Just started playing this game cause i wanted something with strategy but not the fast paced brain explosion that is Starcraft 2 MP (Im a diamond toss)
Love Starcraft 2, but really enjoying this game atm. 2 days into it and I only really know how to play with Ashe, but its a load of fun.
Simple and complex at the same time.
What are your general thoughts on this game??? And any tips for a noob to this style of RTS fun.
Also how many of you still play this, I know its a few years old now and the graphics arn't industry leading but for wat it is. I feel they have done a damn good job.
@Soul-Stream:
Annie is by far the most optimized bot, and she is consistently the most dangerous one to face one-on-one. I've also noticed that newer players almost never buy magic resist items, which means they aren't mitigating any of her damage. My advice would be to pick up at least one heavy MR item, and never bunch up when attacking her, as two of her spells are AoE. She's a lot less dangerous when helmed by an actual player, though, and tends to be easily shut-down by more experienced players.
Feel free to play around with masteries all you like. You can change them at any time.
Runes, as Krazikarl said, should be left alone for now. In all honesty, the lower-tier runes aren't very powerful, and the upper-tier ones can be expensive. If you come into level 20 with a nice IP balance, you'll spend a lot less time "grinding" and more time just enjoying the game, even if you end up playing the same amount of games. The other reason I would avoid getting them before level 20 is that, like me, you will inevitably purchase runes that you will end up rarely using. Wait until you have an idea of what runes will work best for your main characters, and which ones are more powerful or benefit more characters and builds than others.
I'll try and get some time to play this week, but I've got a paper due on Thursday and I'm not as far along as I should be.
For items I just go with "recommended stuff" but it's hard with Annie ! She's crazy !!! lol
Any time? So it doesn't matter where I allocate my points then? Coolness
So, is there a way to gain IP other than paying? And if yes, how much do you get?
Thanks for the advise of the runes, I didn't know what to do with them ! You'll have to give me advises for runes, I'm not sure what is good and what is not... But I'm very far from 20 so...
Also, I need to watch some video of LoL to give me a better idea of what the basic strategies are.
Right now I find that everything gets quickly confusing when there's more than 2 hero fighting each other with loads of explosions of skills everywhere and minions in the middle... I die and I'm like, what happened?
Alright, just let me know ^^
I wanted to ask, what's your favorite Character? There's so much and I just can't chose one! I kind of like Cho Gath or something like that, that huge beast that makes area damage, I played against it (not with it yet) and I found it really cool. Also Annie, I'm eager to try her. I've seen a kind of tree called Mokai who seemed kind of cool too !
Are there any hero playing with invisibility and stuff? There's a lot of assassins but I haven't seen an interesting one who would have an invisibility spell.
Don`t watch videos just keep playing. But if you`re looking for some champion guides check http://leaguecraft.com/ . You can find there a lot of good ideas.
I think that there are no better champions, just better players. To master a champion you need to play at least over 100 games. So first thing you need to do, is to find champion you like most (playing style, voice, look . I found best champion for me after checking 3-5 champions, so don`t think you will have to check all champions to find this perfect one.About IP, you get 150 for every first win of the day. I don`t know how it is now, but for games with bots you will gain less exp and IP.And don`t worry, i feel still confused in some situations, after this 300 games My favourite champion is little, cute, deadly, super assasin called Teemo
You can't buy IP directly. You only get it by playing. You can buy boosts that will get you a bit more per game. Dont really worry about your IP rate - just keep playing.
There are 3 champions with moving invisibility - Eve, Shaco, and Twitch. Eve and Twitch are really bad champs now. Eve can probably beat up on clueless people, but is shut down very easily against people who know what they are doing. Shaco is good, but also requires a high skill level to use so I wouldnt recommend it. Akali has limited invisibility - she can throw down a good sized circle and will be invisible inside of that. She is quite strong if used well - you could try her out if you want to go with an assassin with some invisibility. Teemo will disappear if he stays still for a while, but thats not hugely useful.
