheilds and hull. The Venator's are in the Tec Capitalship Colony slot. Ive not tweeked these at all. The Super Star Destroyer, now thats a different beast all together. It beat the Sovereign and four other Capital ships.
Ive also added 7 of 9 to the Race pictures, how much Karma for her? At least +10
I like Janeway, shes a lot better than that wet lettuce Archer out of the Enterprise show.
Well, the Venator would actually fit more as the TEC carrier, rather than the colonizer; it carried some ground contingents, but the Venator's main function was as more-or-less that of a powerful escort for star dreadnoughts (a la the Executor SSD), an independent patrol warship, fleet combatant, and starfighter carrier.
The Imperial-class would be better suited to colony capital roles, though the funny bit is that it would be very combat capable.
Though, just to be clear, you're using "stock" balance and replacing the models alone for the moment?
WRT the race pictures, well, -10 for 7 o' 9. Because I really hate most of the ST:VOY cast. Though I'll note that ST:ENT is borderline not-Star Trek due to the sheer continuity rape that it continuity/"canon" rape that it represents. Sadly, the same thing is true of Voyager, which is generally acknowledged as a stupidly (stupidly) poor, crappy implementation of a pretty interesting concept.
TBH, I'd say "drop in Jadzia (and/or Ezri) Dax, and call it a day".
Couple more in game screenshots
Last one
Pretty nice; not sure what the top one is, but I'm pretty sure that the last one is what, an Ambassador?
Looks like a Galaxy-class to me.
I assure you that the first one is a Galaxy-class and the last one is an Ambassador-class.
I dunno about the top one; looks more like a Sovereign to me, what with the elongated saucer and the more in-line lower hull.
Well, she is jumping to warp which is probably why she looks elongated, because I know for a fact the nacelles are too round among numerous other characteristics for her to be a Sovereign-class. Please go here and here to see what I talking about.
the top one looks more like an intrepid than a galaxy, but if it is an intrepid, then the nacelles are not quite right.
harpo
I'm pretty sure Sins can't handle dynamic mesh deformation (a la ST warp-speed elongation).
It might be that the ship is a model of one of the classes mentioned but never seen (or perhaps a fan class...). As it is, I do know that the ST mod has a few of the very lesser known ships.
Guys this is a Galaxy Class Starship in game screenshots:
Its actually warping out and retreating because this Stargate ship jumped in system with escorts.
@Whiskey & Zeta, correct in the previous bottom picture the Starship is the Ambassador Class.
The Starship in the previous top picture is the Federation USS Phalanx class Dreadnought.
Theo
Never heard of the Phalanx class.
Ah, one of the non-canon ships you were referring too, Whiskey.
That'd explain it.
I never heard of the Phalanx-class either, that's why I kept saying she was a Galaxy-class, because that is what she looks like to me. I would much rather people add the new STO ships, or ones like the ambiguously canonical Federation-class Dreadnought instead of non-canon ships like this, because their are a lot of ships that do exist that aren't accepted as canon, unlike in Star Wars where almost everything is canon, including books. An Acclamator-class (Republic troop transport/frigate from the Clone Wars) is dueling an Ambassador-class (Enterprise-C is the most famous Ambassador-class due to a legendary battle) in the last two pics of the first set. The Ambassador-class was easy to identify, because I have seen that iteration before in SoA2, the ST mod.
The Stargate ship dueling the Galaxy-class is clearly a non-canon Tau'ri ship, because it definitely isn't a Prometheus-class (X-303) or a Daedalus-class (BC-304).
The SG ship is clearly not a Tau'ri vessel; the design is all wrong. The aft sections of Tau'ri capital ships (as in, full warships) are dominated by multiple, large engine systems. If I had to place it, then that SG ship is an Ancient vessel from dolynick's Stargate Races mod.
WRT the STO vessels, those aren't canon either. ST canon policy is pretty much "series+movies", and recently, the tech manuals were thrown in. Games, books, whatever else, is all non-canon. So there goes that approach.
WRT SW canon, you sound like you think the whole "almost all SW stuff is canon" is a bad thing. TBH, it can get mixed up, yeah. But it's not a bad thing, because all of the books/movies/shows all help to flesh out the setting. That they are all considered "canon" is pretty much a natural thing. Also keep in mind that SW canon isn't "canon" so much as "continuity". And that movies>derived from films>books>whatever other stuff there is, in varying degrees of hierarchy.
That ST canon is very restrictive is pretty stupid, yes. OTOH, it's good, because there's some mind-bogglingly stupid stuff that happens in some of those books (like a warp core described as generating power equivalent to several hundred stars, which only goes to show that ST writers are absolutely stupid WRT the sciences and the setting*).
However, a simple fix for the Phalanx class would be to simply call it the Federation-class, because AFAIK there's no official images or descriptions of the Federation-class.
*Warp cores are invariably described as a matter/antimatter reactor**. You'd have to react stupidly large amounts of said fuels to get power levels on the order of several hundred stars, and ST as a whole isn't conducive to such power generation. 99.999999999999999999999% of everything in the shows/movies is described at much lower power levels, and in general, the setting isn't one that depicts planet-shattering (literally) firepower (because that kind of power generation would have the consequence of giving that kind of firepower) on everyone and their grandma's ship.
**Yes, I realize that Romulan warp cores are artificial singularities. They are the sole exception, and also seem to provide slightly inferior power capabilities to Federation warp cores (this is probably due to Federation optimizations rather than Romulan design/construction inferiority).
Sorry for repeating between threads, I hope i havent broke any rules and people go around calling me a Troll or something! How do i replace the Tec, advent & vasari with 3 more additional sci-fi races?
Easiest would be to leave the original entities named as they are but change the strings to start.
Using notepad++ practice learning "Find", "Replace", "Find in Files". Start with String\English (in the reference files directory) and search for TEC and see the lines it has for that race. Copy them to a new document for backup. Once you edit these lines to fit your new race you might want to add a string like this was
StringInfo ID "IDS_PLAYERRACENAME_TECH" Value "TEC"My new race is Bentuzi so I change the above string toStringInfo ID "IDS_PLAYERRACENAME_TECH" Value "Bentuzi"
Then go down the TEC entity and start changing what links to what.
Post a question about a specific part in the entity you dont understand. Use FIND IN FILES helps a lot to see what it links to. Search the hole reference files for TEC and TECH and see the amout of work ahead of you for 1 race. Unselct Whole word only in the search or you will not find items like IDS_PLAYERRACENAME_TECH as that is considered 1 word.
Yeah, I made a mistake, it is definitely an Ancient warship, not a Tau'ri ship, wasn't paying attention to the blatantly obvious characteristics.
The Federation-class supposedly looks like a Constitution-class with a third nacelle coming of the top and back of the engineering section.
Actually, I do indeed don't like everything being canon when it comes to Star Wars, because Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon, the post-New Jedi Order era, and Legacy comics, are all terrible, terrible, damage to the Star Wars name.
Why so Serious? Its entertainment, not real.
