For all you Star Wars fans, I've finished off the latest version of a mod which adds the Alliance and Empire as new races. This is a playable versus the existing Tech/Advent/Vasari races, and balanced against them.

It also happens with me when running the Distans Stars mod. I read in that topic it has something to do with ATI videocards. Perhaps that is the case here as well. I hope it helps.
I assume you skipped the pre-1.3 release in favour of a full-scale 1.3 release Goa?
The mod doesn't work with Diplomacy v1.31 right? I can't load it.
Yes, its in progress guys. Patch caught me at a really bad time as in addition to the updating I have to replace at least some of the place holder text and icons of the new features before 3.4 is released. It hope to have it done by at least this time next week.
Ok good luck with the work. So far I could try only the Ench... Entre... uhm, can't spell it, only with the first expansion and it's half as good as SoGE honestly. I hope in Diplomacy it is actually better.
Its a lot more polished in Diplomacy, and the factions will be start to be really distinct in this patch. However I can't say with certainty unless I know what you were disappointed with. Perhaps you can PM the details?
It's great to hear you are working on it. I really love this mod. I read on your website/forum all the aspects you want to change as well. Sounds fantastic. Thanks for all the hard work!
Sure, I will play this mod a bit more in case and I'll PM you. One (minor, but still annoying) issue I've noticed regards TIE ships, it seems that its sound loops and the speakers, when the sound restarts, reproduce an odd sound, like a "brrp"... Eh sorry, it's hard to describe. I dunno, it may have been fixed already in future versions.
Texture colours are also too dark, most SD are meant to have a light grey colour, not a dark grey one, and that regards some rebel ships too. I've not played this mod enough to tell you more, but when I will I'll PM you instead of using this thread.
Don't get me wrong tho, overall the mod isn't bad at all, and it has more ships than SoGE.
Hmm, I didn't notice any looping problems, but the low quality TIE engine has been driving us insane for a while now. I actually just fixed it in the upcoming patch, as part of a partial sound effect overhaul.
While a couple of ships have had this fixed, most noticeable the Imperial Star Destroyers, most of them probably still have that problem. Once the Tech trees are done I'll start trying to see how feasible it is to fix it, given I don't have the most professional image software.
But yes, I'd appreciate any feedback in a PM or on our forums. I'd like to try and keep this as a sort of news thread.
The ships are good enough for me, ive never had an issue with them. There are prob things you could do before dooing nitpicking like this.
Well good news guys is that I've updated my version to 1.31, just going through and fixing a couple of bugs that came up. Then some new strings and icons for the new tech trees and I'll be done. If there isn't another hotfix that is. Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday 3.4 will be released.
Well for the next patch I'm going to finish the Empire and Rebel defense/diplomacy trees, as I had to cut them for this release to get the mod updated on time, as well as getting as many icons as I wanted to release with this version. I'm also looking at adding in a couple more planets, and the standard few new abilities, but beyond that I'm open to suggestions. So long as it isn't adding the Clone Wars.

Id like a new empire starbase myself, wouldnt it be possibly to use the starbase models from say empire at war. I seem to recall they had some descent starbases there. Your going to have to turn the executor into the titan sooner or later anyway when rebellion comes out.
I would also prefer to have more tiers in the different research lines, but that wouldent go over well with normal sins without altering that too and it would prob be a hassle hehe. I like distant stars in that aspect, much more interesting gameplay than normal.
How abouth the eclipse ssd?
Ability to build stronger orbital defences! One should be able to build Golan platforms for stronger than normal platforms defence. ANd a new model for orbital guns wouldent be bad either, the tech gaus platform is not the most fitting imo. But most important golan golan!
How abouth introducing some jedi/dark side powers to the factions? the entire star wars universe are after all closely interlinked with these, and there must be some way to adequatly represent them. <ponders>

Cant seem to get the mod working with Diplomacy.
I've installed all the patches (full, then 3.0 to 3.2, then 3.2 to 3.3, then 3.31), but I get a mini dump every time I try to enable the mod.
The checksum is different than what is posted on the dl page.
Any help is appreciated!
I dont think the 3.1 version of the mod has been actually released yet, so your Sins game could be too up-to-date to play it.

Buy diplomacy imo, how poor can you be? Unless your answer is that you live in the jungle in a straw hut.. Uppdating all the diffferent versions just takes up unneccesary time for the modders, how many version should they need to release, 1: normal sins 2: entrenchment 3: diplomacy and now 4: rebellion. That sounds yucky from my perspective.
Yeah if you have Diplomacy 1.3 just hold on a for about another day, the patch is almost finished.

Okay, as there is probably going to be another hotfix, I'm going to hold off on release the patch until that's released, as I don't want to have to make everyone download another small patch for Requiem just to make them compatible. Sorry for the delay.

The mod is pretty much ready now, but I still want to wait for Diplomacy 1.32 to be released so that a second update is not needed. Once I update the mod for that version (which should only take an hour at most) I'll upload it and release it the same day.
Now that looks very good. Also it strikes me that if you have more time you may add even more stuff to the mod! 1.32 may take some time
What abouth switching out the hangar platforms with golans? Seeing they would have better firepower they could cost 6 instead of 4. Golans are just quintessential star wars defences and would fit alot better than than the tec hangars/and or gaus platforms. I understand they would need to be balanced with standard races but that can always be fixed with price and cap.

Yes we will most certainly be doing that. While I don't really like using Empire at War only creations if I don't have to (the ones in the mod have pretty minor roles), but we might have to if I can't get a high quality Golan III (see below).
Well if the Executor is going to be the Titan, what in the world are we supposed to do with the Eclipse?
Jason did experiment with a Golan III as the Empire's Star Base, but the model unfortunately was not very high quality. If I knew where to find one I would definitely put priority on getting it in the mod.
I have been wanting to experiment with doing something else for the Star Wars factions turret, as you are right large turbo-laser platforms aren't very Star Wars like, but its probably not what you are thinking.
Actually with the new patch almost all of the Empire's culture techs and some of the Rebel's use the force to explain their effects. Its not a lot at this point but its a framework for expanding on in future patches.
I have a suggestion about the Golan III platform model, another mod for EaW: FoC callled Phoenix Rising uses several models of Golans I, II, and III to make their skirmish Starbases, you might try taking a look at those.
