As like everyone else, I'm very excited over the announcement of the new expansion Rebellion...So far, only one ship has been shown from the original three factions which I think will become a legendary class of ships in the Sins universe.
This ship is bristling with guns on four wing pylons, probably a mix of long and short weapons, kinetic and beam weapons most likely. Have more strike craft than a carrier capital, and missile weapons loads. And now the business end of the ship...
I believe this ship is a mobile Novalith cannon, shrunk down to size on a mobile platform, because of her size, she is slow but faster that a Vasari starbase. And more than likely, she can target capital size ships and starbases with her main weapon. And if that is the case, once it takes out the capital ships, mop up the cruisers and frigates and blast a planet with four to five shots and bring in the colony ships for settlement.
Armor and shields would be just below that of a starbase but of course, this is all speculation. Like to get everyones thought of the TEC's newest class of ship since the envoy ship. I bet the Vasari's came out first and the Traders brought out theirs next followed by the Advent....
I can't wait to see the Vasari's Titan Class Super Capital.....
I'm gonna bet that Titan ships are gonna be like hero ships, pretty powerful but since it's just one ship per player they can be defeatable and dealt with in terms of strategy. The only part i'm not really sure, in my theory, it's what will happen when you lose the ship? Will you be able to get it back?
One thing is sure, or IC is gonna balance it enough so it's possible to have multiple of these ships per player without being too OP. Or it's gonna be a unique ship per player, super strong, which can only be dealt in the end-game phase or with another Titan ship or with a very good fleet.
I hope titan class ship won't be too powerfull. Best for me it would be more powerfull than a Capship, but weaker than a starbase. And with a cost of superweapon 8000 credits, but you would be able to build it in a middle of the game with 4-5 tech labs and some new crew type, one super crew at 4-5 tech labs and the second one at 8 tech labs...
And I hope titan would get exp so as capships

I noticed diplomacy has Pirate armor or class in the Gameplay.constants of the DamagePercentBonus area. We have Capitalship weapon, please add Titan weapon and own table. Titan needs it's own 'class/armor' type also.

Source? I've heard nothing about limiting Titans to 1 per player. Granted, there is only 1 "type" per faction but I've heard nothing preventing multiples.

Yes we noticed it as soon as the site was changed, and yes it is a TEC Titan. So is the Novalith looking one. Each sub faction in rebellion has their own Titan which means there are 6 total.

I'm also looking forward to commanding a Titan (great asset), but I'm especially looking forward to fighting one (great challenge). The Titan will present another interesting level of threat management.Every time I think of the Titan, I envision two of them locked in battle. It would be epic to see several fleets engaging one another, with strike craft all over the place, fighting in the shadows of two or more huge, high armored and heavily armed warships, unleashing wave upon wave of ridiculous firepower on one another. Tactically, it will be a great toy, strategically, a great challenge, and theatrically, an epic part of a large scale assault.As others have said, I hope it can be turned on and off, because there may be days when I only want to contend with traditional firepower. However, if they don't include such a switch, no big deal.
Since massed bomber squadrons are already so common in late-game I'm kind of hoping they won't be the best Titan counter, although given what a Titan is it sure sounds like it.
Based on what titans sound like you might be encountering the same sort of thing currently via a fully upgraded Orkulus (except that the Orki can't phase jump)
If that's the case then it would certainly fall within the family of traditional firepower. It will be interesting to see the stats on it.
Titans are fully equipped to deal with bomber spam.

Why make a novalith can mobile it has virutally no range limit and if its mobile... well i just dont see how you would obtain that and really does any one know the life of the titans yet? if you do can i please be told.
Because on large multistar maps, it takes a long time for a cannon shell to get from one star to another, whereas if you could utilize phase space and drive your novalith to at least the star of the system you want to attack, you fire off a shot and run back to safety. Hell, even on single star maps, having a mobile novalith means you can drive it up to your front lines, shoot, then move it somewhere else so when the attackers come looking to destroy it, its not there.