Cho'Gath is good, but he also has a skill shot. Rupture, the knock up AoE damage and slow, doesnt auto aim at a champ, but you have to land it yourself. I dont think that I'd recommend skill shot champs to beginners since you are pretty worthless if you can't consistently land that skill shot.
Maokai is also good, but should really be played as a jungler. You dont want to be jungling at your low level, so I'd hold off on him.
Annie is a good starter champ. Sion is also probably pretty good. Dont do Teemo even though somebody said that they liked him. Teemo can be good, but he is VERY difficult to play well and there are lots of bad Teemos out there, so lots of people get grumpy if you try and play him.
You can change masteries anytime other than while playing a match at least. You can change them out of matches by going to your profile, and you can change them in the champion select screen immediately before a match begins. Just keep an eye on the countdown ticker, as you wont benefit from any points still unallocated when the match begins.
Bot game IP rates have been altered. The IP you gain now depends on your summoner level, so newer players receive full points, and older players receive less and less. The old bot games per day limit has also been removed and replaced with a timer limit. You get something like 2 hours a day of bot-games before they cut off any IP or EXP growth. They really want you playing against actual people.
As for favorite champions, I tend to go with fast, squishy, and high-damage characters. These tend to be ninjas ans assassins, but not casters (as they tend to be slow!). So that means characters like Yi, Akali, Ashe, Warwick, and Nocturne. Sometimes I'll also migrate over to heavier champions, as long as they are still fairly fast or have mobility options, such as Jax or Lee. I rarely ever play dedicated tanks, support, or casters, as I don't have the mindset for it.
I'd say go with Cho, if you like him. Sure he has a skillshot, but it's an AOE, and failing it isn't so damning as some other character's skillshots. You also won't improve without practice!
Avoid invisibility for now. Not because, as KraziKarl pointed out, Eve and Twitch are bad characters, but because all three require some exceptional skills to use properly. Any champ can be effective if you develop a knack, but it's a lot harder for those three.
In regards to my favorite champs, the easiest to play would have to be:
Ashe - Despite her Skillshot Ult, which takes some real practice, her other abilities are all noob friendly
Warwick - You can jungle with him at summoner level one, just not very well. Otherwise, his abilities are pretty noob friendly as well.
Jax - I'm on the fence. He's a very aggressive champ, which often leads to new players getting themselves killed, repeatedly, but he's going to be the safest one to give hybrid builds a try in, and his passive has some synergy with the noob's general tendency to only stack damage items.
As for the others, Yi is just too weak these days and too easy to shutdown. Akali is a great champ, but takes practice and downright deserves a full rune set. Nocturne... well, there are just a ton of new Nocturne players who are downright terrible. The game doesn't need another! Ditto goes for Lee, who also has the dedicated distinction of having a schizophrenics array of skills requiring a degree of timing.
Why do you say hero are hard to play?
I mean, how do you play them? What's the little thing that makes a player good or not with a hero? I mean as I see it right now, it's only casting skills on other heros (support or attack) as soon as you can.
Invisible hero can be more tactical as you can reach for certain spots easily on the map (well, at least that's what invisible is supposed to do) and playing them might be indeed harder for beginers.
Support might also be harder I know as I was a support character for a long time in MMO and it's always what I was doing... it can get hectic but at least you're never thrown away from any group you're in and you find a group very easily compared to any other character but I got tired of it in the end
I'll take a look at those characters as soon as I get the chance.
I saw nocturne and I like his look, I don't know his skills though, did not play him yet. But I think among the free characters, Nocturne is the most apealing one so no wonder there's a lot of new poeple trying him.
Some champs are a lot more difficult to play than others once you play against people who know what they are doing.
Take Teemo. He is very easily killed, a highly desirable target (high damage, easy to kill), has only moderate range, and has no built in escape mechanism. Tristana, for example, fills a similar role but is easier to play. She is just as squishy and is a simililarly desirable target, but she has greater range, a built in escape mechanism (Rocket Jump) and a push back that can be used defensively (her ult). This means that Teemo basically will get killed every time he gets out of position in a teamfight (or have to burn a Flash, which is on a very long cooldown), while Tristana can often survive one or two bad positioning incidents in a team fight.
Thats the big difference - some champs get hammered every time you make a small mistake, while some champs give you a lot more leeway. Teemo is probably better if you rarely make even small mistakes, but Tristana works better for most people.
And you dont want to be blowing your spells on other champs as soon as you can. Their tank should be initiating for them, and you dont want to blow anything on him. Your team should be calling out targets and you should be saving your cooldowns for valuable, easily killed targets like carries and support. Using spells on the first available targets is one of the most frequent mistakes that new players make - you will want to learn to identify which champs do high damage but are not very survivable and save your spells for them.
So I just looked at Teemo, he looks okay and not to hard to handle, is he? I don't know, everything seems pretty clear to me. He's more like a hit and run tactic with his skills. Well, that's their problem if they get angry after all, it's only a game and you cannot learn without trying him and having advice from other players... LoL community seems pretty selfish
Searched for Eve, did not find her.
Shaco seems really cool though !! I'll try to get him definitely !
Twitch seems okay, he's basic so I'll give him a try since he's free.
Akali, I don't really know... She seems okay, maybe
Cho Gath is a must have on my list as well as Annie, they have my full attention Cho has a skillshot okay... but what is it exaclty and how to use it well? I mean is it the skill that make you jump in the air and fall? Is it great because you're kind of paralized for a short time? I've seen hero having skillshot (if that's what it is) but since the ennemy is propulse backward and you cannot reach him anymore, I don't know... Unless you have to combo with skills... but I didn't get to look at that effectively yet.
Maokai seems really cool, I keep looking at him but since I should avoid him [e digicons]:'([/e]
Sion, well, I looked at him and he's leecher, I don't know, he didn't get my attention
Ashe, well, an Acher... doesn't get much my attention but I played her in the tutorial she had nice stuff.
Warwick ya, maybe, interesting.
Jax, no, it's a definite no... I don't like those kind of skills [e digicons]:'([/e] I would want to leave the game after 3 sec !
Yi seemed better but since you say he's pretty week these days.
As for Nocturne, I looked at him closely and honnestly, ya, he seems pretty hard to handle ! Looks like you have to play with the trail left by his skill to defend / attack and annoy players with his blinding skills. You've got to have reflex and move back and forth... I'm not a fan seriously
Oh, I see then... So LoL actually is all about knowing the entire Hero Database
So you just have to play and play like crazy to know that and study every champion you see... All the sudden that makes think that it's way too much work to play LoL !
In the end in LoL it's all about finding a character that fits your particular playstyle. If you are hyper aggressive playing an assassin (like Xin or Nocturne or Olaf) will fit you. If you are too aggressive you might want to play tanks (I think Alistar is nice for beginners), so long as you can keep your head enough to protect your teammates. On the other hand if you really like being cautious and staying back and plinking try out a caster or ranged carry (like Malzahar or Ashe). If you are playing with a bunch of friends it is fun to play support, just in solo queue remember teamwork isn't always going to happen. My favorite support are Taric and Janna.
Teemo is pretty awesome and simple to play from a skill management standpoint but he is SUPER squishy. So you need to be careful on him, he has a tendency to explode.
Personally I like to play all kinds of characters, but there will always be certain champions that just kind of mesh with how you play. Some of my current favs include Nocturne, Jarvan, Malzahar, Nunu (in the jungle), Taric, Janna, Lux, Malphite and Alistar.
It's a great game
I really have too look at them ! Unfortunately, I have to get points to unlock them... First I would unlock is Cho Gath because I've seen him IG and I thought his skills were pretty cool !
On the other hand, when I saw the video for the first time, I thought that guy with the scroll on his back (whatever is name is) would be cooler with his skills ! Big Disapointment !
I'm just afraid of the community... Seems like the community ruins it all because they're hardcore gamer who cannot accept that someone start the game and learn how to play or probably doesn't want to play hardcore and be in the top 100 !
